We started this project by grinding an old professional epoxy coating that we did about 12 years ago.
We ground off the top of the coating to prep it for polyurea primer.
Once the floor was clean, we applied the polyurea coating to the floor and broadcast chips.
We waited two hours and came back to the job and removed all of the excess chips and applied a polyaspartic top coat.

I know there were some issues with polyurea when they initially came out with it in the beginning but you're right over time they have really honed in the products. I only install polyurea and absolutely love it and work with an incredible supplier that was one of the original people behind the chemistry from the beginning

Hello , my floor is ready to go , DIY Homeowner , looked into the HD products and read some pretty reviews about no where near enough coverage in those kits , I have concrete with holes in it , (60yrs old ) no cracks , I am looking for recommendations of commercial grade products so I am for sure going to have ENOUGH 2 1/2 car garage , can you help ? names , products. I plan on med to heavy flake , then clear , not sure if you are allowed to give names etc..

Unfortunately, Thats the risk of not installing a low viscosity primer.

I’m not sure. We’ve only ever use it on properly prepared concrete.

The base coat never turns yellow since it’s completely covered by chips.

Can you use epoxy around pools? Is it UV resistant?

Some companies do… but I don’t think it’s a good idea. They are uv stable but I think they still turn a little amber if they are in full sun all day. I also don’t think it has enough traction for a pool.

I live in florida and when I had my lanai done, UV damage was a major concern of mine. They recommended I go with poly even though it's thousands more than epoxy. I've only had it for 2 years but I've been happy. No damage yet.

Use an EPDM squeegee, they dont melt from solvents like a window squeegee will.@@ErikLiberty

lol, for a SHOP floor you need a smooth surface, so clean ups are a breeze, you wont want oil or chems hiding in nooks and crannys or playing games to wipe up, a smooth STICKY surface is best .. my buddy has a mat to the entrance to him home that's like fly paper, and once the layer is no longer sticky pulling dirt off your shoes, he just tears off the top layer and there is another fresh layer ready to go, prolly 50 layers per mat, you can use systems like this for sterile hi dollar shops that house spendy cars, this way there is never any dirt getting into your vehicles or tracked around your shop floor, a good fresh air filtration does wonders, as in filter it BEFORE it enters the garage, ZERO dust to get in nooks and crannys of your expensive vehicles, not quite as far as say a shop that makes CPU's or RAM sticks, but dang close, no dirt or dust entering your shop

We’ve been through 20 manufacturers trying to find good material. It costs a few thousand dollars *each time* we try a new one...and that doesn’t include the risk of trying new products on a jobsite. The brand we use is very valuable.

I am the camera guy. It’s hard to film and install the floor at the same time. I don’t have time to deal with a gimbal.

@@TimDCVA well some for the effort 🤙but if you ever want to try a gimbal, the DJI Osmo 6 is pretty cool - can fold up into your pocket and will give you buttery smooth shots.
