I just had a customer drop off the same engine with an oil consumption and smoke problem. I'll be doing a leak down test to identify potential problems before I take the engine apart. You can fill the intake and exhaust runners with kerosene to identify valve face and seat problems once the head is removed.

the next time you have to remove a engine with removable engine mounts. Use the lower engine mounts to fab up a jig to hold the engine in place. this makes the head bolts and such easier to deal with.

Alright I have been looking for some info on valve guides. I have had a valve guide sheer off and I'm trying to figure out if I can do this myself or have to send it out to a machine shop

Do you need to remove the engine to replace the head gasket? My 2018 Scrambler service manual mentions a removable frame brace on the right side of the machine.

Can change rod bearing and pistons without removing the engine? By removing head and oil pan while its in atv? Is there access from bottom to remove oil pan complete?

Good old Polaris engineering. Can't just give you a ft/lbs torque for final tightening. They just want you to go so far and then pull it to a 90 angle??? That's nice. It ends up being well over 100 ft/lbs on 6 bolts that would easily be tight enough at 70 ft/lbs.

Maybe I missed it in the first video, how many miles on this machine?

I think you the valve are a number one issue. The valves seats need to be cleaned better or the replace the old one because valves and seals will eventually fail crack or be worn fast if used again and oil will be sucked into the engine cylinders and the engine will use more oil like my Polaris Scrambler 850 2015. Dealer is fixing it tomorrow and two valves I believe exhaust valve have heavy carbon buildup. The need to remove at least the two to see if they have carbon buildup on the inside where it seats.
