I haven't had this issue so far with my 09.1 GT, but I just wanted to say this was an excellent video and I know exactly what to look for now should I experience this problem thanks to you!
Had this issue for a while, bought the LCA's to replace them myself. There is a bulletin about these now so you may be able to get them replaced for free or get reimbursed for them if you paid to have it done prior. They have extended the fix for a one time swap to 10years or 120k miles. They will install all 4 control arms and new bolts. Just had mine done at the dealer rather than replace them myself and the car is perfect again. Hopefully they last more than 60k miles this time.
I recently bought a g8 and it just started having a steering problem do you have more info on what you are talking about ...was there a recall on control arms if so how do I find out?
Yup, I sold my 09 G8 GT too with only 23K on the clock. Couldn't keep it out of the shop. LCA's twice and a grocery list of issues. Defiantly miss that car but I don't miss the problems :(
Had both side of mine replaced 3 times '08 G8, just had them replaced again a month ago, GM picked up 60% of the cost, I thought they should have picked up all of it since this has be a known and ongoing issue. Now a month after they were replaced, I am starting to get a clunking sound again. Last time went 3.5 years before the noise came back. Love the car, but you would think they would have been able to come up with something by now to correct the issue.
Same thing happened to me, same side too! At least mine had the decency to go out when the car was no longer under warranty. If I remember correctly I paid $200 at Les Schwab.
When u accelerate does it shake on the front right after 40 it stops but before its a loud clunk from the whole front If so that is what's wrong with mine is it safe to take a 700 mile trip like that?
did super pro lca on mine still not fixed. new tires and wheels and no luck... did a super pro steering rack bushing and no luck and i have new shocks and springs all the way around... gotta be tie rod ends or need a re balance because my damn wheel still shakes around 55-75
where you getting vibrations in the steering wheel ? Mine isn't as bad as yours but im getting a wicked vibration 50mph +++got new tires rebalanced and everything.
Oh my that's fucking horrific me and a couple of my friends have g8s with over 50k and control arms in perfect condition Im guessing over half of the g8s made had defective control arms the supplier should of recalled them
I have a full warranty on all drivetrain parts but I am super unimpressed with this issue that people seem to be having with there control arms. I'm going to check mine asap. Anybody know of good aftermarket control arms that I can trust?
