Hi! I've watched a decent number of your videos and I appreciate them all. I wonder if you've tried the Naniwa pro/chosera 2000? I'm contemplating buying either that stone or the Naniwa Aotoishi. If you have tried the pro (I've seen you use the Aoto) what are the differences between the 2 stones in your opinion? Greetings from Sweden!

Hi! First of all thanks for commenting :) I have no experience with the 2k, but plenty with the 1k and 3k. The main difference would be hardness. The chosera is pretty forgiving while sharpening edge leading. The aotoshi feels smoother and is significantly softer making it easier to dig into it while sharpening. If you like soft muddy stones, and playing around with slurry go with the aotoshi. Its fun and its a ton of stone (almost literally) compared to the chosera. If you want a little less maintenance and just want to pick up and go, the choseras are great :)

@@lofotenknifeworks2278 Thank you for your answer! ^^ I've heard people say the Aoto loads up a lot. Would you say the load up is fine or is it more on the frustrating side? Also, is the Aoto on the same level as the Pros when dealing with powdered steels or is it worse?

@LisZam I'm also interested in the 2k stones and can share some opinions with you. Shapton kuromaku/pro 2k is awesome fast cutting and always gives a very toothy yet refined edge, I think that's the ideal finishing stone for most steel except highest quality ones like AS. About the green brick, without slurry there is extreme loadup, but I raise slurry with atoma 400 and it gets almost ok. However in my experience it is way too soft, similar to naniwa superstones, that feels like crayon and feels like a much higher grit stone, so for me not really ideal for setting a bevel etc. I don't really like it for any purpose to be honest. Chosera 3000 on the other hand, cuts very fast and hardness feels very good IMO. For chosera 2k, I'm also curious and planning to get one at some point. Hope it helps

Thank you for your detailed comment! Information will always help in some way ^^ I haven't tried any of the superstones but I sometimes sharpen on King 800/1200. They're fairly soft but I think it works well enough to sharpen on them (In regard to the softness I mean, the slowness of them is something I dislike) If you have tried the King stones would you say that the Aotoishi is as soft as them or is it harder?
