One of the all-time top beautiful cars. That mini-skeg line offsets the rising shoulder and very 'fast' coupe roof line perfectly. The front grille belongs in an art museum.
I define that era by how many iridescent metallic vehicles there were on the road. Nothing like a morning full of chrome colors on each side, and then hints of late 1950's and earlier vehicles decorating with the more darker metallics and of course brighter summery palletes.
@@mckessa17 almost ever vehicle from every year from 1900-1970 was drop dead gorgeous. Its hard to name the American automobiles that weren't. Maybe the Model T, and even that was dolled up when it was new.
My Dad had this car in brown, with a black vinyl top, and a 428 high performance engine. It took time to learn to drive the car because the lightest pressure on the accelerator and you were burning rubber. It was heavy, wide, and low and hugged the road around turns at 85mph like a sports car. Gorgeous car. GM needs to go retro like Dodge did.
@@geoben1810 They'll start making everything slow and all about range soon. When everything is electric the 20k electric Hyundai will still be a slow Hyundai like it is today. You'll get a fast car for a heavy price with no aftermarket support and when it breaks it's done. Not even worth fixing. Built like a toy from McDonald's with 99% made in china parts.
@@MrJMS814 the car was heavy, wide and low. It could navigate around curvy, two lane roads like most cars of today cannot do. We routinely drove the car on southern Missouri 2 lane highways like 19 and 68 with no problem. Granted, it was no match for the Mustang GT I now drive, but it was damn impressive.
Love the long low slung look ,the stacked headlights, and those " boomerang" taillights as I've always called them .lol ,I was just a little tyke at the time ,but my dad had a black on black one remember it vividly.sweet looking Bonnie.
when i was a kid my Dad had one just like this. white also, but his was a 4 door, Black interior, 400 CID. 4Brl. this car drove so nice, and just floated down the road.
I had a 1969 Bonneville 2 door with the 428. you could get 7 people inside and still smoke both back tires. mine had the limited slip differential! nice car.
I know a guy who restored one of these. But not just any '67 -- 2+2, factory 4-speed, he said one of 310 ordered. Hard to believe a car that big was that quick!!
I was 11 years old in '67, I wanted one so bad. Imagine my frustration when I was told I was too young to get my driver's license and that Coke bottle return money might be enough to buy one! I mean WTF?! 🤤
I miss the old boats of the 60/70s, everyone had a full size car. Big today is what small use to be. Can't beat a big car ride. Sweet! Is that a UK plate. Car would barely fit on the roads there.
Hit record the year before: giddy up giddy up 4-0-9, she lookin’ fine my 4-0-9…and before start in’ this clip, remembered a bunch for ‘67 were bored Out to a..4 Twenty seven. Big muscle car!
Know where there's 1 of these with the 428 HO, 4-speed, 3:73 rears, HD suspension, same colors with the bench seat. Not sure how many were made but it couldn't have been many. Guy ordered it new.
i love full size american pontiac!canadians try to pass off their laurentian (bel air) and parisienne (impala) as pontiacs. canadian pontiacs were chevy clones, with chevy drivetrains, american pontiacs, had pontiac motors and a 4 speed or 3 speed auto (depending on year), instead of the horrible powerglide, (which the catalina had in 1970 and early 1971).
The rear tail lights look similar to the Edsels built less than a decade earlier. The big boats of the 60s may not be everyone’s cup of tea but they sure had great looks. And as others have said here, no comparison to the bland designs of today (for the most part).
It wouldn't, once you see just how low these automobiles were, you'd be scared to change anything to make it lower. I mean my god, if you've seen most of these automobiles next to a SUV today, 70 percent longer, but dropped down so far feeling. I almost wish they were taller, the width is definitely enough in fact wider than full size SUVs today, but with such a flat literally trim feel to it, it doesn't feel as imposing.
