I hate to add advice after to late, but the old days they always cut a 45* cut on the bottom of the siding 1x12 . It helped to keep the bottom of the board from rotting out. the angle made the water to run down to the tip of the cut instead of hanging on to a flat surface.
@camaro6810
no sense getting too accurate with those cuts if that wood isnt dry, she's gonna shrink up on you

I can't get wood or metal prices like that, in our area. Within the city limits, metal roof is required to have lightening rods 2' tall every 10' ground with copper wire on both ends. I argued with them showing where metal roofs are proven in Florida to not encourage lightening strikes as any other roof material. I am not building to the cities standards code requirements or any building. Nothing but a small shed. 48" deep is required and rock in the hole with wet spots needing a pencil tip or frost heave will push them up. I had one fence post show me this problem after in ground 12 years, it lifted 5 inches. At 66, I am throwing the towel.

Why would you nail both sides of a fresh sawn still green board? The whole board and batten system is designed so the wood boards can move with moisture by nailing only one side of each board.
@WolfgangR75
Pro Tip. if u cut to bottom in a 15-25 degree angel. So u have a sharp edge at the fornt. So the water can drop easy. this Wood last much longer

It’s a lot easier to get a bow out if you put the bow in and walk the bow out from one end to the other fastening as you go. Your horizontal gable door track board has siding butting it without any Zee channel flashing keeping water out. When you interrupt vertical siding with a horizontal piece the siding landing on it needs a flashing. You should also flash the siding tops under that board.

Bout to redo ours 😢 about 60yrs old give or take. Think plastic covers for posts to help prevent rot in the ground. That's issue rn it's just collapesing
@seantinsley1411
Pine is not very rot resistant. Are you spraying a wood preservative on the outside?

Here's a dream, building a pole barn that mice cannot get into.... I plan on building a pole shed 14x24 and I fight mice access day in and day out with the current 10x20 storage shed. I'm thankful for bucket traps! This looks great, it is giving me a lot of ideas on what I am looking to do....Thank you for vlogging this build!!

I like the appearence of the Barn with wood siding a lot. The total to date shows what is possible cost wise if one works his butt off. Are you nailing only one side of battens to allow wood to move? Ray Stormont

Awesome video :)
@coryrichard486
Keep the videos coming! I just binge watched your whole barn build series. That is gonna be awesome when you’re finished.
@neilgibbs3880
Amazing job as always. Looking forward to the next episode.
@sociopathmercenary
Awesome build sir.

Looks nice! Board and batten was actually created as a technique to install green lumber and not have it crack from drying after install. The technique involves installing the boards with as many as two nails and leaving a gap between the boards. The batten was installed over the gap with just one nail installed through the batten and in the gap into the frame of the building but not through the “boards”
@FuZioNxYT
I love it!
@Overpar73
That's looking very nice!
@toddcaskey9984
Awesomeness
@robertyoungs6360
It’s looking so good. Thanks for videoing your progress. I’m thinking to build a similar structure for a shop soon.
