Why I loved it so much. I listen to music to feel happy. Neck Deep's album captured that perfectly. I'm not a depressed person by any stretch so, as a big fan of pop punk which has a large number of songs I can't relate with, this was a breath of fresh air. Besides the fact (of course) that no song makes me want to skate more than citizens of earth.

“It’s not about forcing the happiness; it’s about not letting the sadness win.” I actually needed to hear that, right now in this moment, as a young adult. I personally believe that music can be relevant at different stages - going in and out of importance at different phases of life. A song that is more than a decade old can hit such a deep chord in one’s soul while a more “mature” song might make one feel “meh.” That’s just my opinion, though.

God I'm so glad PUP was on here. I've been a very long time listener of PUP and to see morbid stuff on this list makes me genuinely happy. The story of how PUP really got their start is super sick and literally the core of what makes a great fucking band. Not only a pop punk band, but an all around amazing rock band. They pull off like 3 genres an album flawlessly yet always keep true to themselves and the DIY punky vibes. Literally one of the best bands of our time

M8... This video really got me feeling that bittersweet nostalgic feeling. Like... we're all old(er) now. The age where in 2010-2015ish a lot of us were probably going through high school and thought we'd start to have shit figured out. Maybe we had friends we swore we'd never lose while blasting these songs in the car that are slipping away or already have. People are in or beyond college, or in jobs working the grind. Its crazy how different life is and how much all these bands and more have impacted us. Its scary. I miss the first half of the decade yet i'm excited to see what tomorrow holds. It's just a weird feeling. Thanks for the video and sorry to ramble... Coming up with just one record for each year is too hard so here are some of my favorites: ADTR - What Separates You From Me and Common Courtesy, Neighborhoods & Dogs Eating Dogs from Blink before Tom left again, TSSF's EP While You Were Sleeping (feel like this one needs more love), Colourmeinkindness by Basement, No Closer To Heaven by The Wonder Years, Youth by Citizen, Wildlife by La Dispute... I adore every song by each of these artists and so many more whether or not their messages line up with my life anymore I still value their impact so much. Lastly a huge shoutout to every track ever released by Balance & Composure, especially their album Separation. That record got me through some hard times and I still listen to it religiously. Went to their final show in May this year and it really hit hard. These guys deserved so much more so go check em out if you've never heard of them... sorry for the long post haha.

God this makes me miss my pop punk years, I didn’t get into pop punk until I was 21 after a failed relationship. It was State Champs that did it for me, The Finer Things came out at the same time that the relationship happened and it also helped that SC is from my home town. That album hit hard at the time, then I heard Wishful Thinking from Neck Deep and I was hooked on Pop Punk for the next 2 or 3 years. It was a truly beautiful time, including being that I’m at a Black Metal guy at heart. Nowadays, Im 27 and back to mainly jamming Black Metal daily but Pop Punk will always have a special place in my heart and while those times were hard on me this music makes me long for those times. It was just an all around wild time and I absolutely miss it.

First off, thank you for your videos. Your "Why Pop Punk Sucks" video was great, emotional and made me proud of my musical preferences. Your list was top notch and even though I'm not a much into bands like Modern Baseball, I was very pleased to see that Pup's Morbid Stuff made it into your list. I feel Trophy Eyes' "Everything Goes Away" ep should have made the list but it definitely makes mine. Gnarwolves are another great band that should be checked out. Their CRU ep is epic and the single "smoking kills" is amazing to say the least. Last but not least : the Montreal band PREVENGE (rip) and their lp " Eye Contact" is a work of art. It's everything you'd want from a band. It's a free download on bandcamp, be sure to check it out! Shout out to Belmont, Knuckle Puck and Cold Front. These bands kill it and are on constant repeat. Keep up the amazing content and I'll keep watching!!

Minority 905 is a band I've listened to for the past year or so and can't get enough. Great balance of pop and punk, maybe leaning more towards Pop but a 00's punks feel

I went to see The Dangerous Summer live in atlanta and microwave came on right before them. First time I’d ever heard them and they sound EXACTLY like the do on the album live, crowd was fucking nuts since it was a hometown show. A solid half the crowd left after they finished and didn’t even stick around to see The Dangerous Summer, who were kinda trash that night.

Copacetic for me, is easely the one thats stands out from everything. Lots of smashing album the last ten years, but copacetic is so complete. The paceing of the album is perfect, lyrics work is so well done, the whole album through, and the whole album as a peace, that revolves around the album title, is really well done. Plus Untitled as the finish, to sum up the whole album and just drift out is a masterpiece to me. Could be having an our long monologue about the composition of that album. Smash a lot of TSSF, as well. Just so good every time. State Champs Around the world and Back", and of course Neck Deep. "Life is not out to get you", is some of the very best, but to me, what really drags it home is"Rain in July/History of bad decisions". "What did you expect", is such a simpel but nothing more than perfect lyric work, that could not be done better.

Literally the only reason I quit listening to pop punk was I realized it activated an emotional side of me which not only was incredibly unattractive for my self image as a man but it actually DID make me more "emotionalish" about stuff. EDIT: I realize none of this makes sense lmao.

I got into bands like sum 41, new found glory, simple plan, good charlotte, yellowcard, fall out boy, blink 182, and green day in the early 2000's. I also got into bands like man overboard, the wonder years, the story so far, state champs, major league, i call fives, within the punches, a loss of words, we are the in crowd, real friends, knuckle puck, tonight alive, neck deep, as it is, broadside, seway, roam, boys of fall, living with lions, handguns, yours truly, bearing, with confidence, sleep on it, and stand atlantic.

“no closer to heaven” should of been on this list. i watched an acoustic session of “cigarettes and saints” and cried bc the crowd was singing over dan and he was getting so emotional and started crying. when everyone screened “you can’t have my friends. you can’t have my brothers” it was like everyone in the room was screaming into the world and it was fuckin beautiful. no live version of. song has ever made me feel that way

That’s the thing about pop punk, I never look at these records as pop punk records I just look at them as good pieces of music. But it’s one of those genres that has so much stale boring music that you really have to pick out the ones who truly stand out. It became so watered down from 2010 forward with too many bands creating the same exact style of music but in a way that was good for the genre because it meant that if you were one of the good ones you were a REALLY good one at that.
