They both gave it everything & gave their distinct personalities to it, and both sang it perfectly. Back then I wanted Gareth to win - but heard Will’s version and it just seemed more personal and less cookie-cutter - so I gave my small 1 vote to him instead. I think he was the one who had more chance of being a distinct pop star in his own right - which he did. Gareth did an amazing job but was always going to be more template as a pop star - but I’m so glad he made it in theatre in his own right. They were, and still are, the most amazing singers who represented the only Pop Idol series we all still remember. And now 20 years later I’m old and still can’t believe I’m commenting on this ;)
I had it equal, and gave the result to Will ~ thought he would cope better with the massive demands that this business makes on a person. But it was so close.
The first time my 12 year old self learnt about devastation 🤦♀️ ... anyone and everyone I knew , knew how much I idolised Gareth Gates at that time . My Aunty was in the pub the night of the final and they were showing it on the pub tv when Gareth Gates lost she rang me and I was crying down the phone to her 😭 ... an embarrassing memory now Iam in my 30s lol
@@paulapoulson576really, ah he didn't deserve to win and when you listen back to this now, he's off key all over the place but I get that girls had a crush on him that was bigger than his actual talent
I need help, what was the name of the lad who sang to love somebody in the eliminator stages and dedidcated it to his mum then started crying at the end? He had been in prison i believe
simons always laughing to the bank made by the people on his show and imust say so is will so far after 10 years and now hes got a LEADING role in caberet which is doing ok bt ive been told hes only being in it 4 about months then hes taking a rest thankyou 4 posting 2 me mythrasx
THIS MIGHT BE MY PARANOID ASS talking and it's been nearly 20 years but I maintain to this day that Will's version of Evergreen was way more hyped up than Gareth's. So the clips made Gareth seem duller and the general public less likely to vote for.
How could it be more ‘hyped’ up? They sang live.. They both gave it everything & gave their distinct personalities to it, and both sang it perfectly. Back then I wanted Gareth to win - but heard Will’s version and it just seemed more personal and less cookie-cutter - so I gave my small 1 vote to him instead. why was gareth all doled up in a white suit i beleive he thought he had it in the bag already but the country spoke for will i m glad to say and simon cowels face looked like thunder oh deary me how sad for him haha x
Gareth/......legendary voice????????? There were quite a few million souls who weren't touched by it I'll have you know and still aren't. His voice is average, grant you better than a total non singer but that's about it.
And this is why he's still relevant and Gareth's not. Will's voice is like butter. I still can't believe people think Gareth had a better voice than Will. Was and still is Night vs Day
