As an emergency physician, I get almost daily offers for work in several states. The first thing I do is look up the abortion and LGBTQ+ laws. If they are restrictive, my response to the job offer is "I do not anticipate working in a state where women's/human rights aren't respected." Has anyone researched whether there is a shortage of physicians in those states as a result? And whether med school graduates applying for EM and OB/gyn residencies are avoiding those states? I suspect they will become healthcare deserts, and not just for women of childbearing age.

I live in New Jersey, which is a very liberal state and sadly there's a shortage here of OB/GYN's so please send any doctors this way because it takes months to even get an appointment and I can only suspect maybe some people from Mother's Day are coming here but this has been going on for too long plus, we're completely overcrowded as a small state. We are the most populated state in the nation, we need more OB/GYN, especially good ones.

David Pakman asked Harris questions in a small group, off the record meeting at the WH. His opinion is that Harris is very well informed, pleasant and entirely competent public official. I think she’d be an excellent president and I am thrilled that Trump is so obviously scared. It’s turned the tables on the bully.
While Trump and Vance say creepy things every day, we should all focus on campaigning for Kamala Harris and other Democrats up and down the ballot. If you haven't started campaigning, start by talking to people around you, writing postcards, phone banking, text banking or even donating small amounts to Democratic candidates.

I'm waiting for ads from women that fought for abortion rights 50 years ago, and now have to fight for them again. I've seen them commenting online, and it's amazing to hear their stories about what was happening back then to women that couldn't get treatment and how they're seeing women going through it again now. I think there is a lot of independent and/or questioning women voters who need the reminder of what they had accomplished and how it's being taken away from the next generations.

I hear one advertisement that advises me to not vote for one candidate who would inflict on me a variable hell on earth. Then I hear another advertisement that advises me to vote for another candidate that will bring to my life overwhelming happiness and joy. I think people think inflation is the same as high prices 🤦🏼♀️ prices are high, to be fair, but wages haven’t increased with it and cost of living is high in many places. And while I’ve heard that wages are up, here in Georgia we have a state minimum wage of $5.15 an hour, $2.13 for tipped workers. Yes, state minimums apply in some circumstances so people can get paid that little for their work. We desperately need things like universal healthcare, rent control, lower drug prices, living wage, etc. all things that a democratic majority at the federal and state level can work towards. So long answer short, people on the right just don’t know the definition of inflation 🤦🏼♀️

We aren’t seeing it. These are really contentious times, but this is a major issue that is affecting individuals and families that shiny statistics don’t fix. In my state, rent prices and cost of living are one of the biggest concerns. Our state’s Democratic Party wants to enact laws that prevent landlords from increasing rent prices above a certain threshold and over-valuing their properties. I’m actually running for state office and one of the things I plan to do is repeal the tax on groceries in every county and prevent the state from ever doing so. I’m really trying to reach across the aisle to show people that we really want pretty much the same thing at the end of the day, and Dems really do have those values. Not sure what state you live in, but I recommend you look up your state’s parties websites and see what they’re fighting for in your state. Local politicians can be very responsive and receptive

The abortion ad is great. I think there is a lot to be said for simplicity. We can get too in the weeds talking about restrictions in certain states etc. Just having trump say what he did nationally and what the republicans plan to do nationally is powerful. I also liked the strong leadership photos. She looked like a president, that counts to some people.

I think you hit the nail on the head with the last point. Beyond its abortion messaging, the words at the end and nonverbals are essential if Ds want to define her image before Rs. I think the ad did that well. While ads focusing on personal stories are more effective for messaging on the abortion issue itself, right now ads should be about defining Harris’s public image.

I LOVED the ad where two women were driving at night and were pulled over by police. They were trying to cross the state border to get pregnancy health care. They were terrified. I was terrified when I watched it! It was extremely affective.
Most of what Donald does politically is for his base. He doesn’t play to center. He doesn’t do normal campaign strategy. I've lived in California South of LA & i have to be honest, i think the boarder issue is a case of American racism, that is used for political gain, rather than embracing cultural difference. What i found is Mexicans are willing to work & do jobs in California that no American wants to do. America should be embracing their neighbors to increase trade & resources, not fencing them out with racism & disrespect.
No one wants to cancel LEGAL immigration. It’s the tens of millions of ILLEGAL one people have a problem with and the trillions being spent on them when citizens are struggling right now. Also they are draining the system that our elderly need to survive. Legal immigrants go through a strict vetting process and have to wait in line. There’s a huge difference.

I agree that when they do an ad about reproductive care they should go to the personal, human, level of victims and health care professionals and be sure to emphasize the chaos from being a state level issue now. Without hammering home that your right to medical care (even your right to travel to another state for medical care) is now dependent on which state you live in, the GOP will just deflect they're not making a nationwide abortion ban, they say they're only putting the decision where it belongs as a "state's rights" issue.
