Well they did say they tried to get him help by going to MDPD but they turn them away so in a way it’s there fault to. What do a family do at that point if they know he was going crazy I’m pretty sure they didn’t want to intervene and possibly get killed trying to forcefully get him baker acted. This just proves we need to reopen mental health facilities there too many crazy people said to say they need help but aren’t offer services and most of them in up in dade county jail were they get no help and are just released.

We as parents have to educate ourselves about mental health...At first hand I would have removed all weapons first! A family member should have stayed with him every step of the way until they got the help he needed especially if the family have history of mental issues get court orders to make decisions on they behalf when they going through a crisis where they can't refuse the treatment they need.

Sorry family, but your brother shot and killed someone, shot at police and the police did what was necessary to protect everybody else. I wish the department would have helped the family in getting him some help when they came. To some degree, the refusal to help is a failure of the police. They should have taken the lead in getting him Baker Acted and hospitalized.
