Enjoyed the wide-ranging conversation, but the recording level was way to low. I had the sound cranked up as high as I could get it, and still missed bits and pieces because the recording volume was too low. Had to rewind and read the captions -- thank goodness for captions. Then I discovered transcript, and that helped as well -- thank goodness for transcripts. ;)
Regarding the Electoral College: The ideal concept was corrupted within a few years by partisan politics -- one can honestly ask did it ever really work? Has there ever ever been a study made of the electors themselves in any of the presidential elections? While I agree with the necessity of keeping the electoral college rather than going with a popular vote, is there any way of getting back to the original concept? That question asked, it begs the question of what is the conceptual difference between the Electoral College and the elitist CFR, Trilateral Commission, WEC?
