Hats off to the captain and co-pilot! As a student mechanic (first quarter) I am wondering who messed up and forgot to check the fluid levels? Someone is going to be "kicking their lunch box down the ramp!" But that right there will be a "Major Repair" requiring a 337 form, replacement of skin (lots of riveting) and having to re-weigh and find the new center of gravity......While this equals an expensive repair job, the plane should be fixable, and law suits should be minimal.
@equarg I think its better to have a complete failure than to have for example the nose gear deploy along with one of the back gear. Now that would be a surreal failure for sure
@plsniper OHhh We have not quite covered non destructive testing yet. I did test a piece of exhaust for cracks (there were none) But yea....the whole bottom half has to be tested. But to have all three landing gears fail like that is almost surreal. There are so many fail safes in these modern planes. But yea...and electrical does make sense. It looks at though he had full control of the ailerons, rudders, elevators, ext, the FAA may or not report the findings (no in USA). Any AD's though?
