Ungrateful people are always like this: they don't appreciate the their most loyal employees or partners do, even after they fire their employees or break up the relationship with their partners, the ungrateful believe they to owe something for them, which is not true. Is the same way with ungrateful children: they believe the parents owe them their money and properties, and when they are cut off the will, they act insanely in rage.
Not only *that* nerve, but the nerve to call him ungrateful, just because he *fairly* denied her a simple handout! She had no right to get mad! She had no right to even expect gratitude from him, regardless of how long he'd been working for her, and regardless of his replacement turning out to be a crook! She was indifferent to the fact that he and his wife had just had a baby, she gave the "boo hoo hoo" remark with sarcasm and called it a sob story! So she deserved no gratitude from him, and had no right to get mad just because he refused!
At least Raul's *second* boss was more decent than Roseanne. And Maria was a really good wife not to ditch Raul when he got fired by Roseanne *or* the second boss! Roseanne made a bad decision to fired him and picked the wrong guy. She deserves to regret it. Just because you are rich doesn’t mean you can treat people the way you like. The gardener work very hard and he wanted to do is work and help everyone to have better jobs and better benefits.
