I feel like the theme for this album is that she's like a distilled version of the pop music women who are popular right now....Sia, Cabello, Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande...like someone created the ultimate pop star girl amalgamation with a computer program and it becomes self aware. I think it's pretty clever.

Glad you liked it too, and I totally agree with the score! "Chic Chick" was the first time I'd seriously laughed out loud (in a good way) at a song in a long time. That and the metal and rock influences near the end were hilarious but also arranged pretty well, and the lyrics were way funnier and tongue-in-cheek, so that was a major plus!

Love Poppy she gives us the social commentary that Manson used to. Took my 14 yr old son to the Halloween show at the Wiltern. Same place I took my 22 yr old son to see Manson in 2008. Best music venue in L.A. except they need new seats. Both these shows exceeded expectations. I hope Poppy's fan base grows as a result of this new album which I love.

Everytime you give an album a 7-8 the album is perfectly flawed, and usually ends up being my favorite music. anytime you give an album a 7 or 8, its an automatic listen.

Mr. Fantano, although I was expecting an album review, your analysis on gender and what it means to be non-binary were quite interesting. Your consistent relation that you drew back to the question at hand “Am I a girl?” was very well done as well. I’m feeling a light to decent 8 on this video.

I'm happy Melon is finally accepting his female-self. But he also crossed the line when he said that he is the only Poppy and showed himself mailing a bomb to real Poppy.

I gave this album a 9.5/10 as it really is, after repeated listening is just superb!

Loved this album actually, maybe an 8 for me.... not sure. Last two tracks were my fav. Unless its too ridiculous I'd love a review on the album Euringer (self titled)

honestly Am I A Girl is one of the few albums that i actually really love all the songs of and cant stop listening to it

easily one of the best pop records this year!! girls in bikinis is giving me some major janelle monae vibes,it's so tongue-in-cheek and also the boys in bikinis line - golden!!! obvi play destroy and x are cool af production and lyric-wise, and as far as hard feelings goes i think it kind of has these undertones of a self-aware sex-robot AI and she's asking all these questions about why was she made, has she been made in the likes of a previous ex-lover and questioning if shes a "man or machine", time is up - amazing storytelling tbh, and then fashion after all is great imo, a bit basic, yes, but a banger nevertheless especially the lyrics in the 2nd verse are stellar imo!! Aristocrat also a stellar song - poor kids where ya at!?!? lol so yeah, overall i enjoyed it quite a bit and i highly recommend it!! ALSO, anyone else excited about her new record? she said she's started working on it and it's a lot darker than am i girl, play destroy and X being indicative of the new direction she's going with with her forthcoming album so ... very exciting!!

Never checked out her music prior to this, only knew her through some videos of hers. Thanks for putting this on my radar! This album was quite the ride and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would. Some real great songs during the second half of the album. (First half was pretty good for sure) I like how the album transformed as it went on, started off one place, ended up in another by the end, very cool stuff. I'll be keeping an ear on her future releases that's for sure.

The heavier tracks of this LP were well worth my time, thanks brah, subbed.

11/10 My review. Poppy is an Angel sent from Jesus!

X hit my top 2 spot for singles of the year. Levitate by TØP being the only track to top it. The album as a whole is far from my favorite of the year but the last leg contains the best part of the record. However I do find a very similar formula to play destroy and X. They're both fantastic songs but it's pretty easy to tell that they both try to juggle a light and then heavy sound in a very similar structure and fashion. Also lets not forget that Janelle Monae is queen of robot concept records, making about 3 of them. Sci fi was known to flop before Monae pulled up on the scene. Before her, we had posers like Styx and billy idol. I can't help but remember things like the archandroid exist when listening to poppy lyrically.

Hey Antwon you should check out the new Black Tongue record Nadir. Their debut was just an album-long breakdown but there’s a lot of doom influence on this one, it’s like if Behemoth made a deathcore record.
