Great video! I finally pulled the trigger on a left over 2023 xc 850 adventure. I’ve been watching for a couple years now and you swayed me to buy my first new polaris. Now I’ve owned every brand from new. This will be first addition is tunnel protectors and studs

Seems like the carbide maker companies don’t recommend the 8 inch ski carbides unless you have a studded track. My xcr came with the 8’inch carbides but the 1.6 cobra isn’t studded. When going online to buy oem replacement carbides a 4 inch one comes up. Which ones will work better without studding.

I would still recommend the 8 inch. It’s going to provide better steering. Not sure why they companies don’t give that option as they come factory with 8’s.

One thing ive never EVER seen is an actual test between an ice ripper track vs Traditional studs, I would live to see the comparison not just for traction on ice but acceleration as well,Ice rippers are much lighter and also are much more reliable and Never throw out studs even with high mileage... Thanks just a thought 😂😂

What size stud do you recommend for the 1.50 storm track ?
@JoeBinger

Do you need tunnel protectors for igrip studs in a 1.6 cobra?
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 9 месяцев назад
yes. any type of added traction to the track requires tunnel protectors!
@kollak01
@kollak01 10 месяцев назад
If the studs only protrude so far above the tip of the lug so the tunnel protectors really need to be so tall? I cut down the 2” track and added 306 igrip screw in studs. Just wondering if I really need the protectors. Even if the protectors were a half inch tall they would still do the job of keeping the studs from hitting the tunnel. Thinking of making my own.
@JESSEJAMES322

i absolutely would with that set up

@@JESSEJAMES322 for sure. but my thought is why do the polaris tunnel protectors need to be so tall? they are at least an inch. if the theory is that the track will hit the protectors at the track windows. if the height of the track at that point is the same height as the top of the lugs then the studs stick up maybe 3/8 of an inch above the lugs. why do the tunnel protectors have to be an inch when a half in would do?
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 10 месяцев назад
just to be safe. its under teh sled so its not hurting anything being longer/taller

I read somewhere that you should retorque your studs each year. So I looked up the torque on woody's website and torqued all my studs. They dont look flush they have a little dimple on the back. Is that a problem? Thanks Larry
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 Год назад
should retorque them a few times a year. 99% of people installl them in a heated shop and or dealer installs them in a heated shop. when the track goes outside and its 10 degrees the track shrinks and they will come loose from time to time. smart to take a peak at them a few times a year

How many spaces on the xcr track in 136? Trying to get my studs ordered before I pick up the sled
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 11 месяцев назад
136 (length) / 2.52 (pitch) = 54. It’s always length divided by pitch of track. Trail sleds are either 2.52 (XCR’s) and all others are 2.86

Recommend ice scratcher’s to keep the temp down
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 Год назад
I have never used Ice scratchers so I’m not sure what works best. These sleds run very very cool and I personally don’t see a need for them
@bowhiker1835
@bowhiker1835 Год назад
Fair Jesse - I assume you don’t run a 1.5 - 2” track either. My crossover comments are probably hitting a wall here.
@JESSEJAMES322
@JESSEJAMES322 Год назад
i do not now but i used to run 1.75 and 1.5 year in and year out. I know the 2 inch does throw alot of snow out the back and also does not circulate. what ive ssen is the skidoo ice scratchers mounted on the polaris. seems to be the best option out there
