Liar! You didn't watch since then, nobody did! Why? Cause he retired & then came back! Meaning you stopped, until his return. Meaning you had to restart your streak!
@@Pupeye-oe3ec lame is selling out your brand to a bunch of slobs like screenwave media and ditching the people that made you who you are ie bootsy, guitar guy, and mike
I forgot all about that "He lives in a garbage can" thing. 😮 Also cool you brought up the Popeye/Donkey Kong connection. I was prepared to write about it!
Hey Chris, I i was having a horrible day today, my car broke down, and my back is killing me from the nature of my job. But this video put a smile on my face. Thank you
I'm so glad you reviewed the Popeye game, Chris. I have fond memories of it as well. I remember renting it from the local Blockbuster, and instantly, I fell in love. We couldn't find it in stores, so that Blockbuster was the only way to get it. Then, one day, the store was selling off all their NES games, and they sold us Popeye for $10. I still have that game, and I will keep it for the rest of my life, even if I didn't have an NES. It holds a special place in my heart. Plus, I LOVE anything Popeye, and I am digging that figure collection you've got there.
@@Pupeye-oe3ec Oh, and why is that? Are you another Irate Gamer hater like all these other trolls who never bothered to grow up and still think it's 2008?
Popeye being one of my absolute favorite franchises in the history of media, I'm glad to know that you picked up the torch on this one. I actually need to do a review on other Popeye games that came out in Europe LOL great video as always!
chris you instill the same exact energy into your videos as you did when you started. you're literally the same. it's incredible. time didn't affect that whatsoever clearly.
That's really weird I grew up elsewhere in the world and I am the same generation as Chris and I remember in my childhood we did also make a mock version of Popeye's theme song
0:38 the intro brings me back to watching the mario 2 episode and some of season 5 (when it was called season 4 back then). truly a masterpiece of an intro music
Great episode! When I was kid, I rented this game from local Video Store when they they still had NES games. I don't think I've ever made it past the first level since I was a kid and not quite the gamer I am. I did play a sort of bootleg of the game on a little arcade device that has numerous knockoff games, and admittedly I did get better. Also great closing credits with the "Reading Rainbow" theme. 🌈
Great to see so much new content from you! I loved the arcade version of this, though I never owned the NES port. I flipped between this, Q-Bert, Mario Bros, and Moon Patrol (until we started getting games like Pit Fighter and TMNT, of course). Great vid, love the RR theme at the end.
Loved it 😀 thanks Chris for still bringing these to RU-vid. Have you ever thought of reviewing the star wars games ? Would love to see your take on them
There were many versions of Popeye. There is an Atari 2600 version, an Intellivision version, Colecovision, Atari 5200, Commodore 64, Commodore Vic 20, and Atari 800 versions WELL before the NES version. Didn't try any of those?
1:21- Oh, Chris, I too learned various vulgar versions of the Popeye theme as a kid. Ya know, turned on the gas and blew off my ass, I eat the flies and spit out their eyes, etc.
@@irategamerwe can tell you still enjoy doing the IG. And I don't think most people realize how much effort goes into one of your videos. It's not just something you put together in 5 minutes and move on to the next cash grab video. I truly appreciate that Chris 👊 Keep em coming!
Popeye video game was one of the few video games. I actually played growing up hell I own the NES in collection I have a lot of nostalgia towards this game
I’m Popeye the sailor man, i’m Popeye the sailor man. I’m strong to the finish because I eat my spinach popeye the sailor man. So in other words we could thank Donkey Kong for getting Popeye the sailor for the Nintendo, You know Chris is almost sounds like what happened with contra force when you explained they went under a different name called Arc hound and the same thing could be said about super Mario brothers 2 which was a port from another game call Doki Doki panic.
@@irategamer I love the new content and I'm so glad you are continuing the series. I loved your videos in 2008, and I still can obtain the hilarious entertainment as an adult! Keep it up Chris! 💯 Your videos truly show off heart and soul and dedication to the channel and content for the NES, Nintendo appreciates it im sure! I know we do! Maybe some of these titles you review will make it to the NES online collection 😉
When you said sequel, I was thinking the (possibly) obscure Game Boy cartridge, which acts like it was trying to tread the same path as that plumber guy by turning into a side scrolling platformer. Does make sense that he would get a Famicom sequel, as I understand his star burned a little brighter over there in Japan. As well as over in America... on Aisle 12. (Branded cans of spinach. Figures.)
I like Popeye for NES. It's no masterpiece but it's pretty fun to play! I thank my late grandparents for getting me into the cartoons along with Bugs Bunny. They had a VHS copy of 4 Popeye shorts. Those were the days... Speaking of Bugs Bunny, Irate should review Birthday Blowout and Crazy Castle on NES. I believe he won't like Birthday Blowout.
Age....finally, after a long hard catch, has finally caught up with our guy here. Watch him in 2008 to even 2021 and he looks the same! But i noticed a tinge of grey beard??! Noooo.... male pattern baldness is already erasing the nerd! Now its coming for my irate gamer. 😢
@@irategamerLove you man! Always watching your videos at work, Die Hard and Robocop are easily my favorites. That 7-Up game also always cracks me up 😂 We need more Ronnie or the other characters, also unrelated but I was very impressed by how you used sprites as characters like Mario, the 7-up character, Goro, etc. That seems like a hassle hahah
To The IRATE Gamer: Be aware that there was also Popeye the Sailor Man video game that was on the Atari 2600 back in 1983 as well which you can watch the commercial about it in the link below: Popeye Atari 2600 commercial 1983 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZaXE4w1GXo0.html
