Definitely agree it's more premium. The interior is nicer and it has features such as drivers screen and indicator stalk. The Tesla looks cheap inside.

Just had the opportunity to drive a RWD Polestar 2 for one full day, it's a great car, nice interior in a subdued Scandinavian style. But much better perceived quality than a Tesla 3, better handling, lower road noise, understandable easy controls. More expensive but not by too much...and it's a hatchback, which is important in Europe

I traded my 2021 TM3 for a 2024 LRDM PS2 with plus and pilot. I have only had it for 3 months, but I can say for sure I would never go back to a Tesla. This is so much better to drive, better quality and in fact better "tech". Tesla is low quality and lots of gimmicky features. It was also way more noise.

The interior of Polestar, and the work they have done to the chassis and suspension caters to the few who wants more than just nice transportation. A wise choice given you cannot compete with Tesla on range/features/price. The driving experience of a Tesla Model Y is quite underwhelming, and the interior lacks pizzazz. This is by design, I'm quite sure, as Tesla caters to buyers who are not into driving at all. I think the Polestar 2 competes with Audi Q8 Etron, Mercedes EQE, Lexus RZ and Cadillac Lyriq. And in that segment, the price is not far off. Well done, Polestar.

Honestly, except for the price, I would not classify any Tesla as being a luxury car. That interior is just way Way _WAY_ too sparse to be considered "luxury". Technologically advanced? Sure. But luxurious? Not a chance.

I bought a used Polestar 2 and it‘s the best car I ever owned. Great build quality. Many parts are Volvo parts. I also like the Tesla Model 3, but chose the PS because you can use Volvos Service Network in Europe and because of the much nicer interior.

and you can also charge on Teslas chargers in the EU (not that there is a lack of options in Norway). I saw that this summer they will be able to charge on Teslas superchargers in the US as well.

@@windowman9665they are driving in Sweden seen it many times last months up in north Sweden. Seen it in Gothenburg and Stockholm also. Saw it first in north Swedish snow storm this wiinter they do all work on the cars in Sweden. Only production in china.

Tesla cars or Model Y is not luxury car. It is more than like Toyota category (basic good ev-car) what means good but nothing special. Tesla's main idea is to make cars as cheap as possible. Nothing wrong about that but it is not a luxury ev-brand.. End of the story,

@@hakonpettersen4140 It also a bit depends what you mean by tech. Like electric motors are pretty good (not best but pretty good). Infotainment is technically great and fast (that said usability maybe not the best). Mobile app is great! Driving dynamics / comfort tech at low level (=you have either one and not both and on slippery roads ESP gets crazy). Lights / wipers / phantom breaking ... some basic stuff still does not work that well.

The Polestar 4 is a beautiful vehicle but I would bre concerned that it has such a large battery but not more range than a Model Y. That extra weight is going to burn up the tires quicker. Tesla is doing everything they can to reduce weight and improve efficiency which seems the smarter strategy. My next vehicle will probably be a refreshed Model Y when it comes out.

@@yojoe4830 No, they are not cheaply made. They have excellent engineering and the 4 highest rated vehicles for safety ever recorded. Engineers who have torn down Teslas have stated they are way ahead of anything that has been produced in the past. You are just repeating false information.

Safety is something many cars have and have the same 5 star level...that doesn't mean they're well built, or don't have trucks that leak, etc. You're just angry because I stated facts. That's your issue, not mine. For you to say, or even HINT, that all bad reports about Tesla are 'false' while blindly believing shills for Tesla is beyond hypocritical.

To me the Polestar 4 looks much better then the Tesla Y (which is an everyday EV in my neighborhood). Their ugly and nothing special.... I much prefer the Rivian to anything currently avaiable

Just another ev with a curved back end that is not practical. As soon as somebody comes out with a cheap to mid-priced pickup of a squared off back end SUV that I can use to go to Home Depot and buy outdoor furniture or other bulky items I will buy an ev. Can you imagine if Tesla came out with a regular mid priced pickup that they could mass produce right away?

I don’t believe Polestar is trying to go mass market, rather premium sports sedan, like BMW perhaps. Porsche are different. They don’t believe in speed limiters, so it’s Z rated tires and the bills to match. They’re famous for their reliability but don’t believe in regeneration/one-pedal drive. Then there’s the cost and the options list. I like them, but I’d never want one.

Idk where you're getting your info from, because the 4 isn't available in the USA yet... Yes, you can place your deposit, but you cant own or lease one yet. The current (and outgoing) model Y is a bargain. How much a new model Y performance will be when the P4 comes out will be interesting. I’ve a feeling that a P4 performance is going to get some great reviews, so I’m sure Tesla is going to be taking this car very seriously.

@@andreasl4507 AWD long range polestar 4 has 270 miles range with 102 kwh battery. AWD Model Y long range has 310 mile range with 82 kwh battery. Quick math says the model Y is 39% more efficient than the polestar 4.

Very nice. Hard to pay that price for that range. Feels like paying to wait. Waiting in luxury yes, but waiting still. I kind of expect these luxury cars to push the boundary on range rather than just just meet the minimum bar.

I saw it yesterday at the NY auto show. It is more stylish and premium than a Model Y. For me, that's not even a question. All Polestars are beautiful. Besides it being a Chinese car, which makes it a nonstarter for me, the issue I had with this car is that the interior is very cavelike. The lack of a rear window makes the interior very dark and uninviting.

Model Y LR now around 50k but there is still the 7500 fed discount. Plus now the self driving is getting good. Plus the software support on a Y and the self driving possibility .

The FSD costs 12k usd and all you get is the joy of watching the car drive you around like an insecure teenager with a driving permit, while you sit ready to take over at any time so it doesn't dent your car or potentially kill you. Sure the tech is impressive as a tech demo, but it will never be able to drive your kids to school.

The Polestar 4 is maybe more a competitiors to the even more expensive new Audi Q6?😳 Haven't had the opportunity to drive none of them, but have sitten in the Polestar 4. Nice interior and little of the cheap plastic compared to Audi's cars in the last years. But I'm curious to upcoming Model Y juniper!? Will it be just as good (ore perhaps bether) than the new M3?😳 Then I think it will have the oportunity to be comared with them both to a price that none can compite.😉

The polestar company does all work in Sweden with Volvo. My dad work at Volvo in Gothenburg and polestar is in the same building they work together on almost everything also got the same work place up in north Sweden with there own lake where all testing is Done. You all gotta realax. The only thing about polestar company is that they got a chines company that own them and then polestar use there production in china.

If I can say anything about Polestar, I don't think anyone whose cross shopping a Mercedes, Audi, or BMW is going to give one look at Polestar. Firstly, Polestar does not have the build quality or interior quality as Mercedes, Audi, or BMW. Just get in a Volvo and then get in an Audi and you'll know why the Audi costs more. I think Polestar is attempting to be a competitor to Porsche, but the truth of the matter is they don't have the design language, the heritage, or the engineering capability to rival Porsche. The Macan EV starts at around $80,000 and if I had to bet which will sell better, the Macan EV or the Polestar 4, my money is on the Macan, because anyone whose in the market to buy a luxury sports car is going to buy a Porsche. I know this because I have friends who own Porsches and when they saw the Macan EV they signed up to buy one. There's no rear window, which anyone whose buying a luxury car will look at and think "why would I buy this?" The trunk space is not great, the ergonomics are not great in the rear seat as the headroom is bad. It's objectively a bad car and if I had to bet whether this will be a success or a failure, my money is on this being a flop.

@@andreasl4507 well given how bad your english is I can only assume you also don't know what you're talking about, because I've been to Manhattan Polestar, test drove Polestars, and I am saying with a great amount of confidence, they're not at the same level as Audi, BMW, or Mercedes. Look at the Polestar 2's interior and how cramped it is compared to the Model 3. While it was a design choice, it wasn't a great one. The material quality just isn't on the same level, as most Chinese manufacturers are not competition on the same level of quality as Audi, Mercedes, or BMW. I know this because I visited China.

@@yslee1401 I think there are some choices Polestar is making that are great, but when it comes to the Polestar 4 in particular, it costs too much, its design is not going to work for most buyers, and when people cross shop it against an Audi Q6 E Tron or Porsche Macan EV, they're going to get the Audi or Porsche. The technology of the Audi and Porsche are better, the ride quality will be better, everything objectively speaking will be better. Which pits the question, whose going to buy the Polestar 4? It's not priced to compete with the Model Y and on the luxury end of things it's not a luxury vehicle.

My dad work at Volvo in Gothenburg and polestar is in the same building they work together on almost everything also got the same work place up in north Sweden with there own lake where all testing is Done. You all gotta realax. The only thing about polestar company is that they got a chines company that own them and then polestar use there production in china.

There’s a lot of speculation about this. Volvo and Polestar share the same campus in Gothenburg for their headquarters, and the same factory for the EX90/Polestar 3. What are the chances that the boards of Polestar, Volvo and Geely reached a decision? A number of people sit on all 3. Volvo is transitioning to all electric by 2030, Polestar only builds electric now and Geely is the common bond. No idea who has the service contract, but Polestar has their own spaces and service centres. Australia may also allow service by accredited Volvo dealerships - that varies. You should check if you’re interested. They do share the same VIDA diagnostic platform and Android interface.

@@andreasl4507 I wish it was that simple. Maybe the help desk was confused, but I called in Canada, and right now you have to take the car to the Polestar centre, which is a ferry ride away from us. When the P2 came out, my Volvo dealer was the service centre. Hopefully they will sort this out. They need mobile service and Volvo dealer support IMO. While Scandinavia is big, Canada is truly vast. A lot of provinces have only a few dealers and no Polestar spaces. It’s going to take time I suppose. Really like the new cars but out of caution I’m keeping my Volvo.

They used to have a guarantee that top of the line Polestar would hold 36.5 percent of purchase price after 4 years 60,000 km but they quietly removed it. Maybe but some of their stock to help recoup some of the depreciation?

Technically everyone is more luxurious than Tesla, but noone has profitable EVs or such a good experience of use. It's something like Apple and Android situation, a lot of Android phones are better than iPhones spec wise, but people still choose iPhones because of the software, integration and experience.

@sunnyd6291 Depends, cameras, battery and chip are a tiny bit better on the iPhone and it's slightly cheaper. But you get much more features on the android which makes it a bit more confusing for non tech users. The ease of use with the IOS is definitely the reason so many people choose Apple, and most of the time everything just works, sometimes it's literally like magic. They can make this experience because they make the hardware and the software which makes this comparison with Tesla even more true. I'm personally an Android user. I like to have the freedom to do stuff on my phone but almost everyone I know doesn't really care about any of that stuff, they just want a good reliable phone (or a car) that'll do as advertised without hassle.

@@jasoncork9661 sure, not really a problem. If you only charge on road trips, the extra cost isn't a big deal. Tesla also sell a subscription I think, so you get a lower rate. Good for frequent charging. Might also be included in the Polestar plugsurf subscription, not entirely sure.

Charging network might be an issue somewhere else than in Nordics. A lot of charging stations from multiple vendors .... Tesla SC is actually minority, but all cars can use them also anyway.

I’m so tired of everyone thinking performance is hiw fast a vehicle goes from 0-100km. ITS NOT. Tesla fan boys LOVE how they can brag to their buddies about the super fast 0-100km. Who cares Any car around 4 seconds is plenty fast. It’s the cornering / handling / braking / suspension / dampening which makes a true performance luxury vehicle. That’s where polestars really gets it. It’s like the Mercedes AMG’s. It’s a step above the “normal” luxury vehicles

Hey genius it's actually the EPA testing cycle that's to blame. That was recently changed and since you don't pay attention to these things, but if you did you would notice that in fact the range estimates have come down despite the fact that the vehicle is more efficient, suggesting that the range estimates are now much more accurate. Get educated and stop spreading FUD.
