@@StarryxNight5 I agree , it's a tad weird. Don't get me wrong , it is a really fun nod that I love to see when they use greek mythology...but the sole reason Odysseus spent 10 years to get back was due to him shouting his actual name to Polyphemus after blinding him.

@@HelloThere-cz9tione of the voice lines that Poseidon can say is that he tricked Polyphemus into thinking they were related, Polyphemus also acknowledges this as a start of fight voice line. But it doesn’t seem to go deeper than that

There’s some different things from the myth like demeter and three brothers zeus aren’t siblings and persephone is half human so that the hades and persephone thing isn’t incest. But I don’t recall any line of Poseidon deny polyphemus is his son. In fact I remember there’s a line opposite.

Everything about his design screams scoundrel that got away with it by the skin of his teeth. Supergiant are fantastic devs but their art department is truly a master of the craft.
I love that, they gave him that schemer look, while still managing to make him look proud and heroic. And that makes sense, since things like deception and planning were considered very heroic traits in Greek culture.
My favorite part is after you defeat Polyphemus a couple of times, odysseus has a new dialogue where he really tries to restrain himself but can't help calling polyphemus the worst and saying that if he could, he would blind him again
In at least one telling, yes, but in at least one other, that’s impossible (since Polyphemus supposedly tells other cyclopes what had happened, and specifically uses the ‘Nobody’ name, thus making himself look the fool).
There's a reference to that in a later dialogue from Polyphemus. He knows Odysseus by his true name but refuses to use it, saying that he knows him by another name and Odysseus will always be a Nobody to him
Similar reason to why it hit for me as well. I used to have an audiobook of the Odyssey, and I listened to it over and over when I was a kid, has a special place in my heart.
@@swyte read it for Dutch... As for some reason it was one of the books that was allowed to be read. (As it could not be a translated version... dutch author and all that fun stuff.) But somehow Odyssey just fell through that crack... Maybe because of the source material. (And I am glad it did... Because Dutch literature is boring... If we are staning for Epic here, Poseidon killed 544. The other 14 were killed by Poly. Jorge said that Polites took two strikes to kill, then every strike after is another man falling. The 558 killed (so far) was in total.
I think its curious that those tattoos on his chest and the... goggle? look exactly like a Nazar. (those eyes with a dark blue sclera, a bright blue iris with a white ring around it and a tiny black pupil.)
That caught my eye too! No pun intended. My best guess is that it's supposed to be a visual connection to nemesis. Her keepsake is the evil eye and Nazar amulets are supposed to protect from that. Perhaps he's trying to protect from further retribution (he did kill a lot of people, including some of Ody's folks, and lose his eye over it) or he can more retribution for whats been done to him. It's definitely an interesting design choice!
