It has to be one of the most stylish EV manufacturing car companies. Their designs are so hot. The missing back window has helped make the rear of the car look so sleek and very unique.

I'm fine with no rear window as long as the rear camera is 100% reliable.

It was great to see Jordan again. He has great delivery while being detailed. I hope to see more of his work.

Great video, as always! The concept of rear view camera and no rear window is 100% right, but the rear mirror screen shouldn't sit in the roof but be integrated in the center infotainment screen. Why, you say? Progressive glasses. Yes, progressive glasses. A lot of people ion the target group have progressive glasses, allowing you to focus (your old and tired 40+yo eyes) on things far away in the upper region and nearer things in the lower region of the glass. For these people (yes, me included) focusing on something less than a meter away that sits in the roof just doesn't work without changing glasses or pointing your nose upward (and thus losing focus on the road). What polestar should do is to present an option in the menus, mirroring (haha pun not intended) the rear view in an area of the center screen.

I was there, too, as a happy Polestar owner. Was a fun event and I enjoyed seeing the 5 and riding in the Polestar 3 & 4. Thanks for the invitation, Polestar, and thanks to Jordan and OoSR for another great review. I'm considering the 4 as the future replacement of my 2. BTW, my husband's Silverado has the camera rear-view mirror and he never switches it to the glass mirror mode, so it must be good enough even in the rain and at night. FWIW, the Polestar team member driver for my ride-along mentioned that the rear-view mirror can flip to mirror mode so the driver can make eye-contact with the rear-seat passengers/back-seat children.

I can’t remember the last time I’ve looked through the rear glass window to check. I’ll look over both shoulders to check for oncoming cars, but I always use a backup camera, as it gives a wider, clearer view behind me. Rear window or not, who cares.

Polestar is really going in an interesting direction. Building out a real portfolio of vehicles. I like the numbering system, but it should make more sense in terms of size of car IMO. Hoping they keep the 2 in the line-up as an "entry-level" hatch long term. Also let's see if they are brave (foolish?) enough to bring a real wagon to the market. That's the dream!

Polestar's only issue is their pricing. P2 and P4 should start a bit lower imo.

I actually like the idea of having no back glass. It’s quirky but offers a lot of benefits. I would consider one but efficiency is such a let down. Just throwing a big battery at it is not a valid solution. This get about the same range as my Kona with 35 extra KWhs. (Yes I understand it’s bigger and more powerful but still.)

RIDE is the same as LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION for me - lousy ride and noise, no deal. These guys need to remember that they are making cars and not iPhones on wheels. For Kyle it's all about road handling and control. For me it's all about a Rolls Royce ride and noise. Two different markets right there.

Need to drive in mucky weather to see if the cameras instead of window get mucked up

I am in love P4! I have Volvo C40 that has rear window but it’s small and if headrests are up or there is somebody sitting on rear seat you cannot see nothing. I also hate to see audirings and bimmerpropeller at rear view mirror so I have adjusted it showing the sky from panorama window. Actually when you have proper side mirrors and blind spot warning, 360 cameras and cross traffic warning, you don’t need rear view mirror and rear window anymore.

Most premium car drivers usually don't look at what's behind them anyways so I don't think the camera instead of rear view mirror will make any difference. Really nice car!

I really like this - I’ve had a Polestar 2 for 3 years now, which is going back before Xmas. I wanted a Polestar 3 as a replacement but that was delayed until Q4 2024, so I went with a BMW iX, which is being delivered in 3 weeks. For my next car I’m looking at a Lotus Eletre, Polestar 3 or this Polestar 4. Polestar making some desirable cars !

As long as the rear view is good, i'm fine with cameras, might take some getting used too. It does make the rear storage bigger. NVH better too indeed

Love it. The no-rear-window thing seems to have the mouth breathers out in force, getting angry that something is different or hasn’t been designed specifically for them, but that rear space looks incredible as a result. And given how tiny and useless most rear windows are anyway, I’m totally on board with it.

I would love polestar 4 to have rear glass. They acually can make the panaromic glass all the way to the back , but the trunk door will be a lot smaller .

It isn’t difficult to add a pressurised water jet to clean the review camera mirror. Land Rover has been fitting a washer jet to their back up cameras for years now, not to their Clearsight rooftop rear view cam mirrors because you don’t need one that high up. Also on more recent cars JLR allows you to view the back up cam all the time while driving if you want to.

Does anyone remember the Jaguar i-Pace? One might be excused for believing they just tweaked that design and did something weird with the rear hatch. I prefer the look of the i-Pace.

So where is the logic in allowing digital rear view mirror but not side view?

The rear view mirror as a display is awful. We have a conventional rear view mirror on our Rav4 that can be turned into a display when you flip a switch. The problem is that when you are driving, your eyes are focused at a long distance. Glancing at a conventional mirror doesn't change that focus. When the mirror is a display your focus has to change to a much shorter distance and it's uncomfortable. I don't like using ours that way for that reason. I can't imagine using display mirror all the time.

You mentioned the vents at the back are 'fake'. I wonder if they may actually have some purpose for aero, to send the air away from the back of the car?

Is the camera on the rear window heated? For example, in Norway it often happens that the snow that falls is slightly wet and in the morning at in the morning it is very frosty, so there will be a lot of ice on the rear camera that cannot be removed manually. Did the manufacturer remedy this somehow?

Thanks for the review. When you are assessing space, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE give us some context. We can see you are not fat or especially broad, but what is your height? We don't have the pleasure of knowing you personally, so don't know if you are 5ft or 7ft. Just saying 'this is fantastic... there is so much headroom' makes little sense without a frame of reference. What is it like if you are over 6ft 5? Average sized viewers probably don't care as they rarely struggle for space or subsequent comfort, but those of us gifted with extra height, width or odd body shapes really want to know how comfortable it might be for our needs. I do hope this is taken constructively, I have no intention of knocking what is a very watchable and informative video from one of my favourite channels. I loved your Polestar range recap at the end, thanks.

Finding a place to take a polestar for service is kinda wild though, no? In NY state, I think there’s one location outside of Manhattan, just 2 in the entire state. And I don’t see a single Polestar location in the USA that exists west of Cincinnati. How does that work? Can you take it to Volvo?

As a @GenesisUSA GV-60 owner the moment we got to the headlights I was rolling my eyes and muttering “how original”, then we got to 2:40 and I 😂 Lower side trim to achieve slimming effect… even less original Electro chromatic roof is cool. Bar taillight.

The problem I'm having is all the talk of no rear window dominating the impressions of this car. The biggest takeaway I take from the Polestar 4 is it has the same problem as the new Volvo EM90. It's not as obvious but it is really more based on a Zeekr design than a Polestar/Volvo design. I don't care about the platform because you can tweak the chassis to drive the way a signature brand drives. And motors and such don't matter as much as engines. The SEA had a Swedish head engineer anyway and it is solid. But this car has a different feel to it than does the 2, 3, and upcoming 5 and 6 as from what we know of them so far, they follow the formula of other Polestars. I do like that it looks like a sedan but I'd rather a non-bloated tall sedan. Still, good enough. This is potentially Polestar's best seller.

I really want to know if this has an integrated front and rear dash cam. Dash cam is a must for me. I would normally be cool with installing myself. But, without a rear window, I need Polestar to have one that comes with the car.

Good to get rid of the rear window as long as I can get something in return -- that is to get more storage room in the trunk. I only look at the rear view mirror, not the rear window anyway.

My lease is up on my P*2 at the end of 2024. Im really excited by this car, but I’m also kinda holding my breath for a revamped 2 on a dedicated platform.

What I don't understand is, without a rear glass but with the digital mirror which uses a camera, what happens when the camera lens is wet during rain or snow? That camera will be useless which means the digital rear view mirror is also useless. Am I wrong in thinking this?

Digital rear mirror is all I use anyways, hope the dynamic range of the camera is good enough for the night. May render car useless if lcd breaks. What’s great is harder for thieves to break window and steal belongings

I greatly prefer a number naming scheme as opposed to a name

People complain about the rear view camera even though you see better and you get night vision. I don't get it. Try parking your old car at night compared to parking a new car with camera and sensors. The new car is way easier and safer. How can anyone argue that you see better with a window who often is blocked by seats, heads, the sun or baggage? I would understand the complaints if they block the side doors like a van.

I have the Polestar 2 and it’s a great drive so far, but I’m definitely upgrading to the Polestar 4 once my lease ends. Really don’t mind the lack of rear window, but I love SUV coupes and this feels like it’s the perfect combo size of sporty crossover and big sedan.

I’m actually digging this new model. Glad they’ve move the infotainment screen horizontally. I’m looking to get my first car after 12 years without one and am excited to see what electric cars are becoming. Was considering Tesla X but is it really worth it for the price?!

Rear view mirror: when the choice is between trying to peer through the small letterbox and a digital rear view mirror, I'll pick a digital one. Stems from owning a Y.

If I can get passed the lack of physical rear-window, think I might trade-in my P2 for this.

I would prefer a longer(wider) rear view monitor device to feel width of the rear window.

The reasoning for lack of rear window that were given so far dont really make any sense. The type of material cannot affect the space for people in the back, or the height of roof over the heads. If you took that car into a body shop and they just cut out the current cover and installed a piece of glass instead of it that would not change the dimensions of the car in any way. You may even get a few millimeters or centimeters of space above heads because glass is thinner. You can also put that back camera on its own little pillar - horizontal strip above the glass, so that reason doesn't make any sense either. You could have that same camera and a bit more glass in the back. There is no reason why a bit more glass would somehow prevent you from having the same camera. Even if the view from the glass was somehow a bit constricted - mostly due to the height of the back side so you probably could not see straight behind and bellow of the back of the car ... you can have all the usual rear cameras and this new one. The car even has a cutout ridge, or line over the back clearly visible when you look at it from above, that looks like a line where the glass edge is supposed to be, that you could use to cut the cover and fit the same glass the roof is made from.

looks like the dual motor is 316 miles of range, id guess the rear wheel drive is between 330-350.

Too bad the camera lens mode was not the right one. Everything seemed wider.

Digital mirrors/cameras are fine when a) they work, b) they can clean themsleves... Otherwise you need to glue a guy with massive muscles to the boot lid.
