In the last season Mary indicated that she didn’t fully trust Robyn because Robyn’s friend knew the catfish and was feeding Robyn and Kody information.

I’m glad that in later seasons, Mary makes it clear that she puts her child and their partner first. Before anyone else. I think she took things from this season and learned from it

Garrison was baptized mainstream LDS per an IG post he made in February. Since her parents are not polygamous anymore, I wonder if Mykelti and Tony will be sealed.

As far as home-births, I can imagine that the polygamy plays a part. Like Cody goes to the hospital with Merri, and she's like "here's my husband" and then Janelle goes in and is like "I'm having a baby, this is my husband" and then Christine goes in and says "I'm having a baby, this is my husband". They're going to give themselves up as polygamists.

Weirdly, they focus so hard on Meri being a VICTIM of catfishing and they completely ignore the elephant in the room which is “Meri, are you looking for a relationship outside your marriage?” Hello?! She cheated on Kody and no one is saying it. I don’t think they didn’t know, I think they didn’t want US to know. And I’m all for her moving on but do it openly.

Kody, in my opinion, is a horrible person. He loves to hear himself talk. He wants to control and dominate every single conversation, every situation, and he will debate everything because he fights to be right all the time. That's what I observe. I just watched an episode when they were making the boats, and he called Christine a crybaby. It's funny because Robyn is the one who whines and dry-cries all the time. That's how she manipulates. Kody's nards haven't dropped yet IMHO because he's so explosive, undependable, immature, selfish, childish, and a know-it-all. He should shut up and listen to his other wives instead of cutting them off so HE can blab his mouth. He has lots of narcissistic traits and it's very overtly obvious.

Progressive Christianity tends to be very pro-LGBTQIA, but yes, overall Christianity can be very homophobic. Based on my own reading of different Biblical scholarship, a lot of the verses quoted to support those homophobic views are mistranslated. I am really glad they chose to be supportive.

You both look luminous in this video. Whatever the lighting situation is, it’s totally working for you. You’re a beautiful couple. I was curious to hear you two talk about racism in the church. I always wondered if that could have contributed to the family being slower to accept Tony. Also, thank you for referring to Meri and Kody‘s child with proper pronouns, I really appreciate that you changed your language. It feels like you did the work to learn how to best respect trans and non-bianary people. Thank you!

I've always wondered if they were nervous about Tony due to the racism that exists in the AUB. While I don't think most of the Brown family is intentionally racist, I do think that it likely impacts their gut reactions to different kinds of people.

Something that you often hear in catfish stories is that parents blow the childrens college funds or other money that was meant for the children on the catfish. Or that it's the children who try to call out the catfish, and the victims choose the catfish over their children. So it is very common that a catfish situation disturbs the relationship between a parent and an adult child.

Kody is always going to placate Robyn’s anxiety points… AKA protecting HER KIDS. They moved because Robyn needed it… they were insane with Covid protocols because Robyn needed it.

I think the difference between Caleb and Tony is that they knew Caleb already because he was Kody’s Brother’s brother in law so he was related by marriage. No one knew Tony at all

I think it did to a degree, but I also think that being the only child and to the most strict mother probably played a bigger part, they definitely grew up with more pressure to be perfect than her siblings of similar age.

I did a ring ceremony for my family in the chapel (which was across from the smallish Temple) I put his ring on the wrong finger. I was mortified. Had to pull it off. Did you hear, the LDS church bought the Kirtland Temple?? My friend who is in the LDS church still, told me they are in the process of creating a new hymnal. I'm in Central OH, I would love to go see the Kirtland Temple. I'm confused, will there still be tours?

It wasnt expressed on the show, but Christine's daughter, Gwendolynn, is also gay and her mother is super supportive. Gwen got married in July. Meri is also very supportive of Leon and their partner.

Eskel Grant (Kingston group survivor) had to have meetings with upper church leadership when joining mainstream LDS bc they wanted to be sure he wasn't going to be attempting to live or preach polygamy

Season 11 takes place in 2016, so 12 years brings them back to 2004. Meri was only 33, Leon was 9, and Kody and Meri had only been married 14 years. Savannah was born to Janelle in 2004, but not sure what else was going on. And it was still 3 years before Meri's miscarriage.

I think that Leon coming out is an example of how moving to Vegas changed the lives of all the Browns. As a queer person who grew up in fundamentalist evangelicalism there is this compartmentalization and self loathing that comes with knowing you’re queer in a belief system that villainizes people for existing. This is especially true when the same book that is demonizing (which it actually doesn’t that was a change of translation by King James) queerness while victim blaming rape victims, encouraging CSA and praising genocide. I don’t think it would have been the same reaction if they would never have moved and I don’t think it would have gone the same off camera. I also think that Leon held so tightly to church and to polygamy because it was how to be safe in the community and faith even if it means never experiencing joy or being happy.

I also felt like there was a good chance to hide in a polygamous marriage. You wouldn’t be on the hook for much intimacy with your husband and left mostly alone (like their mother) if you landed in a big family.

In season 9 Mary briefly talked about how “Sam” was sharing things about Mormonism and Joseph Smith and basically had Mary turned around. It seemed like a big deal to me that has been forgotten. If Mary is being neglected and then is finding out about Mormon history and probably big time questioning her faith, to me it makes even more sense she would want to leave. She also doubled down on Mormonism after the catfishing came out. I would love for you guys to comment on this!!

It was very apparent he was faking it, he never did long drawn out interactions with children, for example he never sat down and built model cars, he never read chapter books to the daughters, he never spent any time with sny of the kids,

I feel 0 empathy for the adults in this situation. They knew how difficult it would be to fully care for that many children. Almost taking it as a challenge per "religion" to succeed but relationships were failing and still he added more wives and more children. The children were the victims in this situation due to the parents "striving for perfection" so they could prove that they could have their own planet. Just sad just sad !!!!

I actually do understand why the Brown kids have their own views and beliefs on who Cody favors/loves more. To the day my dad died in 2003, he favored my older sister (1st born) & my little brother (3rd born, the baby of the family, & the only boy). I was just there & periodic flippant comments/behavior towards me that were negative in view of being burdened with me. Also, as a non-denominational church members, in which wedding ceremony DOES include the rings, my husband & I did not do the rings during our wedding. We already lived together & our son was almost 3 1/2 months old when we got married. My husband & I were getting married after regular church service. We left home together to go to church. Unbeknown to us, plans were made to cut church early so the church family could all be there when we "tied the knot". Shortly before we left home, I told my husband "grab the rings. We better put them on so we don't forget to take them with us" (neither of us had pockets). We forgot to take them off for the ceremony. When Pastor Gary mentioned the rings, my husband & I looked at each other & I laughed, pointed @ my husband's hand & said "we put them on before we left home so we wouldn't forget them. We forgot to take them off." Pastor Gary & 1/2 the congregation laughed.

At home births can be a religious choice. The cult the Duggars were in really enforced home births and no pain reduction because painful childbirth is women's burden for Eve's sin. Amish also have a similar religious leaning for preferring home births that sometimes is upheld in some Mennonite groups. I don't know if the AUB has a teaching like that, but Amanda mentioned that the Kingstons preferred home births to protect polygamist families from being noticed. So a pseudo religious reason?

Do the FLDs people apply for birth certificates? If so, do you know if the father is listed on the birth certificates for all of his children from all of his wives? Or would he only sign for the children he has with the legal wife? Years ago women used to be able to list a man's name, but I believe that's changed in most states. Men have to sign for themselves if they aren't legally married to the mother.

As far as I know, FLDS don't like any form of government unless it's their own. I've heard stories from former FLDS who have had difficulties getting jobs and whatnot because they don't have a social security nor their birth certificate, but I'm sure Sam can clarify.

I think you guys are right that there is something more going on with Mary and a catfish but I also believe good evening this is a way Cody can get further away from Mary because you don’t wanna be with me or you don’t wanna be with any of them I think Robin was his choice and the reason why he stayed with Mary was because he wanted Mary to leave not for him to tell Mary so I think he’s playing both sides and I think he’s sticking with it also because he wants the money from the show Any only people he care about is the kids with Robert his two kids plus the step kids everybody else so it’s nice everybody’s gonna move on

Sam's comments that there are quotations in the bible that are anti-gay is actually not accurate. The only things mentioned in the bible are about man laying with men. NOTHING about lesbianism. Which always seemed like a loophole to me! LOL

Kody says later on that Mary had an affair. Ok she was catfished, but she didn't sleep with anyone. Plus it turns out the person that catfished Mary was a female So how could she have an affair.

Mary’s daughter said that Mary fell in love with the person online and that she was going to travel to meet him or her. She never did, but apparently she spent time online with this person every day to the point that she ignored her daughter. I think that is cheating.

Caleb is Kody ls brothers wife's nefew. They have known him for years. That's why they were so ok with the age gap and questionable relationship when she was underage.

Kody's brother, Curtis, was married to Caleb's sister not aunt. When Curtis tragically passed away in a motorcycle accident Caleb stepped in and really helped his sister a lot and helped take care of Kody and his shared nieces and nephews.

Never was a fan of Kody. But, I agree with him here. I was raised that homosexuality is wrong. But, it a sin...just like other sins. So, who are we to say one sin is worse than another. Let God be the judge.
