Heavy streamline grub style nymphs are extremely effective at catching trout. They imitate caddis larva, cranefly larva, and other large morsels. These flies work well in Czech Nymphing, and Euro Nymphing techniques, but are not limited to only those styles. Polish Woven Nymphs are deadly when fished correctly regardless of any particular method.
This video teaches how to tie woven flies. For effective color variations simply switch the colors of embroidery floss (or other materials used for weaving), the dubbing collar, or add a simple hot spot behind the bead. Be creative, it's the fun things to do, and most of these patterns will catch fish!
A special feature included in this video is that of Kohler accidentally clipping off his thread mid fly. Watch as he reattaches his thread and barely skips a beat ;) Since most of us have and will continue to occasionally make this mistake, especially in the middle of the night like when this fly was tied, it is good to see how he rebounds from this mishap. Enjoy!
