I attended that Seattle Thunderbirds game with the Metropolitan throwbacks. The Stanley Cup was in the building, and the lineup for people to take their pictures with the Cup lasted between an hour before he game and an hour after the game. Many fans (including me) missed most of the game because of their wait in line.
Oh man, it's ridiculous how popular the London Knights are. They make more revenue than SEVEN NHL TEAMS. I live in the area and have watched many amazing prospects play from the front row of Bud Gardens. I'll never forget one game where I saw Max Domi net a Gordie Howe Hat Trick and a young Mitch Marner score 1 from the front row. You forgot to mention their Memorial Cup in 2004, where Corey Perry took the Cup.
You can go back and check out the Cleveland Barons of the AHL in the late 1950’s-early 1960’s. They were apparently so good at that time there was a movement started to get them to join the NHL. Great video series here. Really enjoy it. Just love those Seattle Metropolitans jerseys! Interesting to see if the expansion Kraken will use them.
The Alaska Aces were a powerhouse in the ECHL with three Kelly Cup wins (tied for most in league history) yet Alaska suffered a recession, ticket sales plummeted as well did the teams performance. Sadly the franchise moved to Maine back in what, 2015. You still see Alaskans represent the teams merch tho
Great to see another video, much love. I know they're not an amazing team but the Belfast Giants should get a shout out. By far the most well know team in the UK and tend to dominate the league here. PS. It's good to see your face, makes the videos feel more personal. Keep up the great work!
For everyone that wants to know why the Canucks stopped wearing the Millionaires/Maroons (they were called the Maroons at one point, look it up if you don’t believe me) jerseys It’s because it’s bad luck 2013: 5-2 loss against Detroit even tho Burrows scored 6 SECONDS INTO THE GAME 2014: worn in the Heritage classic game they lost Daniel Sedin because he got injured, and they lost 4-2 to the sens 2015: it would be a 100 Years ago when the Millionaires won the cup and they scored 1 goal to lose 4-1 to Colorado (Luca from Bardown you’re welcome)
Sorry i am late to the party. Glad to see you're back . You could do vol 2 of this vid with history of minor league ,Hershey (doll toss) and fort wayne etc.. Great vid . An easy idea is the top undrafted goalies ,Belfour , Joseph etc... You could easily find 5 top notch goalies . I wish you luck with school and covid .
Considering the population of the USSR in the 70's and 80's was around 250 million people, the Central Red Army team was probably the most popular hockey team to exist ever. It was a point of national pride for many Russians, and probably safe to say that at least 1 in 5 Russian people were a fan of the team. Compare that to the population of Canada at the time of around 25 million, and that means there were probably twice as many fans of the Central Red Army team than the entire Canadian population in total.
How about popular players on objectively bad teams? The player can be good, bad, mediocre, whatever but was popular/well liked despite being on a bad team.
@@IntheSlot IMO Team Russia and Team USSR are two seperate entities that do share their lineage but are operated differently. One is cream of the crop pro players and other's a military machine to create the most dominant hockey team of all time.
