When I was young the West-Kruiskade was a ghetto and forbidden area. Looks like it hadn't changed a lot.

A bit late after this reaction got on youtube, but wanted to share this anyways. First thing I want to say is that I have worked in this area and I have met alot of awesome, warm, welcome, open people out of many different cultures. I have worked there full off passion and never felt as if I was in a life dangerous situation. That said, there is also poverty, big familys living in too small houses, houses that seem like they can use a maintainance, lots of traffic around etcetera. It does seem like a place where criminality exist, and I don't lie about it that I felt a relief every lateafternoon/early evening (in the winter especially) that I left that area behind me and was closer to home. There are many children growing up in that area. They deserve all chaches in the world they need to gro op. Therefor, I have so much respect for people doing their work (like the police in this video) to make it a more safe, peacefull and wealthy neighbourhood.

7:07 Actually, we didn't see him hide anything. It seems logical to assume that he did, but a lawyer could easily argue that all we saw was the suspect kneeling down for a second right at the location where the gun was found but the gun could have been there already. If there is no other concrete evidence linking this person to the gun or the actual shooting then this video footage won't hold up in court.

Uhm... fingerprints? Bullit identification? Gunpowder traces on his hands?

@@ronaldderooij1774 Yeah in theory, but they didn't get any such evidence or they wouldn't have had to let them go. Maybe he wasn't even the one who pulled the trigger and only got rid of the gun, or he was wearing gloves and long sleeves that he already got rid of or something. Like i said, if there's no OTHER evidence, the video footage is useless because it doesn't prove anything other than that the person was there.

@Robert That's not how it works in The Netherlands. Innocent until PROVEN guilty. Everybody in the courtroom can know what happened but if they can't PROVE it there is no case. A judge needs hard evidence, not assumptions or suspensions, hence they had to let him go.

I worked in Rotterdam from 1980 to 2010, and especially in the 80's, the West-Kruiskade was a no-go area for white people. They have streetcars in Rotterdam, and one of the routes went over the West-Kruiskade, and I never dared to take that route until well into the 90's. The funny thing is: There is also a Kruiskade, and that was, and still is, one of the most expensive shopping streets in Rotterdam, with haute-couture boutiques, expensive restaurants, and even the Rotterdam Hilton is there.

Hx , yes he was hiding the firearm , but nobody have seen him shooting with it ! Sadly.

whatabout those bullets ? you can test balistics add that suspicious running away with a gun and hiding it . i mean if some bullets were in that guy that was shot then you can compare them. Whatabout laws about carrying without license ? Just seems so wrong to dismiss charges and let it go ....

@@doposud bullets can be matched to the gun, true. But it doesn't say the gun was fired by the runner. The weapon could be easily transferred from the actual shooter to an accomplice (the runner) at the meeting by the car. If there are no fingerprints and no gunpowder residue to be found, all evidence will be merely circumstantial and not enough for conviction. Also, a conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm can only be given if the offender is either seen carrying a firearm (even that is not conclusive) or if there are fingerprints on the firearm that proofs that the person carried the weapon. The footage alone is not conclusive. He's seen when he lays something down there, but it's not clear whát was being laid down. The act of laying something down isn't enough for proving possession, even if a firearm is found on that location. And based on that the evidence will almost certain be questioned and contested by the defending attorney and eventually ruled insubstantial in court.

Well even I don’t understand how that wasn’t enough evidence, but he there’s the Dutch justice system for ya 🤣🤣. To be fair though, we don’t know what they investigated and how they carried out the investigation and what was found. Love these videos 😊
