One of the best machines for the $ in my opinion. I have the 2023 450 H.O and I love it. Great machine for both work and recreation riding. It has plenty of power to handle anything you throw at it. I'm a larger rider (6'2 235lbs) and it handles my weight with ease. Super comfortable ride too. Polaris also switched the battery location on the 2023's. Now they are located right in the center in the front storage compartment so it's easy to access.

Very happy for you! This is the same ATV I'm looking at. I'm also looking into a pull behind mower. My only concern is overheating while going slow pulling a mower. I've got about 13 acres to mow. Another thing you may want to consider is a drag harrow. They have them at tractor supply. I use one with my neighbor's ATV to maintain my driveway and to help prep food plots. Enjoy your ATV!
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 7 лет назад
So far I am very pleased with this machine! 13 acres is a lot of mowing! I think I have less than 1 acre with all the roads and grass spots. There has been no issue with overheating but I have not pulled anything yet. Some of those mowers are good at 7mph. Not sure that is fast enough to get the air circulation going. I had not seen a drag harrow before. With my neighbor I have all the road equipment one could ask for. haha

So after six years, what do you still like or now dislike about the Sportsman 450?
@jamesporter3991

Nice machine. I used to have the 850. Try to use just the key to shut her down. That kill switch has a I guess you could say brittle copper piece inside that tends to break. But great machine all around. Enjoy
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 7 лет назад
That is a good tip. I have not. touched that switch yet. The key seems to be all I need. An 850 is a strong machine!!!

This has been such a fun purchase. I have been trying to ride around 10 miles a week. There is a trail called Brown mountain that I am looking into. Should be fun.

Congratulations brother. They are nice machines. I have the 2012 Sportsman 550 Touring model. A suggestion, when you do get a winch, if it has a cable, replace it with a synthetic winch rope. When plowing, the cable tends to break often and the synthetic one is much better. You will love it.
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 7 лет назад
The guy at the dealership was saying something about the synthetic rope. I had not ever heard anything about them. I will have to look into that. Might be next fall before I can afford one of those. But it is in the works.

That's got to be a good feeling to bring that home after the long wait. I'm hoping to do the same in the next month or so. Narrowed down to three models. Polaris price point is awesome. Congrats and enjoy
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 6 лет назад
Yes it sure is! Now I need some better weather to ride in. I like the polaris. The price was right for me. I know there are a lot of people with opinions on each brand but this model is going to do what I need it to do.
@ComfyDadShoes
@ComfyDadShoes 6 лет назад
Thanks for that review. I would up getting my sporty yesterday! It’s amazing how comfortable it is. Looking forward to getting it through the break in period
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 6 лет назад
Nice! The machine has a comfortable ride for sure! Once the heat shield was installed on the right side to keep that crazy heat down. I noticed a difference when I had the first service. The machine had an even smoother ride.

That is odd. This one does not work together. I think that I would like to have them work together on high beam.

Polaris has a optional recall to get a heat shield installed on the right side of the motor near the exhaust. I'd suggest anyone who has a sportsman 450-570 to get it done. Helps block the heat tremendously, I scratched my leg while riding and the heat melted my glove. So word of warning to riders.
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 6 лет назад
Oh wow thank you for that info. I will have to ask the dealership when I go in for the first service. I have noticed that the right side of the ATV is very hot. I would like to have the heat shield if it would help with that.
@ljonesto
@ljonesto 6 лет назад
Yep I got the heat shield installed on mine. I ride slow to medium speeds so the heat was very noticeable. Now I do not even notice the heat. BTW, I bought the exact machine in April 2017.
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 6 лет назад
I just had the heat shield installed! Much better. Now I can ride and not have burned ankles. Are you enjoying your machine so far?
@ljonesto
@ljonesto 6 лет назад
Land to House Yes I love my ride. I get on it twice a month and ride in the ATV trails in a few of the forest down here. I got about 40 hours on it. She has been flawless in her performance. Where u located?

Trail riding is a lot of fun. I am looking to go more next year. I am in the mountains of NC.

Should be able to change the gauge stuff while running. Just use park or neutral. Unless they changed it from two years ago.
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 7 лет назад
I bet it can. I am just a little frightened of pushing that button while moving.
@jeremyjwolff
@jeremyjwolff 7 лет назад
Park or neutral. It only works to lock the front diff in reverse, gives 4x4 in reverse and allows full power.
@LandtoHouse

I dont hunt myself but I can see that this machine would be great for that. I have had over 450 pounds riding on it at a time and it had no issues.

Definitely gonna need a good place to store that, got any plans for a barn or large shed in the future? They sure are fun machines!!!
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 7 лет назад
+Mr. Wizard for a somewhat temporary storage location I have ordered a 12 by 12 shed in a box. Most people get a year-and-a-half out of the tarp but I think because it will be in the shade half the day I will get longer than that.
@stevenguenther1088
@stevenguenther1088 7 лет назад
Land to House if the trap lasts that long just another one to replace it until future plans for a barn/solid she'd come along?
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 7 лет назад
+Mr. Wizard yes! Those replacement tarps are around $150. So if I can make one last 2 years I will be good to go for a long time.

This was less than 5k. It has been so nice to have around the property. This past week I have hauled 6 loads of rock and logs in a trailer. Not sure what I did without it.

I just sold my 2014 Sportsman 570 because I wasn't using it enough. Planning on buying a new one next year when I will be needing one again. Can't decide on the 570 or the 450. I'll watch a few reviews to make my decision. How do you like the 450 power?
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 6 лет назад
+J Bouchard to be honest I don't know any different. The 450 is my first machine to own. The last machine I rode was a 350 2 wheel drive from the 80's. So I think it is amazing. I have not yet pulled a trailer or pushed the snow plow but I have a feeling for my needs it will be sufficient.
@peterness280

Land to House that makes sense, looked at a 17 today and was jealous of your price, but the one I looked at had PS. Thanks for the quick reply. I sub'd too, looks like a cool channel
@LandtoHouse
@LandtoHouse 6 лет назад
+Kevin Montalto I have really enjoyed this machine. It takes Hills like you wouldn't believe. I just need to find more time to ride. Next year I intend on having a snow plow and possibly a lawn mower attachment. Thank you for subscribing. My channel has all kinds of stuff on it.
