Filmed at Tilburg, Holland, Oct 2008 - Taken from the DVD/Blu-Ray "Anesthetize" (2010) Directed by Lasse Hoile For info please visit : www.porcupinetr... Porcupine Tree store : www.burningshed...
Please do not tell my RUSH fan friends that I said this but I think Gavin is a "better" player than Neil.... more subtle and versatile; more "musical" in his contributions to the compositions... RUSH will never be replaced as my lifetime favorite band but Gavin has taken the top percussionist throne from my beloved Professor.... Rock on!
It's refreshing to see how musically literate the crowd is. They immediately started clapping to the correct time signature, and adapted later down the road.
that's the thing someone commenting in another video missed. Porcupine Tree followers KNOW their music. They're into the music and signatures, not up there watching the concert through their phone.
I disagree...check out Camel In From The Cold Snow Goose in its entirety, Live at Royal Albert Hall Moonmadness in its entirety, Comin of Age Harbour of Tears in its entirety...nobody does live prog better then Camel
Man, what I would give to be able to discover this band all over again. Welcome man!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🖤🎶 Are you going to attend one of their upcoming concerts? Bought tickets for the concert in Amsterdam in November of this year.
It means so much to me as an American child of the 80s. We didn't call it "Mogadon" but ot was heavy. Now with an appropriate diagnosis in 2024. I get the message.
From an old guy that has listened to progressive bands like early Genesis, Yes, Camel and others , I recently found this and i'm totally amazed at what i'm listening too. Too bad the band is no longer together, but Steve's solo stuff is amazing. Love discovering new music.
I discovered them after they disbanded too. But better late than never, and they have so much music - especially with Wilson being so prolific on his own. I was getting tired of listening to old Genesis, Pink Floyd, etc., etc. - and then I heard these guys on Radio Paradise (internet radio out of L.A.). It wasn't long before I was calling them my favourite band of all time! Hope you get to see PT in concert this year!! I just bought my tickets for the Montreal concert yesterday and I've been sailing ever since 😁
as do I... I'm like you with my Yes , Caravan. Genesis et al collections since about 1969 when I was seventeen , but I've been listening to Porcupine Tree and Steve's solo material for about twenty years now and it's fucking awesome... I'm 69 and listen to new refreshing great music because it is something to make you feel and appreciate.. What utter splendour..
I don't know what blows my mind more everytime I listen to this song - the poetically dark lyrics, Barbieri's incredible soundscapes, Steven's vocals and solos, Gavin's mathematical drumming or John and Wesley on Strings!! Every aspect of this song is pure genius. Anesthesize, Arriving somewhere... and Fear of Blank Planet - best way to spend 35-40mins! Saw this song live in NY part of their new tour. 12 freaking years of hiatus... how sorely were they missed all these years.. and still miss John and Colin!!
@@benji0093 Yep, I will be seeing PT during their Closure/Continuation tour at the 7th of November this year in Ziggodome, Amsterdam. I'm very looking forward to this gig; I am thrilled to see them again after so many years!
The shot at 0:19 with the camera overlooking Steven's shoulder remains one of my favorite shots in any live video or music video. The perspective is absolutely amazing.
Definitely one of PT’s best songs from the 2000s, and from one of their best albums. These guys really knew how to pack a punch with their dynamic music.
Quite possibly the best prog band of the entire 21st FN century. Steven Wilson is an absolute monster songwriter. Some of the most talented musicians on the planet are on that stage. Anesthitize is legendary… looking forward to either a PT or SW album in the near future.
u forgot TOOL on your list Bro . They are still one of the most creative prog bands as well ( drummers of each band are incredible ) . These guys are phenomenally talented , like TOOL 4 members but with a very distinct unique prog style .
I would agree...but Camel is still out there touring and Rajaz is a great album but P.T did release more material in early 2000's before a 12 year hiatus coming before C.C....but Steven did some great solo work in between
For those who miss Porcupine Tree , check out The Pineapple Thief (Gavin is the drummer ) , Blackfield ( Wilson's project ) and ofcourse Wilson's solo career .
Wilson's solo career is legendary also like porcupine tree but i still miss porcupine tree Btw storm corrosion was a great project i hope steven and mikael will do another collaboration he said recently that he is interested
I discovered PT by accident on Spotify and have been hooked ever since. They are so underrated , at least here in the USA. My excitement when I found out they are touring the states this fall turned to disappointment when I learned the date they are playing in the Boston area is 2 days before I see Eric Clapton. If the economy wasn't in the toilet I would dish out the $$$ and see them.
I have a idea for U? Sell Eric Clapton tickets and Go See and Hear PT Live in Concert! I’ve seen them Both myself and PT is Much Better to See and Hear Live in Concert!
Porcupine Tree is so ahead of their time to help w/ wounds and scars that are mental, emotional to fix physically; and only over a hundred thousand; that like their music!? Such an underated band!!
Dining out last night and a friend introduced me to this band. Unbelievable that I've not heard of them until now. What a great introduction to a new sound. Love them!!
Why can I only click the LIKE button once? Perhaps because I would have clicked it a thousand times or so by now? In 2022 this still deserves multiple LIKES by myself and others.
I know! I want to spam-click the "like" button" :D But you can always re-watch and spam this link to everyone else so that it gets more views (and hopefully likes). That's what I do. xD ** EDIT ** By saying "spam this link to everyone else" I meant that you "spam" your friends with the link to this epic live performance and not the real spamming!
I wonder how many people understand what Gavin actually does at the 1:48 mark? WOW! And only Gavin Harrison can pull that off that smoothly. Incredibly impressive world class.
Quelle composition ! A la fois élaborée et abordable. Une pure merveille que je ne me lasse jamais de réécouter. Porcupine Tree est sans conteste le plus grand groupe de ces 30 dernières années
Sunlight coming through the haze No gaps in the blind, to let it inside The bed is unmade, some music still plays TV, yeah, it's always on A flicker on the screen, a movie actress screams I'm basking in the shit, flowing out of it I'm stoned in the mall again Terminally bored, shuffling round the stores And shoplifting is getting so last year's thing Xbox is a god to me A finger on the switch, my mother is a bitch My father gave up ever trying to talk to me Don't try engaging me The vaguest of shrugs, the prescription drugs You'll never find, a person inside My face is mogadon Curiosity, has given up on me I'm tuning out desires, the pills are on the rise How can I be sure I'm here? The pills that I've been taking confuse me I need to know that someone sees that There's nothing left, I simply am not here I'm through with pornography The action is tame, the acting is lame Explicitly dull, arousal annulled Your mouth should be boarded up Talking all day, with nothing to say Your shallow proclamations, all misinformation My friend says he wants to die He's in a band, they sound like Pearl Jam The clothes are all black, the music is crap In school I don't concentrate And sex is kinda fun but just another one Of all the empty ways of using up a day How can I be sure I'm here? The pills that I've been taking confuse me I need to know that someone sees that There's nothing left, I simply am not here Bipolar disorder Can't deal with the boredom Bipolar disorder Can't deal with the boredom You don't try to be liked You don't mind You feel no sun You steal a gun To kill time You're somewhere, you're nowhere You don't care You catch the breeze You still the leaves So now where.
I’m a more recent listener… getting into PT through Richard… I’m amazed! This song is already one of my fav rock songs ever :) i love the drumming and the bass
Being a drummer.... I am astonished by such a insane drumming...you have to born such musical to be like him...he is legend Seen a lots of prog drummers... But...his fills are unique..Never seen such a cool prog drummer like him... He made PT one of my fvrt band for me..🙏🙏🙏
I'm both amazed at Gavin's technical proweress, and reduced to hysterical laughter watching him turn what often looks like a huge kit with tiny drums into a machine. The dude effortlessly uses every piece of equipment in that kit. Also, he doesn't look like what one might imagine a drummer for a band of this type looking like :D Just some dude with a normal haircut, and hair hanging from his lip ruling the world :D
