Gavin , the drummer , is IN King Crimson as well as The Pineapple Theif. Steven Wilson ,the singer/guitarist ,just recently remixed the whole King Crimson catalogue ,along with many others ( Yes ,Marillion, XTC , Tears For Fears ,Black Sabbath......). He also has an extensive solo career that is excellent. Richard , the keyboardist ,was originally a member of the 80s band Japan.

@@ZendelWashington Yep. Although 'remaster' is probably a better term, technically he's doing new surround sound mixes in addition to revamped stereo mixes but they're as faithful as possible to the original sound (while fixing muffled vocals or stuff wobbling about in stereo because of the limits of tape-based equipment in the 70s). Of course that also means you might be hard pressed to hear the difference on the stereo versions, unless the songs had big issues to begin with (his remix of Jethro's Aqualung makes the vocals a lot easier to make out, but In The Court of the Crimson King is harder to differentiate).

You could describe the style of drumming as meticulously precise, creative, with perfect technique and meter. Gavin is arguably the best drummer I've ever heard, includng Carey, Bruford, and Peart. There's a reason he is so highly regarded. His secret weapon is his cymbal work. He doesn't just accent with them and ride them. They are played with thought. Just listen to his hi-hat opens.

Gavin Harrison's style is "Rhythmic Design." Lots of time signature changes as you pointed out. He's a beast and my fav!

Check out, ‘Arriving Somewhere but not here’ Live from Chicago or ‘Anesthetise’ Live from Tilburg. Those are the zenith of Porcupine tree but they have many many brilliant tracks.

1) beer 2) green Nice reaction my dude. As others have already commented, PT have made some great music over the past decades. Frontman Steven Wilson's solo efforts are just as good or better too, especially if you like proggy concept albums with phenomenal musicians.

Man I don't know where to start Porcupine Tree from the last record in their discography??? Porcupine tree have had a long journey of development, where the beginning of the journey was Steven Wilson and his first project No-Man and then he himself wrote songs for Porcupine Tree...It's a long journey!!!

It's ok. I only discovered PT a few years ago too. Now they are well and truly in my top 5, along with Tool. In some ways, I think Gavin Harrison is the better drummer....but it's pretty close 😄 Happy discovering. PT are incredible.

What drumming style do you call it... Gavin style... or clever. Take your pick. The song is in 10 but the way they flow you can be fooled into thinking it's an unorthodox 8. Gavin and PT is just amazing.

Gavin is a better classical drummer than Danny, and Steven has a better voice than Maynard for their age totally different styles. Only to an extent. I'd take ptree over tool though and I've seen both live
