Yes, this is not the best rose cane video so forgive me if the cane making is hard to follow. BUT because I had such fun making it, I will dedicate my entire video to rose cane because I truly love it. I already have something in mind so watch out. Meanwhile, enjoy this tutorial and keep crafting!

Again...LOVING the colors. You did a fabulous job on the rose cane. This is the easiest way to do one, at least for me. I bought small plastic atomizer bottles from the dollar store. I put alcohol in it and spray my clay before rolling. I have a couple of intricate rollers...Sometimes I spray the roller as well. You hit the nail on the head...people have to figure out what works best for them. Me? Personally- I can't be trusted with powders. My craft room would be loaded with baby powder or cornstarch 🤣. That you for this vid. Beautiful pendant!
@joannascorner4478
@joannascorner4478 Год назад
Thank you SO much Steph! I will spray the clay next time around and see how that works. For me powders are a no go because they are clogging the roller and leave white on clay. But I have seen others use it successfully so more power to them for figuring it out. I tell you, I loved making this rose cane more than I thought I would have. Such fun project. I'm so glad you found it easy. I need to keep things easy otherwise I loose interest. Hugs

@@joannascorner4478 Caveat... You do not need much. Too much and the gets smooshy and sticky. I usually try to spray my tool, but...I get impatient. Not to mention I feel like I'm BLIND as a bat and cannot always tell if I sprayed the tool or just me. Good luck if you do try it and again, thanks for the videos. You're one of my favorite clay artists. 👍

@joannascorner4478 I'm so sorry to keep posting...I forgot a cheat-Twice now! You know how you made a skinner blend then did the fan/accordian fold? I condition then stack a dark rectangle first. Then black, white or Trans in the middle (setting 3 or 4 to highlight) Lastly I place my light color on top. Press so everything sticks then start my reduction.

Yes that colour is beautiful and the roses are gorgeous. Love the pendants. I haven't been brave enough to try a cane yet, they look so difficult but you made it look easier. Would love a video on how you make them please. Thanks Joanna and have a beautiful weekend. x

Hi Joanna. You know I always love your videos & your sunny disposition. As far as using rollers, I think you should try working on glass or tile instead of the silicone mat. The clay will stick to the glass/tile, not to your roller. I think it would help you with other things too...mica shift, cutting out shapes, rolling out the clay, textures, Mokume Gane, etc. You can get the little plain white 6x6 tiles from HomeDepot or Lowes super cheap. Maybe you could pick up just to see if you like working on it. If you do, them you can get more & larger ones. Most often, I work on a 10 x 14 tile.
@joannascorner4478
@joannascorner4478 Год назад
Melanie, you are such genius! I will try it! I actually have a 6 by 6 tile in my arsenal. It is glossy though so it may not work with the camera. I might have to get one that is not glossy. Thank you so much for your advice. You are awesome! Hugs!
@pagesartwork
@pagesartwork Год назад
@@joannascorner4478 you are more than welcome! I have glossy & matte tiles. I've recently started a polymer clay YT channel, so I got matte tiles like you said because of the reflection in the camera. The glossy tiles work so much better, though. The clay sticks to the glossy ones a lot better...but the matte ones will work, just takes a bit more effort to get the clay to stick to them 😘

Your pendants turned out gorgeous!! I absolutely love the colors!!! I still need lots of practice with skinner blends and with mica shift. LOL. I always seem to cut too deep with the mica shift. LOL. I would love to see a video on making the rose cane since yours turned out so beautiful it would be fun to give that a try!! I hope you are having an amazing weekend my sweet friend!! Big hugs 🙂

Did you just say that YOU need practice with skinner blends?!?! OMG are you seeing what I am throwing at you all!?!? I am totally shameless but I seriously don't care because I have a ton of fun making my lousy skinner blends!! And the rose cane was a blast! hugs

@Joanna's Corner I definitely need practice with the skinner blends 😂 It seems like it takes me forever to get a mediocre blend and then mine get all weird shaped 😂 Your rose cane turned out great!!! It's all about the fun for sure!!! 😄

Hi Joanna, thanks for the simple rose cane tutorial. Was wondering if you have a patreon site? I think you'll be great and I will definitely sign up. You've inspired me, along with many others, I'm sure. 😊

@joannascorner4478 Год назад
You are so so sweet, Roz! Seriously, just so sweet. I do not have patreon site. You watching the videos means a world to me. I just love sharing my projects in hopes that others can pick up clay and experience the same wonder as I do! As you can see, my projects are not elaborate because I am not an artist, but I hope that everyone finds them fun and within reach with any skill lever. Thank you for you kind words and I shall see you in the next video!

Thank you so much for this lovely video. Beautiful pattern & colours. Your resin finish is superb, are you using UV resin?
@joannascorner4478
@joannascorner4478 Год назад
Thank you so much, Victoria! I just recently started using UV resin. Actually I think my last video was the first one with UV resin. I have been using two part resin till then, primarily because I do a lot of other resin projects so I always have two part resin on hand. But I do have to say that uv resin is super convenient.
