Both Anya's parents getting angry on her behalf is the sweetest thing in this episode. It just show how commited they are not just for their mission and personal benefits, but also as a family and a guardian for Anya. Their true feelings won this time. Loid was ready to abandon his duty for Anya's sake. Also yea, Loid getting defensive for Yor is❤️
Anya has been adopted and abandoned by multiple families and that already breaks my heart, when that teacher asked which mother Anya prefers, that crossed the line
Anya didn’t say the part about the “mission” out loud near the end. Whenever you see the subtitles italicized, it means it’s indicating their inner thoughts. So Loid only heard her say that she wanted to go to school. And besides the family picture falling being perceiveable as an ill omen, it’s more ominous to Japanese speakers, because the word for “fall/fell” is the same word for “fail” (as in a test / interview). And though Housemaster Swann was very sexist, it’s indicative of their times. This is set in a fictional world similar to the beginning of our cold war, so it’s like 1960s - 1970s values. That’s why it’s suspicious for women in their late 20s to be still single and the interview required both parents to be present.
I've seen it mentioned that the picture remaining whole and unbroken when it falls can be seen as a good omen: they will remain unbroken, despite hardships.
Loid is actually nervous about the interview because the success of the mission not only depends of him but also of Anya and he like to do things alone. But I also like to think he cares about Anya´s future.
btw 14:18, the picture frame fell but did not break. in films, it's the broken picture frame that causes "bad omen". a lot of fans interpret this as whatever challenges they face as a family, they will not break apart.
I love how the teachers were lenient with Anya's speech cos she's a child. They prolly understood "Eating operas every weekend" as in the Forgers are wealthy enough to be eating expensive opera cakes regularly
During the punch part Twilight: I must remain calm and restrain myself. We are just a pretend family Loid: HOW DARE U TALK TO MY DAUGHTER AND MAKE HER CRY U- His Loid mindset nearly won(as he went for the punch) and his Twilight mindset stopped him in time(By punching the table)
Anya’s expressions just get better and better. She quickly turned into one of my all time favorite child characters. Just wait until smug Anya starts appearing. 😆 Another great reaction vid, thanks!
A picture falling off the wall is normally considered a bad omen, but it also usually breaks. I like the little touch that the picture doesn't break, and they can hang it right back up again. Basically, they've suffered a setback but will bounce right back. And I'm pretty sure Anya can read and maybe even influence animals' minds. The cow definitely responds to her touching its nose, and I think they use the sparkles that indicate when Anya uses her powers.
My guess at 7:45 why he's so nervous is because he doesn't have complete control. It depends on Anya and Yor to do good as well for this part of the mission to succeed.
7:54 I'd say Loid feels nervous because for the first time ever the outcome of his mission isn't something HE can do something about, it's something that relies heavily on others (aka Anya). So no matter how prepared he is, everything can be for naught if Anya 'fails' her part.
Loid reacting so very, very intensely towards that dude's shite talking fills me with pride as a father and as a man. The ones you love are always worth defending against anything, small or large.
The common theory with the picture falling is, the family will have to face troubles, but because the glass did not crack or brake means they will stay together.
The housemaster was so epic but the true MVP of this video is our Simpmaster Ange. Not gonna lie my simpmeter went above the scale for Yor and even more for their whole family. You can forge a family but you can't forge parents and childs love.
The sad thing is that Anya, a child, know that she just being used for a mission while the wife is just pretending to be a wife. It really warms my heart how both of them are protective of her anyway ❤️
Plus, because this is a spy series (and has a 1960s-1970s vibe), there's parallels to the Cold War - the spy conflict between the US and the Soviet Union that lasted from 1947 to 1991. To avoid being "suspicious", many spies got married and started families (or put on the facade that they got married) to avoid being the subject of suspicions and paranoia. This also happens in SpyxFamily, as seen in episode 2 (where several single women were briefly took in by the secret police after being labeled "suspicious").
Well this is the episode where everyone realises that they're a family and love each other. Girls fall heavily for Loid with this and I fell hard for Yor when that 'trifling, you call this trifling' line comes in with that hand clutching. this is an amazing episode and I love it!
Nah, Anya didnt feel the gazes, she heard it from Loid mind. Sometimes you miss it, but the inner monologe of the characters around Anya are writen asuming Anya will hear it.
I’m absolutely loving this show! It’s also perfect that I started it around the same time you guys did! So now after I watch an episode I come here to literally have the same thoughts as y’all Also I absolutely love you both! Keep up the content you guys are by far my favorite reacting channel on this platform❤️🔥❤️🔥 Ange: “yah I play call of duty” 😂💀 Always so relatable bro
sorry for the irrelevance, but I would really love to see you react to a favourite anime of mine; it's called Violet Evergarden and it's a mix of comedy, drama, slice of life and beautiful animation💜 I wish I could support you on Patreon but I still enjoy your videos a lot and watch them with joy. Keep up the good work!
So anya was able to use her power on the cow but it's kinda implied all she can tell is how it feels. It's definitely something that isn't that well explained when it happens, but the show is meant to be a family comedy so sometimes it feels like things are just cause.
Great vid again guys! I understand perfectly Carlie's hard shipping hahaha So sad about this copyright issues tho :/ hope you don't have more problems with that... Still loving to see you guys having fun with Spy x Family \o/
It's not uncommon for children to be very perceptive and know more than they should, that might be why they're not catching on, but it could also be becuse the idea of your wife being an assassin and not a special person who just happens to know martial arts, and the idea of a daughter being a telepath is so extreme that no one would ever think of it.
This is one of my favorite episodes too. Lol. Also pls consider adding "That Time I Got Reincaranated As A Slime" anime. It's got wholesomeness, comedy, cuteness, and action. :D You're gonna looooove it!
Well, Anya did read the cow's mind. This makes this kid really OP. Imagine in the future, Loid and Yor teach her their skills and knowledge? Anya is gonna be the best spy ever. Heck, she might as well be the Nick Fury of their world. XD
I love how awkwardly but still natural way he is coming into fatherhood and being a family man. Like he’s a whole trained protector which perfect for the job, has the emotional intelligence to manipulate well but still fumbles in ways that make him more believable. Them being mad on her behalf and almost snapping but keeping his composure brilliant.
Don't worry. More episodes to come will featured everything you need. Even each of their relationship to the side characters. Its just gonna be more wholesome and funny. You guys will have more episodes contending to be your favourites 😂😂
Loid is so well prepared he even carries around a fake (or maybe real) dead moskito in case he has to smash a table apart... on top of multiple changes of clothes in a suitcase that must have come from Marry Poppins, considering how much fits into it. ^^ The animals slowly backing away from Yor after she took down the lead bull is just so hilarious. ^^ I think the reason why Loid is so stressed out in the interview is because he usually works alone and everything is fully under his control and he plans ahead excessively, thus end up anticipating near enough everything that's happening. Now here he has to rely on other people... people who've profen themselves enigmatic and hard, if not outright impossible to predict, forcing him to react on the fly. Keep in mind that the Spy x Family world is in the rough equivalent of our 1960s. In the '60s there were plenty of places were women weren't even allowed to vote, much less considered equal. And from what we've seen so far, Ostania appears to be the more conservative of the two countries, with the more restrictive society in general, strict "classical" gender roles and all that. Yor being views with suspicion for being a still unmarried woman approaching 30 was already a rather big sign toward this attitude. Sure the portrait is symbolism, but usually when a picture falls as a bad omen in anmie, the frame and/or the glass cracks. Here it fell, but stayed entirely undamaged. When I first saw that I thought this meant that there would be a fake out tragedy or something like having to go through a hard time but everything working out in the end. The show is quite unclear on how Anya's powers work in detail, especially when it comes to animals. My head-canon for Anya's ability is that with Humans she can read their full thoughts including words and all, but with animals she can only perceive pictures and general emotions.
Please you guys have to react to Hunter x Hunter and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure! While it's totally fine to watch the new recent titles because they have beautiful animations, but there's a reason these 2 are iconic and fans keep coming back rewatching these. Hunter x Hunter while it has a lot of episodes has better phasing and provides good content each episode. Jojo also heavily inspires Dragon Ball and I know Ange loves Dragon Ball you guys will definitely love these 2 series
I'm always entertained so many reactors think the family is already in love with each other without knowing it, even when the show itself points out that is not really the case. At this point Twilight might care about Yor and Anya more than he realizes, but not love. Same with Yor.
Not saying that it's a good thing but the sexism that can we see sometimes during the series can be understandable being set somewhere around the 30s/40s, being strong at the time
I studied economics in grad school. He's just a dick ... it has nothing to do with supply vs. demand, cost vs. benefit, opportunity cost ... etc. A little background ... this story takes place in the 1960s during the height of the cold war. The fictitious countries in this story are basically East and West Germany. Good review ... I am enjoying seeing the story again through your eyes.
Reading minds IS READING MINDS, from any living beings, so yes, obviously she can read the cow's mind, and there are no words because cow can't speak, but she can feel the cow's emotion.
