Just about to pick up my new to me 2018, 718 Boxster GTS! My past cars have all been hardtop coupes and manual transmission, 1985 911 Coupe, 1991 911 C2 Coupe, and a 2006 Cayman S. Really excited to try this car with it's pdk and cabriolet top! 365 hp and low 12 quarter mile times sounds great, and that engine sounds so mechanical if you listen to it at mid rpms, you can hear Porsche music! This car is faster than the old GT4 and probably just as fast as the newer GTS 4.0. An APR tune drops the quarter mile down a second to low 11ish, putting all but the newest GT3 in your rear view mirror!
It’s a beautiful car and definitely the sweet spot in the p car range. I don’t think you will get much better unless you slip into the 120k plus category. Oh and relax and enjoy the alcantara steering wheel
Great video! Love the review you have done on this and previously on your base Cayman! I have the Boxster T (manual not PDK) a bit over a year now and am debating weather to go for the Boxster GTS 4.0 (again in manual). What are your thoughts? I know the GTS 2.5 and 4.0 have a similar 0-60. Did you feel the difference in power from your base to this? Any advice is welcomed! Thanks!
Ah thanks Aris ! That’s a really good question and one that I will be answering in an upcoming video but for now, being open, I think the speed of the base case is superb and perhaps for that alone, it wouldn’t be worth the upgrade. However, saying that, that additional power does make it feel more alive! And with the LSD, it’s more playful in the back end, oh and it does pop and bang more which I personally like having owned a Mini John Cooper Works that lived to annoy my neighbours! Hope that helps but I’ll do a video soon to go into it further
@@LifeInMotionuk Thank you for you reply! Really appreciate it! The thing with the T is that it has all the goodies from the GTS (Sport PASM, PTV (LSD), sport exhaust, etc.) and the short shifter from the GT4 but unfortunately the base 2.0 engine.. and for that reason I am struggling to justify the extra cost for the upgrade.. or perhaps I am looking to justify it LOL! Anyway, looking forward to the next video! Keep it up the excellent content!
Solid review. I recently bought a 2018 with 20k miles on it. The PADM failed immediately after I drove it off the lot, but fortunately the dealer is repairing it. I'm really looking forward to living with the car and getting it on the track. It's my first Porsche.
@@LifeInMotionuk - my wife drives an Abarth, and I'm trying to get her to upgrade. I liked the Abarth video you produced and think the Mini JCW sounded superb. Think that would be a great next car for her. Perhaps I could 'borrow' it for a blast then.
