Side by sides are very handy around the farm. I have a quad and a side-by-side, and both get used. Both have their purposes and are very handy. I know you'll make an informed decision on the brand. Looking forward to seeing what you get.
Congratulations on 1000 subscribers! Polaris is nice, lots of dealers around, but it seems they have recalls every other day. In the end I think Honda would be a better buy. I would look at serviceability too.
Thanks. There must be a hundred Rangers for sale near me in the 5-10K price range. I intend to do most of my service like with all my farm equipment. Recalls scare me😮.
Congrads on the big 1000 subscribers... We have a Polaris Crew{ 4 person} 570...It gets used constantly around the farm. One of my friends has a Honda 700, it has been trouble free...Next one we get will be a Can Am Defender with the 6' box....Thank Dave.
I have 2 Hondas. At one point, I had 3. I have a Kubota diesel UTV with a hydraulic dump box. It listed for $14,000 brand new. Now they have gotten really expensive. I totally agree with you on the reliability part. I have never been overly impressed with Polaris until Jay, my renter, got his latest one. It is a really nice unit. Has a cab but no heat or ac, but it is a little mountain goat. It won’t pull or haul like my Kubota but it will go places you have no business going and get you back besides. Whatever direction you decided to go, I can tell you one thing. You will be glad you did. You are going to wonder how you ever farmed without it. Good luck guys!
My neighbor has a Kubota with heat and ac and that’s what got me interested in a UTV. It really works for his operation with two farmsteads and sprawling fields around the neighborhood like ours. Problem is expense like you’ve noted…and no used ones around here. I’m wondering how much towing capacity I’ll really need with tractors available.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn , mine is basically a little 4wd tractor with a dump box on it. Mine is open station for which working down in my woods is great. It has a bench seat so you can access it from either side which is also very handy. You can buy an aftermarket soft side cab for winter use which would be nice but at what point do you quit spending money? Iowa doesn’t have many of those money trees in this growing zone. I have yet to find one on this farm 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks Dave
@@tractortalkwithgary1271seems like open would be better for fencing. We really don’t need a high speed one. Love the idea of a bench seat. Hauling grandchildren 😊
Morning D&D,coffee is on and a nice surprise of a new RHF video! Which has a better service and parts structure in your area? You know the story…if there’s no parts around,EVERYTHING is going to break.
Great suggestion! The good news is the closest dealer sells and maintains both. We also have an independent rebuild guy just down the road who works on all ATV’s. He’s fixed our Yamaha.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn , well if you’ve got a mechanic nearby, the service center nearby that handles both then it’s fine. The one that’s priced right, that fits your operation. Whatever you do and most importantly,… which one does Dawn like the best …remember if momma ain’t happy ,nobody happy.
If you are still shopping, you can't go wrong with a can am defender. Also, if thinking about tracks, make sure its atleast 1,000cc as they take a lot of power.
Not think about tracks but we expect to pull wagons and stuff around the yard. Seems like most of the Rangers are 570cc and the Hondas are 700. Is 700 enough?
@Rollinghillsfarmsmn I personally wouldn't get anything smaller than a 1,000cc for farm use. I know Honda does make a pioneer 1,000cc if you are stuck on Honda.
@@Rollinghillsfarmsmn Not sure, but neutral into forward or reverse is always horrendous on all of them for some reason. Seem just like a terrible design. The Kubotas (and probably Hondas too) seem much better built
