Wow. You have just shown how to make a miniature 'clay' plant pot- all you need is to add a base. Voila! or add some handles for a soup mug - many ideas!
I liked this!! Loved how the beads had some tiny tiny pieces of colors on it! I'm not sure how I could use the bead with such a big opening though!I think the biggest opening in a bead I made must have been less than 5mm!!
Thanks so much for your comment Vasi....yes, they're certainly not for everyone that's for sure. I like to pop about 5 of them (all different colours) onto some sari string and wear just like that - a bit of a boho look. Glad you liked the video. Thanks again.
Hey Nana, thanks so much for your lovely message. You know tree texture is probably one of the easiest to make - you could always use some clay and plastic wrap to embed into the trunk of a tree and you have authentic texture. I guess it depends on the look you want to try and achieve as well. Have a great day xx
Hey Mary, I've used both liquid clay and pearlex varnish on these before. I know many seal their chalks with PYMII spray but I can't get it in Australia. Thanks honey. x
mine came from an old picture frame from the second hand shop, quite often they use perspex instead of glass in the cheapie ones. So glad you love the lace ideas - lots you can do with it.
Hi Debbie, I love your tutorials and really love the beads. I have chalk pastels but haven't used them yet, now want to make some using this technique. Does the chalk colour change at all with baking? ❤️😊
Hey Dawn, so glad you like the tutorials - that's great news. You know I've never found the chalks changing colours. I can't answer for all brands but the ones I've used don't so that's good news. I wouldn't assume there would be a huge amount of difference in the various brands but do a few tests if you're a little concerned. Thanks for your lovely comment.
Does the bead have to be coated after baking to protect the chalk? Or does it bake right in? I love the smaller bead, but I think varnish would take away from the look. Thanks for the videos! They're great! Keep them coming!
Hey Janice, like anything coated with a powder on the surface, it will need to be sealed, especially if it's going to be worn. I normally use kato liquid clay because I love the way the shine of the liquid clay brings out the colour of the chalks. You can also use a semi-matt sealer like pearlex varnish or a matt spray like PYMII.
Hi Debbie. :) Patricia Roberts-Thompson, in one of her videos, recommended your videos... most especially one where you show how to use s heat gun on your Kato clay. I've looked everywhere for it & can't find it. Is it still on youtube? If so... can you give the link for it? Thank you in advance! :)
Hi Linda, so sorry for the delay in getting back to you, have been out of action for a while. The liquid clay tutorial is a paid one on my website actually Linda. If you go to www.debbiecrothers.com and look under tutorials you'll find it. Have a great day. x
