Once he didn't sign the contract they cut ties with him. So I don’t understand why he's so IRATE I remembered in '96 waiting for his album I was misinformed he was either dead/jail. I was dazed when I saw an interview from him recently and he expounds on the aforementioned. He should put music out DIY style otherwise he'll be another disgruntled rapper that keeps complaining about so & so stymied him
Peace.. he’s not complaining. Just telling the truth. The brother is clear and precise with his build. When you get a chance, go cop the book, “ THE GRAIN”, by Shawn Berry. There is way more Staten Island history out there.
Bro u said u don't watch the series Then u know the show.... seems like a bitter older God that never got on. U gotta make a way. I had ur 1st album. No good. No disrespect but wasn't Wu worthy
Respectfully speaking,I honestly think wu tang need to give props to all them niggaz that’s under the w,they put in work for the w,gp-wu tang, shyheim,wu syndicate, killa army, killah priest,la the darkman, grave diggaz, sons of man, cappadonna,Brooklyn zoo crew, theordore unit,American cream team, deserves there on wu tang killa bees tour
It's a fact Gza said he wrote for masta killa and ODB.It's a fact those 9 members made Wu big and this dude maybe saying the truth but he delusional for thinking he is better than any of them.
Lies lol. Masta Killa said he writes his own shit. Provide one video of gza saying he wrote Masta Killas lyrics. Lol. Cap. ODB wrote return to the 36 chambers GZA name is not on every song.
GZA never said he wrote anything for Masta KIlla. He brought his first verses to GZA so he could help him with the flow and stuff but that's what you do when you work together. GZA did write a lot of stuff for ODB but they were cousins and they'd been hanging around for mad years before Wu got formed so they prolly knew their lyrics and ODB just took some of GZA's old verses.
He ain't lying me and my brother pop the brown hornet snapped and played football in Stapleton and still are close to this day. Love my brother even though he is a giants fan and I'm a cowboys fan.
Everybody from GP is repping Wu today right now except for Pop. Ask yourself why. And I love Pop but personally I think the dude is paranoid and schizophrenic or something and always thinks everyone is out to get him. And if he didn't do mad interviews nonstop for 20 + years talking shit about the Wu he would have been eating with them sooner or later. Dudes ain't got no patience and expect instant gratification
I believe him based on mathematics. If Wutang Productions takes 50% and then there are ten members of the group, they're busting down 50% which is 5% each.
Interesting interview.. He’s right a lot of people forget that Dirty, GZA, and Masta Killah are from BK. Also, the RZA, GZA, and Dirty are all cousins. RZA said he is from Brooklyn and SI. U-God mentioned living in BK when he was young and his Mom’s getting robbed by a young, wild Mike Tyson. Also I remember an interview from 2009 were Pop and the old GP The Grain(formerly known as GP-Wu) was going in on The Wu and saying Meth was the only one they fucked wit. And we know Shyhiem had past issues and beef with Raekwon.. But yeah, we forget sometimes that the Wu-Tang Clan, as we know them as the group the emerged in 92, is not 100% a Staten Island group like they often Advertised.. Not saying that’s a bad thing though. But the clan also had a heavy BK connection that was mainly through RZA and his cousins GZA and Dirty, and their childhood friend Masta Killah...
U God said, Staten Island has a influx of Brooklyn migrants.(So are Slick Rick and KRS ONE really Bronx Emcees🤔) It's NYC, nobody ever moved from the BX to L.I. in large numbers looking for a better opportunity and safer environment???🤷🏾♂️ Ghostface Killah is the only WTC emcee born and raised in Staten Island. The History of Wu Tang and Shaolin terms in Staten Island, has always been spoken on by RZA, he says he took it and conceptualized the Wu Tang Clan, from something that ALREADY EXISTED. These interviews make me wish, one of the Shaw Bros. kids to come out and call all of Staten Island biters for taking things they heard in their fathers movies, then arguing about who "created" Wu and Shaolin. I sip some Ballantine and Ol'E to that shit. Pop is a dope emcee, he always carried himself as a stand up dude. He deserves his props in hiphop and the Stat. But you bitter feelings, justified or not, can cloud even a visionaries sight. I love interviews that diss the Wu Tang Clan, purposefully or not, because they always have write Wu Tang or RZA, in the Title or super-imposed on the screens hot, I guess the only bad news really is no news. RZA Hulu Series gonna give so many people the opportunity to chime in on something most the world already agreed upon. So what happens when the legend of The Wu Tang Clan gets turned into 11 lucky ass Dirtbombs...that's better for the Stat, for Hip Hop, for NYC... Funk Flex said Run Dmc were just some niggaz biting off Brooklyn..."Why Build when we can destroy"
How are people going to forget that a lot are from Brooklyn and they say it all the time in interviews to this day explaining their background. They even got songs in "Brooklyn Zoo" " Brooklyn Babies " Method Man is originally from Long Island Deck is from the Bronx even Cappadonna was born in Brooklyn. They all explain when you are a struggling family you move around a lot.But we talking 4th 5th grade or younger then bouncing to Shaolin which ultimately is the foundation. 0:06 ...also Mastakilla not a childhood friend he met GZA in the early 90's.
Became a big fan after 'Black on Black Crime' always wondered why Pop wasn't on any Wu Album. Now I know. Just listening to this interview reminds me that you can't romanticize history. There's ALWAYS a dark side
The Wu made that known. RZA offered alotta cats, Pop is one of the guys who said no and he didnt understand the business. when you got 10 dudes splitting 50% publishing, how much you expect to get? he washed lol
I copped Don’t Go Against The Grain & Underground Emperor when they dropped! I always wanted to hear a Wu/GP collab. Staten Island might be worse than Queens Bridge as far as unification in Hip Hop!
Pop did a great job breaking everything down. I’m sure if they all can look back at what could have been if they “ALL” were united from Staten Island they would do things differently. They all were young competing with each other, it’s just unfortunate that “EVERY” hood goes through this but on a smaller scale.
I love pop da brown hornet and gp wu against the grain was dope. Pop has been bitter for over 20 years against Rza let it go man. As a man let it go and be happy for them and make your own vision. Shitting on rza isn't cool. If he did you wrong then you make your own moves.
With all respect but You will never understand because your not from Staten Island, I'm born and raised from Staten Island and I got love for the wu but it's alot of talent on the island but it's overshadowed by the Wu in general
