In this video we are installing BRP Ice Scratchers on the new 2021 Polaris Indy VR1 137". After trying all of the different scratcher options out there, we feel these are the best from an effectiveness and look.
On this Machine we installed BRP Part#860201430

I've run these BRP scratchers on my 2017, 2018, 2020 Assaults and my 2019 Indy XC. Best scratchers in the business. Great video guys!

I have to say I’m a believer now, I never ran scratchers, this is my first set, I installed these on my new VR1 850, on hard pack or icy trails my temp would climb to around 140-150, I drop the scratchers and temp drops to 110 to 115 all day long, I’m sold and now my buddies want them for there sleds!!

Quick tip I don’t know if it’s been said but put the bolt into the bushing your trying to fit and grind it to size gives a perfect uniform centered fit. You don’t risk taking off too much if you mess up with the grinder.
@krazykanucksperformance2242

That can work … in this situation though you’re not after a perfect round circle for where it need to fit .

I realized this is an older video but I just found it now. I would suggest that instead of grinding the bushing to fit the stamped flange on the Polaris, you could just use a washer the diameter of the head of original polaris bolt under the bushing to space it out a little bit. I would also find a longer bolt instead of all the cutting on the bushings to fit the short bolt.

Great vid guys. I will be doing this over the summer. It's difficult to identify what Ski-doo scratchers would be proper length for which machines but looking at your video this Part# would likely fit XCR 128" without problem do you think?

Thank you, as for the the proper length the ones in the video work on every model up to the Assault from my experience. I believe you can get the next size up to use on the Assault if you wish as well as anything else longer then 146 . We have slacked on anymore recent videos as life has been busy for the both of us but we will be starting back in the fall doing more videos and such keep an eye come fall for updates . Cheers

I am intrigued by these, I can see how they would work great at lowering engine temps. However, being so far back are they still useful to cooling down the Hyfax?
@krazykanucksperformance2242

Have used the same set on 3 different sleds now and they all were happy… the snow gets tossed into the track and brought around to the hyfax. Noticeable difference in sled temps when they are put down. Very pleased with how they work and they will be going on my 2022 Xcr 850 this year as well !

Hey do you know which model number I should get for a '23 Matryx 650 Voyageur 146? There's six different ones listed and they don't all have pictures or detailed descriptions.
@krazykanucksperformance2242
I hear word that as of last year I believe the part numbers changed so best thing to do would be get ahold of your local BRP dealer to get the ones for a 137 or 146

@@krazykanucksperformance2242 talked to my local BRP dealer today. The new model P/N 860202388 for the wide track sleds has a longer bolt than some other P/N's. It's an M10x110 so it may fit without the need to modify the spacers and bushing. (The bolt for the torsion rod is an M10x40 on the Matryx Voyageur/SB chassis.) I'll try to remember to comment how the install goes after I get them next week.

@@krazykanucksperformance2242 didn’t fit. The dealer was incorrect about the bolt size. It’s actually an M12 x100 so it’s too large. The length looks perfect though. Also, it seems like the aluminum bushing on the bolt head side is attached somehow so I can’t even replace the bolt.

Hi A V thanks and good question, I don't think there's too much predictability there with when you are getting your SnowCheck. Colt ordered his later than me and got his à while ago but his is a 137. Mine is a 129 and was supposed to shop Nov 22nd but looks like it's now shipping Dec 4th. Dealer has other snowchecks in just all depends on length and colors and production runs.

@THE ONE part of the reason for taking the 1/4” off of the bushing is because the spring sits to loose in between the 2 bushings and does flop around when used on a Polaris, just help keep the spring a bit more snug.

Hi Brad, Polaris doesnt have Ice Scratchers, they may sell some at dealers from other companies like Cable Scratchers but to us, those don't work as well. Much prefer the BRP Tunnel Mounted, they work really good and the fact that they are from BRP isn't going to stop us from putting them on a Polaris since its only Ice Scratchers and they work amazing.

@@krazykanucksperformance2242 thank you so much for getting back to me. That’s what I needed to know. I just switched to Polaris after years with Arctic Cat. Their scratchers were easy peesy. These are so much better than drilling into the rail, having them damage the rail when "parked" and just flopping around and hitting the rail too. We haven't installed in the new 146 Matryx chassis Assault but should be very similar process. These were on the 144" Axys Assault last season. There's no BRP or Skidoo logos on the scratchers so it's cool lol

Thank you for the kind words! We have so much more to come too on Colt's machine and my (Jerome's) sled (VR1 850 129") should arrive in the next few weeks and we will be doing some different things to it too. I tried ski mounted scratchers, tunnel mounted cable scratchers, A-arm Mounted cable scratchers and thrn went to these BRP ones on my last machine and Colt happened to use those on his last one as well. They just work, look slick and if you need replacement parts while on a tour there's many BRP dealers around. I just looked up those Nextech TI ones, I hadn't heard of them but they look good and I'm sure last too being all titanium, just would worry about replacement parts in case you needed them.
@krazykanucksperformance2242
@krazykanucksperformance2242 3 года назад
@@chadroberts6444 we choose this style of ice scratcher due to the fact that most cables scratchers I have used in the past do not perform as good as this style which has contestant spring pressure pushing down on the snow, you can also reverse with these as well and they stow away nicely and don’t require you drilling into your sled rails !
