Hi ,please i'm stuck at the tracing part. When i'm using the pen tool, there is this asterisk symbol(**) that appears beneath it. So when i click on one point a line appears and keeps dragging out until i click on another point. It's kinda annoying cos in yours the line only appears when you click another spot and so on. Please how do i get rid of this?

(For people who are about to follow this tutorial) Since you are going to be repeating a lot of things a lot of times in this process... Here are some tips I found useful as well while following this tutorial: In Illustrator: 1. Try being accurate from the begining in the tracing, there's a snap to point option that puts the pen right in the anchor point before actually placing it. I did it this way and avoided the whole correcting the trace thing. You will have to trace each triangle anyway, so I didn't found it much more time consuming being accurate from the beginning. 2. When you think you finished your tracing completely, select ALL of them and change the Fill/Stroke colours, so that the stroke is blank and the fill is white (or whichever color you were using for the tracing) to assure you didn't miss any polygon, because sometimes you finished the triangles around it, so it looks like it is there, but it is actually conformed by three different sides of three different triangles. Remember they have to overlap, all 3 sides of every triangle with another (except, obviously, the ones at the edges of the while figure). In Photoshop: 1. You can click INSIDE the triangle you want to work on, and it will select the area conformed by its edges. You don't necessarily have to click on the edges and try to guess which of them belong to the triangle you want to work on. 2. You don't always need the cmnd+D command to deselect, you can just do: Direct select (A) the next triangle you want to work con, (right click) Make Selection..., and if the box "New selection" is checked, click OK. That will select the new triangle you want to work on, and deselect the previous one automatically. (Though cmnd+D is very useful in some other occasions). Some things I discovered while doing this amazing tutorial, thank you for uploading! And it is long, but worth it... Complex and long technique with great results.

Eder de León Some really good info, thank you for the comment
@MadMagezz
@MadMagezz 8 лет назад
+Eder de León 1. sometimes you can not click inside the triangle. I dont know why. But it just stops working and thats it. ----- also I can add some useful things: a) To make algoritm faster: choose the key shortcut for "make selection" (key shortcuts>panel menu>path). I made like Alt+ctrl+Q. b) You dont have to press "I" for choosing color. Just hold Alt, while you are on Gradient Tool. So after selection, press G, to change on gradient tool. Press+hold alt - choosing color 1. Press X changing front and background color. Press+hold alt choosing color 2. Next make gradient.

It is because you overlap it with multiple polygons.. :3

hello sir! I have encountered a problem while performing this, and i need your help. As i was pasting the path to the photoshop. My canvas got smaller, and copy of the path from illustrator too big, though, i had ensured my canvas and artboard size were equal in the beginning, which they still are. But still, as i paste, the canvas size becomes smaller in photoshop. Way too small, infact. Could you tell me how to resolve this?
@elisavetastoilova
@elisavetastoilova 5 лет назад
Yes, so true. Each triangle area needs to have an actual triangle, a closed object. Not just an empty triangle. This will cause more empty areas later in photoshop. And it's not as precise to fix this problem in Photoshop. So, yes i discovered this on my own too doing this project. And it's a good idea like you said to fill all the triangles with color to see what's simply an empty area/polygon/triangle. Good points!

I made a poster using this technique in the tutorial. Your instruction is very clear and on the point. I appreciate how you make quick key labels on the bottom for beginners to memorize. Glad that you also showed various ways to adjust the coloring and style in the last step. I was an art teacher myself and I admire your teaching style and your talent!

You are amazing! Thank you so much for taking the time to make this tutorial and sharing your knowledge. You managed to lay down the information clearly and thoroughly in a logical sequence. I felt like, there is a purpose in every sentence you verbalised. I was absorbed in every moment, even though I've known most of the commands and actions you did. I'm sure every step was equally important as the last or else you wouldn't have mentioned it. You are such an inspiration! I will try to deliver my lectures like the way you did to my students. I'm excited to see your next tutorial projects!

Your content is superb. Really straightforward and comprehensible to the viewer. I wish my design teachers could teach us the same way as you do - medium paced but steady and informative. Also, you show us all the major possible problems that we might face and the fixes for them, which is also a great plus in your teaching. Keep being awesome and impart us with useful information, sir. We really appreciate it. Liked.

Thank you for this, really helpful for beginners wanting to try something a little bit more complex than the usual tutorials. I saw some artwork like this on a TV programme's opening credits and now I know how they did it! You're very easy to understand and follow, a lot of video how-to's go way too fast and just assume you know all the tools, menus and short cuts. Will recommend your channel to my fellow design students :)
