SharkCar19998 same here 😭 my mom used to have a 2006 Grand Prix GT supercharged... it was black. It was like a limited edition with the sport package body kit and the big dual exhaust.... I miss it so much... I wanted to cry so bad watching this.
Made me teer up a bit I am a new proud owner of an 06 GXP and my step brother is visually impaired (blind) he always talks about wanting to drive it while I hold the wheel but here in MN there are no flats from what I'm aware of I hope some day I can take him out and let him feel the freedom :/
Had a comp G until I blew the trans on it, these were some nice cars when they came out but with age they started becoming a troublesome of problems, head gaskets, dex coolant, elbows, weak trans, tq convertors ... list goes on
One of the greatest cars ever made. my 08 is still kicking, 218k miles and a cracked radiator, still going strong without issue. They don't make them like this anymore
GM didnt like how they did better than Chevy in every conceivable way. So they slowly kept giving em shit till they couldnt deal anymore. I hate GM so much, man
I remember when that commercial came out, I was a junior in high school. I went to the website and they were allowing people to download the song as a mp3. It's my ringtone and my alarm in the morning. Long live the Chief! Have owned 97 GTP 2dr, Current 2001 GT 2dr and 1967 Firebird 326ci (my father was the original owner).
Oh wow! that is so cool! i wish you could still see Pontiac's website. I remember looking at it right after they went out of buisness. They had a entry telling about the legacy of Pontiac and it was touching. I would also love to download this song!
I love this ad. It came out the year I graduated from highschool. I remember searching everywhere for the song, on the early-00's internet, which led me to the band Timonium, and for that, I'm eternally grateful. It's too bad i never found out who really did it, but if the forums were correct, then "Populations" by Timonium was the song's inspiration. They are very similar.
i dont really get where people say pontiac wasnt reliable...... a great many of them were powered by the legendary 3800..... thoese things are about the most reliable engine GM ever produced. i have a 1996 Bonneville with 162K and a 2000 grand prix GTP and it has 155K. neither cars are at the end of their life yet, that 96 bonneville is almost 20 years old and its still reliable. sure i had to do some re[airs but that car is 20 years old, almost. it aint a srping chicken...... sure pontiac had some lemons but that wasnt the Bonneville or grand prix
we just bought a cream puff. its a 1999 bonneville straight from north carolina NO SALT NO RUST 84K on the clock. its an SSE fully loaded every option GM ever put on those cars except the supercharger
andrew donohue I agree 100%. I have a 2004 Grand Prix GT with 162,500kms and I love it! This car is comfortable, reasonably fast/sporty, and cheap to own and maintain. On the highway, it is a quiet and comfortable cruiser. It has more than adequate acceleration to make sure you never get in trouble if you need to quickly change lanes. In the city, it handles stop and go traffic just as well as other more expensive cars. The interior is basic, but there's nothing wrong with that in this price range. I'm a tall and I have a decent amount of leg room and head room in the driver's seat. I purchased the car three years ago and have much pride of ownership! Who knows, maybe GM will bring the Grand Prix back to shine once again. :)
Emma Anderson My model doesn't have any controls on the steering wheel but I see your point. I plan on driving mine till it's "Driven to the ground" :(….I'll keep it in pristine condition until that day comes! (Trying not to get teary eyed) lol!!
As a proud owner of a trouble-free 08 Grand Prix. This is my FAVORITE. Thanx for uploading this great commercial. I LOVE my GP, and I wouldn't trade for anything. Bye Bye GM, but my GP will be here forever. And Pontiac will be living in my heart FOREVER!!!!
You said it the best way for the Brand no one else would have the passion to say. Pontiac did so much I could not see any other Car brand do for itself. It long lives a legacy of it's own. Pontiac forever.
I am a Grand Prix lover. I had five of them. My last one was a 2008. The last year of the GP. I got it at 8 pm on September 3, 2015 on my grandmother's birthday. Had it for seven years. Last miles on it before turning it in was 350,000. Missed that car. The 3800 engine was one of the best on the fleet.
Every pontiac has a heart and soul all its own. My friends dont understand why i love my car and they just cant understand theyve never driven such a machine. The muscle car soul lives on in the beating heart of every pontiac until the last one is destroyed may that day never come.
When you get into a Pontiac; the car comes alive. It speaks to you as you start it up. It screams excitement. The only ones to understand are the ones who've owned a Pontiac. Thanks Pontiac.....R.I.P.
It's generations knew every track in NASCAR where the cup series planted to the road a v6 feels if it's a v8 outclassed Camry and accord which is a result for when you fuel for the soul of the past and turn tsome heads with the best of new Pontiac Grand Prix the official vehicle of NASCAR.
I own a /07 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, Special Edition, supercharged engine. Very proud to drive this Black Beauty. It's a real treat to climb behind the wheel. Too bad they stopped making them
It’s a shame they GM got rid of Pontiac. I think if they had revived the popular name plates and had nice designs they would be a great competitor to Dodge.
Jesus I'm so happy to have been able to get my Grand Prix as my first car it's an 02 and I still have it to this day it's been the most reliable fun car I've ever driven
My mom had an 04 also.had it for years and years until she sold it to the guy down in anamosa😔i miss that car.was actually my favorite car and I still love.I wish we could say good bye to Pontiac.
@horatioj100 Saturn Aura is a branch of gm and coincidentally shared body chasis platform with the pontiac G6 as well. GM is not about copying but much more diverse for different types of drivers. The re-designed W body was first put to work on the Grand Prix GTP in 1997 to be shared with vehicles like Monte Carlo, Impala, Regal, Century, and Intrigue. With a common share of powertrain which is all for the better to have a comfortable, reliable, and most important to one's personal liking.
Yeah, I think GM is secretly thinking about it. . . That would be awesome Grand Am Sport Compact Sedan & Convertible G6 Midsize Luxury/Sport Sedan and Coupe Bonneville Fullsize Sedan and Wagon (G8) GTO Fullsize Coupe (G8 Coupe) T/A Midsize Coupe & Convertible GP Sport Sedan Torrent Sport CUV They should pump up the level of refinement in the interior too! Monsoon, Pioneer, Bose stereo's, IntelliLink, panoramic moonroof, HUD, Heated/Cooled seats, HiPer struts, cool rims, awesome colors, etc. !!
You have my vote and agreement. How you stated it is so true. How Pontiac made this is for you to relize whatever car you drive. You have the passion to stick with it. these days I see myself more blessed to get behind and ride and just drive. So Kudos to you for sure.
I had several GPs from 98-07 mostly GTs but my favorite one was the 05 GTP Supercharged Comp G i would like to get my hands on a 05-08 GXP one day hopefully in that burgundy color
just bought a lightly moded GTP. awesome performance, great handling, and good mileage for the performance of the car. my other performance car is a 1989 camaro RS with a 350 swap and it DOES NOT get good gas mileage. at $4 per gallon i need something cheap and was still good fun to drive. the GTP fits the bill.
The song was made specifically for the commercial by Chemistri Ad Agency. The commercial is officially called Guy/Girl. However, the LA-based music group Timonium uses it (or the other way round) in their song Populations from the album Until He Finds Us. The song is slowed down and lyrics are added.
i had and loved a 97 gtp, too bad the floor was rusted out. plan on buying another as some point, this time a rust free cream-puff. currently i'm driving a 96 Bonneville too bad its only an SE. still its a 3800 powered pontiac, life just wouldnt be the same without one. its the family car, it came from florida so its clean. it has a allot of life left. i want another GTP or SSEi
I am proud owner of 05 GP GTP Comp G! Not a lot changed on the 05 model other than different rear suspension components and a Comp G badge on the two front doors! The 3800 Supercharged is one of the best engines GM built! Despite the car being made in Canada (The hell with Canada)! Its nice to know the engine came out of Buick City in Flint, MI and my home state! Maybe if GM would build more cars with America and MI roots they wouldn't be where they are now! We can all thank Rodger Smith!
RIP pontiac division of general motors.1926-2010. pontiac was one of general motors best brands. love the grand prix GTP, GTX, and GXP. what great cars. love the bonneville SSEI and the firebird trans am WS6. what awesome performance cars. PS wish i could make my GTP drift like that and woman is blind
I second what you just said. Besides, how many FWD sedans even know how to powerslide? As many GP as i see out here i still smile when i see a GTP or GXP. Pontiac's legacy lives on!
And also i was really liking that pontiac was bringing over The G8 it was an amazing creation imported from the land of down under. I was thinking of it as finally there is a 4 sedan that is fun to drive( not saying that it is the only 1)
@ad356 I'm not sure which of my comments that's a reply to, but I wasn't belittling those models. I was talking about my own 2003 SE, with the mediocre 3.1L.
hey guys I own a 2006 pontiac grand prix base model, got it really cheap, so far im loving it, but i do want a little more power. Any suggestions on how to go about that without breaking the bank?
I am not a fan of Vibes and Torrents at all but I see them on the road all the time. They are very common cars. They clearly sold quite a few of them. That being said, every one is entitled to an opinion I suppose.
