Nice review and information AJ - the addition of a 2up seat is a game changer as you grow and the family grows, and you demo'd a 650 they go on. Cheers

Why is it that when ever Polaris comes out with something that Ski-Doo been doing for several years it’s something AMAZING! 😂
@snowtrax
@snowtrax 3 года назад
Before you comment you should go look at the reviews of the Ski-Doo system, we gave it lots of praise too. But the fact this kit does dome extra things like easily attach a 2 up seat as well as having all the wiring pre installed from the factory says a lot, so yes it is pretty great.

The ski doo linq system is the best. And it can almost be mounted to any sled.

Has to be said that the price of accessories definitely seems to be keeping pace with the price of these new sleds themselves. And, neither are a particularly good thing.

Great video and glad to see Polaris has stepped it up big time with storage and accessories. I must say though the price tag on new premium sleds is getting out of control especially by the time you buy studs and accessories. Gotta start playing lotto lol.

I thought I liked it but when riding I found a Polaris box just sitting on the side of a whoopy trail. Stopped and found that 2 of the 4 connection points had snapped completely off of the tunnel and the other 2 slid out. After seeing this and imagining what the rails where it connected on the tunnel would now look like I would never trust those flimsy rails on the Polaris. It says something when you find something just released on the side of a bumpy trail but you never see a ski doo linq bag or gas tank on the side of the trail and it has been about 8 model years
@Ted_Stryker
@Ted_Stryker 3 года назад
Sounds more like someone had a little roll over or a close encounter with a tree branch maybe. Some sort of accident like that anyway. Of course your theory has some chance of being correct, but I've had a few polaris snowmobiles in my day, among others, and have seen these new sleds, from all north american manufacturers, up close and quite thoroughly. So, with the build quality and the experience I've had with all these new sleds, particularly recalling the quality of the polaris rail system of course, I'd find it hard to believe it just sheared off with regular trail riding like that. Unless they had a very overweight passenger or it was improperly installed perhaps.
@tgfysiyf
@tgfysiyf 3 года назад
@@Ted_Stryker what I found was a bag that took 2 sets of rail clips(so something like the adventure bag I think) The trail was destroyed with 3 foot whoops but if you were going 30 they didn’t feel too bad. There was no crash or anything I could see it flew off a sled and rolled into the woods. I can’t speak for the install but it had about 5 lbs of stuff so not overweighted. I have a linq gas can and bag full of stuff for an overnight and never have ever had an issue. Ski doo did much better
@Ted_Stryker
@Ted_Stryker 3 года назад
@@tgfysiyf Again, not saying your theory is absolutely incorrect. Just saying from what experience I've personally had, especially with not actually witnessing the incident myself, I probably wouldn't draw that conclusion. Even without my personal experiences taken into account, there's just way to many variables that could have happened, and you'd probably never know about, that could have attributed to the seat ultimately laying there.
@tgfysiyf
@tgfysiyf 3 года назад
@@Ted_Stryker yeah there are a lot of variables and this is just one incident but I see that the ski doo linq system is very hard to install wrong and I have never seen one break before. Also it was a bag not a seat that I found.
@Ted_Stryker
@Ted_Stryker 3 года назад
@@tgfysiyf First, sorry about the seat/ bag mix up. Lol Guess I must've just figured it was a seat, because those just seem easier to rip off. That said, I'm certainly not claiming any system is better than another in any particular way. Just that, from what I've seen, they're all pretty durable and, I have to say, the polaris system looked pretty darn simple to install to me. No offense. My point was maybe the install was rushed or something. Anyway, it's good there's a sled that works for you. Because, at the end of the day, that's all that matters. Who cares what others ride. Lol Have a good one.

Lock and clip seems like a good idea but be careful with the passenger seat. We just rented a couple 650s with the seats and one of the passengers (170lbs) flew off around a turn. The cheap plastic clip snapped right off sending him flying. Thankfully , there were no other sleds coming at that moment cause he ended up right in oncoming traffic. Very dangerous issue! Hopefully limited to this one instance.

Actually there was no movie magic with this one, the rear mounts on the Matryx line up with ease, and the springs are super easy to install. Without the filing I'm guessing I could have done it in maybe 15 minutes including the block and tackle hook up

Those brackets look really ugly when there is nothing attached to them. You can see the end of the carriage bolt sticking up and nuts holding the bracket in place?? Operation looks slick enough but, I wouldn’t love the look of that bracket on my $20k sled. The LinQ bracket looks way nicer.

So, 30 seconds to install the seat, but an hour to install, and the same to remove, the torsion springs. No thanks. Now if Polaris designed a "helper spring" that could be installed once, then engaged and disengaged in 30 seconds they'd have a real solution. Don't forget to include a shock that has adjustable compression and rebound dapening though.
@jeffmorse5599
@jeffmorse5599 3 года назад
riding a kid you can be OK with the same springs. Adjust to the low setting for solo riding, medium when loaded for a bagger and then high with a kid. I did it on my doos for a few years for my daughter. With an adult no way.
@snowtrax
@snowtrax 3 года назад
It's a trade off, they don't recommend you swap out the torsion springs once installed and we have been running that sled most the winter with the stiffer springs, no one is complaining, they are on the softest rotation of the preload block and work good for the average 175-225 pound rider. If your lighter, just bump up preload on your stock torsion, if your heavier these will work great with a passenger.
