He was so attentive, just staring at Dmitry like a little kid showing respect for his elders. I love this channel, and will no doubt get backlash from this, but I felt quite sorry for this young boy, he looked so pleased that he was being treated so nicely. So many sent to the slaughter based on a pack of lies. Excellent interview Dmitry!

No backlash from me. He said he wanted to call home so that his mother didn’t have to worry, that was the most important thing to him, not “what are you doing to get me exchanged?” He’s clearly a boy who has been raised with love and hopefully now he can return home without hatred for Ukrainians blackening his heart.

Underneath Dmitry' gruff exterior beats a big Ukrainian heart. Great interview with just the right balance of candor. Showing both empathy and a serious side with a soldier little more than a boy. Meat for Putins grinder. "Come join the army" the posters cry out We'll teach you to shoot, to kill and to fight The pleasures are many, the dangers are few You'll have a good pension when your service is through

To me this was one of the most powerful interviews. I entered the military at 17 years. This soldier was young, but he is NOT an innocent child to me, either. THE 2 BEST PARTS: -After the soldier spoke to his mom & brother(s) about school, Dmitry reminded them HIS CHILD could not go to school... S/He was hiding from Russian artillery in a basement. -Also, Dmitry told them, "Slaves cannot protest while on their knees!" #SlavaUkraini 🇺🇦🇺🇸🇮🇱

I know he wants to go home, but I think It would be better for him to remain as a POW in Ukraine rather than risk being sent back to the front. I think his mother would agree that he stay a POW if she had the option and thought it through carefully.

@mememe733
@mememe733 Год назад
@@samipan3410 Where did I say he was sweet and innocent? I said he was very sweet and caring towards his mother and the kid (possibly his younger sibling) that’s very different from what you wrote. Also, as I understood it, he actually didn’t commit any atrocities or kill anyone. I know I would not be as “benevolent” if it was my country that had been invaded and atrocities against my people had been committed, but since it’s not, I can perhaps be a bit more objective. Fact is that he was already in the military before this war as a conscript, and that he would have to go to war regardless of signing a contract or not, even wether he wanted to or not. I don’t know where you are from, but if you are in the military you are taught from day one to follow orders since that’s absolutely essential for a military to even function. And if you have lived your entire life in a society that does everything it can to prevent you from thinking independently, it’s probably hard to not follow those orders. Not everyone who joins the military are bad people, especially not in countries where mandatory military service is required. This young “man” just turned nineteen in November, and as a mother of a 24 yo, I can say that he truly is just a big kid. Our brains are not even fully developed before the age of 25. When you are subjected to the traumas this kind of brutal and bloody war causes, especially being inexperienced and not knowing/understanding what is awaiting you or why, when you feel that everyone hates you and even invisible enemies are trying to constantly kill you, and you have no support or protection from your own “brothers in arms” and superiors, when you feel that you can’t trust anyone and you are scared and stressed out 24/7, with adrenaline and cortisol flooding your body nonstop, it absolutely triggers a fight, flight or freeze response, and if you are prevented from flight, there’s only the option of fight or freeze left. If you are being directly attacked and want to survive, you fight. In such conditions you might very well end up doing things you would never have done otherwise, and regret later. Many soldiers know this and many veterans are not only haunted by what the have seen, but also what they themselves have done while in war. This doesn’t mean that I in any way support what Russian soldiers are doing in Ukraine or that I could ever have any understanding, sympathy nor forgiveness for those who knowingly commit atrocities, like rape, torture, executions etc. I think there’s something inherently wrong with those bastards, who are capable of such actions. Statistics say that about 10% of all people have sociopathic/psychopathic personality characteristics and it’s also known that these kind of people usually are attracted to positions where they get to have power/control over others and exercise unhindered dominance, so there are probably an even higher percentage in the army. But let’s be real, there’s a big difference between someone who is scared sh..less, in a life and death situation, and shoots to survive the day, even though they don’t want to be there at all, and someone who are safe in an occupied area and engage in despicable acts of rape, torture and cold blooded murder. You simply cannot say they are the same kind of person. When surrounded by evil you have to fight to remain human. To not be infected by the same evil that you find despicable in others, because if you do you have truly lost.

Do you know if the uninjured POWs are prioritized by Russia, on the exchange lists given that they could go " home" but immediately be sent back to fighting on the front line. It would be interesting to know if that happens. Do you know if Ukraine has had any " 2nd time around" POWs. Also on the phone conversations, it seems that many families expect their exchanged POW person will be coming back to their family. Slava Ukraine from New Zealand

Dima, hearing that your kiddo has to shelter instead of going to school breaks my heart. But despite the hardships, he'll likely be much better off in life than this young lad when he grows up. His dad seems to be by all means a responsible, caring and intelligent adult. Heck, you're even a role model for me, another dude of your age. But look at this dude's mom: "Kyrill's always going to be my little boy." No. No! He's an adult for heaven's sake. It's not enough that you love him. You were supposed to teach him how to be an adult! I swear to god my four year old is more mature than him. He has no idea how many people live in his own country! He seems to have trouble distinguishing real trouble from child's play. It's lovely how reassured he got once Dima played the good uncle tho, instantly forgetting he's a war captive. Greetings from Czechia.

Damn The last part, where the kid is asked about what he and the other prissoners talk about & he says they don't need to talk about war because they know - will they also not talk about it when they go home? What would it take to get the Russian people to stand up?

That’s how they get them, at that age they are easy to control with fear and manipulate. “Look! Cool guns, you can be a hero all dressed up in this nice uniform!” Including money which many Russians struggle with. His mother works at store, no father to help provide further. He wants his mother to be proud of him, and let’s be honest he wants to venture out at that age now. Being a electrician is good but he wants more exciting things to do! The army is perfect, at least what he’s told, then he got there and it’s all cleaning and training. Until he sent to war

Duuude, sending a 20 year old kid on a war of aggression, that's crazy... I felt similar about the kids that went to Iraq. - I knew a guy from the US, he went to school with me... He was the most "California type sunny boy", always happy, joking around. He liked PC games, so I often came by his desk to talk... Long story short: Some years later he went to Iraq, was never the same since... 😞 All for nothing, like in this case...

I think the boy is ok. He’s all smiles and laughs, he didn’t see much (like gore or death) he was only stuck in a trench and starved by his lieutenant. I think he will be fine. He saw Dima as a father figure that he never got growing up and Dima was Nice enough to treat like a son almost. I watched many others were in traumatic situations, he’s the lucky one. But I’m sorry to hear about your friend, war is horrible Edit : like this kid ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-0iL7O6d4s2A.html I think he was 18, but these Ukrainians were a bit too rough on him I’d admit. The tape was unnecessary around the eyes and hands, he isn’t going to do anything . But the boy was having a mini panic attack

This one kills me a bit. He is younger than my own and seemingly ignorant of why he is even in the military and fighting. His immediate goal in life was to have his own apartment. My children were the same but they did not choose blood money as a means. I don't think this kid even considered his actions directly or indirectly caused the deaths of innocent men, women, and children. Confusion is all over his face. Mom said she is against the "operation" but also said she sent him to the army. It's all so sad, just sad that such a young life has been thrown away with so little thought. As he grows up he will have to come to terms with his actions and role played in murdering innocent people.
@Vendetta_s
@Vendetta_s Год назад
But he wasn’t involved in any killings. Some of his people, yes, but not him and that guilt shouldn’t weigh on him. He was bound to be mobilised anyway, he had no choice,and jail is not a good option especially at his age. Disgusting they can be with clueless teens. He is just foolish really, young and dumb, brain doesn’t develop fully until 25 along with maturity. But he’s smart in a way he picked to go and not be in jail or forced. It seems he was hazed too, he just doesn’t want to admit, his demeanour lowered quickly and he looked away -- he tried to play the question off. He did admit being threatened however and you think at that size and age he can take on his 40yr old lieutenant? He also seems very well raised and respectful of older people, taught to listen and not disagree. I’m happy that Dima acted as a father, it’s what the boy needed he’s going to miss Dima, he was willing to learn about Ukraine and was all smiles and laughs compared to older men who are blank faced

He wasn’t doing for Putin. He was conscripted in 2021 by time he was 18 and the army pays better than a regular job in Russia, plus military is always so tempting for kids his age. Tanks, cool guns from video games,can be all dressed up as a hero , plus other benefits I think it can help with college and housing. He knew the bad guy was Putin too. He went to avoid jail and being mobilised is worse treatment and less money. I feel he was likely hazed too, just couldn’t admit it. He’s also respectful of older people, except when it came to his lieutenant 😅, so probably also followed outta fear and the high ranks
