Heavy streamline grub style nymphs are extremely effective at catching trout. They imitate caddis larva, cranefly larva, and other large morsels. These flies work well in Czech Nymphing, and Euro Nymphing techniques, but are not limited to only those styles. Polish Woven Nymphs are deadly when fished correctly regardless of any particular method.
This video teaches how to tie woven flies. For effective color variations simply switch the colors of embroidery floss (or other materials used for weaving), the dubbing collar, or add a simple hot spot behind the bead. Be creative, it's the fun things to do, and most of these patterns will catch fish!
A special feature included in this video is that of Kohler accidentally clipping off his thread mid fly. Watch as he reattaches his thread and barely skips a beat ;) Since most of us have and will continue to occasionally make this mistake, especially in the middle of the night like when this fly was tied, it is good to see how he rebounds from this mishap. Enjoy!

I actually like the accidental cut thread - because I've been tying for 20 years and still find myself doing similar things occasionally. like the video - nice tutorial for beginners.

In what state do you fish these the most? I'm trying to figure out if they will work in eastern U.S. freestone streams. Thanks for the video.

Ive mostly fished them in Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. But, I’d fish them confidently in any river with caddis and craneflies anywhere in the world. These are based off from popular European patterns, and they fish well over there also. Hope it works well for you too!

@@GilbertRowley Thanks for the reply! I tied some, and will give them a try tomorrow. They are fun and easy to tie, and look cool. I will fish them with confidence based on your recommendation.
