I'd like to see that with a Pinion gearbox.

Seconded. I am keeping my trek rail until I can get an E1.12 belt drive bike in the US, and that will be when I upgrade next. Upgrading to another dangly derailleur bike just seems like throwing bad money after good when it's obvious that motor gearbox bikes are the future.

@@m4ximusprim3 With the trek rail if you can take apart your chain stays and thread a belt drive you can do it with a internal geared hub and get rid of the derailleur. You can even run a single speed with a tensioner on your DH/Shuttle days with a chain.

Absolutely love the thought process and engineering that has gone into these bikes. With all the new bikes coming out and never being a pole owner. Leo your focus and determination on perfection makes me absolutely certain of my choice in pre-ordering the sonni downduro. Thank you!

I love my Voima, and the Sonni looks great, but I don’t know why anyone would want less travel! 160/170 is lame! The kinematics are so good, that less is just less! It pedals so good, any less travel just makes no sense! But I get it, it’s a business decision because so many people are brainwashed into thinking that more travel is bad and less is good. They have no idea how good the bike is with more travel. There is literally no downside to having more travel on the Voima or Sonni! Whatever! I’m still enjoying my 48lb 190/200 race ID Voima until a new Pole with a pinion MGU with belt drive or Bosch equivalent is available for my next ebike. 🤘🏻😎

Always better to be over biked than under biked. More air compensates to act like a shorter travel version.

When I ordered my Vikkelä last November, I asked whether they will make a shorter travel option - at that point they said there were no such plans. I went ahead and got the 190/190, and I‘m really glad I did. There’s only upsides to more travel, and it just rides so well that I don’t see any benefit in reducing the travel. However, creating bike frames with that versatility in travel one can run is no small feat!

Stunning bike. Only concern is how exposed the motor is in terms of wet weather riding, most of the year in the UK, anything that avoids moisture directly coming into contact with the motor can only be good from a practical view. This design will allow mud to hit the motor directly and then when you clean it afterwards more moisture. If this issue was dealt with then I'd have one, even having an alternative bash guard with more mud protection as an option.

I really dig them, great work once again. It looks a bit like my 1989 Kestrel MXZ 😊 the only drawback I can think of is the ultra short Seat mast, being 2,02m I can not imagine there is a post long or strong enough with only 350mm. My current , although quite a bit older bike is about 550mm... And a Pinion gearbox would make it an absolute must have

Also, the "axis-eses" should be on the same level to reduce bending and wear on the shock. Otherwise it becomes like a very long three-part rod with plastic bushings holding it together in two places. When the plastic wears out (in about 5 minutes) the next thing to wear is the rear shock. At least in my head. Very cool design. Will borrow some of it in my own design. :)

Enjoyed the video .... really awesome the thought and care that goes into the process of design and manufacture. Finally a bike company that thinks through how to simplify the maintenance aspects for the bike owner. Wish all bike companies operated in the manner that you do with respect to design, rideability, service and maintenance. Have one question and likely that you can't answer. Assuming that there are near term plans to incorporate a motor/gearbox, similar to what Pinion has developed. Makes sense to eliminate a cassette and derailleur ... especially for ebikes.

It should be possible to attach the bottle in the middle of the top tube. An additional compromise solution for those with short legs and those who want to lower the saddle even lower.

I’ve been watching pole for 5 years now. Hoping to get a sonni when I’m back in the USA in about 6 months. My only concern is that I’m hopeful I can stick a 240 oneup dropper in there. Or at least a 210 and put a switchgrade on. I’m used to 230/240 and don’t know if I can go back 😂.

Fantastic build. I'm loving my Voima. Question: I would like to get a 155mm 5DEV crankset for my bike. Have you tried this size on your ebikes? I have a set of 155mm FSA cranks, but they hit the non-driveside plastic cover on the motor. So I can't use them. Thanks again.

So many questions. Did you say you can covert the 170/160 into a dh bike .how much travel would it have.can it take triple clamp forks thanks Callum
@leo_kokkonen
@leo_kokkonen 11 месяцев назад
This bike can be changed to 160 or 200 at the moment by just changing a yoke and a shock. 230x60mm for 160mm travel and 250x75mm for 200

I would love to see how it feels compared to my Voima. Are there any plans to make a stealth mid-power emtb using the Bosch SX, Fazua, TQ,....? It seems that is where my next purchase is leaning. Love the bike though!
@leo_kokkonen
@leo_kokkonen 11 месяцев назад
Motor companies require somewhat hefty MOQ's so it's not easy to jump into more motor options even though our production is quite flexible. Keeping hundreds of motors and batteries in stock from multiple versions is not cheap. Sonni concept could be designed with different motors.
@callumcopley6780
@callumcopley6780 10 месяцев назад
Could I get a sonni dh with 12 speed new brose motor with triple clamp forks or is it easier to adjust travel on the single crown for if reducing travel to 170/160 .I'm 5 foot 9 85kg what frame would be best please. Stocked

Terrible frame geometry, top tube way too high, a real crotch/nut crusher, you don't even need to fall just a more sudden stop is enough for injury. Anything that goes off road --> top tube should be as low as possible a the standabove point (check unno mith), here it's stupid high there, completely uncessary. Another bike designed just to "look kool".
@Frater_Maven
@Frater_Maven 10 месяцев назад
Because I get what you're saying about the unno and lower standovers are more comfortable typically because they allow for the widest possible range of dynamic movement. However that is clearly not the intention that they had with the design language here. Everything with bike setup is a trade off. What's this frame indicates is that Leo was prioritizing a longer wheelbase, which obviously means longer chain stay, longer front center and longer reach, in concert with a high stack height. He chose to design the frame with those aspects rather than with the low standover height. It's a trade-off. I don't believe that there's a wrong or a right when it comes to personal preference but that's just me
@Frater_Maven
@Frater_Maven 10 месяцев назад
For example I have a friend who has a 2020 Unno Dash trail bike. The first thing I noticed when he let me ride it was how low the bar felt compared to my transition patrol. The stack height is so much lower that you are put into a position where more of your weight is on the front wheel then you're used to unless you have a bike with similar geo. That super low stack height helps keep the top tube low which helps keep the stand over height low. However in my personal opinion the Dash had too steep of a head tube angle, too slack of a seat tube angle, too short of a wheel base and way too low of a stack height. It felt like a gravel riders short travel trail bike with dated geometry to me. Again I don't think there is such thing as right and wrong with personal preference and taste
@georgiluchkov8535
@georgiluchkov8535 10 месяцев назад
Geometry of these bikes is a complete nightmare, more suitable for a road bike, high bottom bracket, short head tube and result is short stack, if biker is tall more than a 180cm riding position is scary and comic.
