A 1/4 or 5/16" nutdriver on a screwdriver type handle makes it easier to put those retainers on the 1/4" pins of the trim piece. I would lay out a couple towels for the trim piece and windshield to rest on, while installing the push retainers. Having those rubber grommets nice and warm helps them install a little easier, if working outside I keep them in a pants pocket till ready to go.
It looked like your windshield popped back into the grommets pretty easy. Mine don't seem to want to go in all the way and keep popping out. I'm only talking about the 3 in the front. 😌
Can you not rotate/lift the handguards a bit? Are they not adjustable at all? I would think you could loosen where the hand guard mounts to the bar and rotate up ever so slightly and then adjust where the hand guard attaches to the mount to make it work. But I don’t have mine to play with yet. Haha
Chris, you definitely could but the hand guard would end up not covering your hand! The solve to it all if you want no running is a 4” riser and your good to go.
Great job on the videos.....I went with the 85mm riser from the Matryx Assault on my VR1 and the handguards still touch. How difficult was it to paint the footwell vents red??
Thank you, we had heard the Assault riser would clear, good to know it doesn't. We just pulled in another sled today for a quick project and we are going to try it's riser and if it works there will be a video this week just so that someone has that option.
Re: footwell it was painted in place so just painters tape nicely following the lines of the panels where the vents are, tonnes of newspaper covering everything. Used a good primer and then the Polaris Indy Red paint. Turned out really good!
@@krazykanucksperformance2242 Did the paint you bought from the dealer come in a spray bomb or can, cause I have been looking to buy the polaris blue for my new Matryx.
This is the one thing that slightly bummed me out with the new VR1. I figured I’d be able to switch back and forth between low shield and medium. Those push nuts suck. I now have to order another small wind deflector.
Yes we agree, the retainers can be removed once or twice and re-used but you can risk breaking a pole off also which wouldn’t be good. So we are also going to Be getting a second windshield trim piece for if we don’t run the Med heigh shield and want to have just the Handguards
@@hunternelson3018 no the second one I ordered was a red one and it didn’t come with the retainers, the mid height windshield comes with them when you order it .
I've been watching a few go pro riders on RU-vid with the matrix chassis and it looks like there's an open space between the windshield and the body or trim??
Of course we did try that but unfortunately with the riser rotated back far enough to clear its way too far back and you are in either a terrible seating position or your arms are awkward. It was clear from Polaris even when ordering the sled that the Hand Guards didn't work with the Mid Windshield so not surprising. Some will install a taller riser others will just ride with it as-is I have an idea to try on mine when it comes in.
