Spotted the Mezzo Mix, my wife (German) introduced me to that on my first visit to Germany with her. Road-trip looks awesome, makes me yearn to live in Europe again. Enjoy
Europe is great, the freedom motorists enjoy even in high season is hard to appreciate until you experience it. Yep Mezzo is my go to road trip drink, totally unhealthy but keeps you focussed with all that sugar and tastes great.
Thanks Ruddy that is great to know! There has always been a link with Porsche and VW and not just in their origins but GTIs have always been the car 911s (and now Caymans) share a driveway with as the practical option that still feels not totally disimillar and remains classy.
Doing my own european trip next year. Going to nurburgring in my new car. Been following a while and you might remember me commenting with my cupra, then most recently my RS4 which ive decided just didnt quite live up to my expectations so I've unbelievably gone for my dream car the C7 RS6, somehow i can afford to run and maintain it and still have enough spare cash to save if something goes wrong. Can't wait to get the beast om wednesday, its 650hp and 800nm of torque!!!
Andrew, done this drive a few times and this year aswell - didn’t you fancy buying your ‘vignette’ online for all the relevant countries, even Switzerland you can do this now?
@@1000davidcole no it doesn’t. Check the website. You can but a 10day vignette or a 2month vignette online for use immediately. We bought ours whilst driving using our smartphones.
Great idea Peter, but didn't know where we were going until day before. Even eurotunnel was booked 48 hrs prior. The vignettes are dead easy to get from shops and petrol stations & 'friendly' Swiss border police :)
@@volkswizard yes I recall having to do that a few years ago. The fact you didn’t really know exactly where you were going makes it even better to use your smartphone and buy online whilst en route - they make it so easy. We’ve ended up doing this the last two years because we didn’t know which route we were taking until the very morning or that we changed our mind and headed into a different country.
Great video. I took my Emira over some of those passes in mid- to late September, though we stayed in Andermatt. I think that's a great base for exploring 🙂
Thanks David. We did Andermatt on the way back, I did a 1000 mile review of the car on the Susten Pass ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nfR9Mjm8sAY.htmlsi=cJHbqLQsuOFi3_HO
That's a good question and yes I've had my eye on that sort of mod since I first drove a 981 2.7 which TBH needs it more than a GT4. I'd love it and if I keep the car forever I will definitely get it done to fall in love with it all over again
Thanks! Best hurry up as production stops soon. Might have to join you with Euro delivery as can't see me doing it with an EV and 911s are too big and expensive
Return leg was posted on the day I did it; ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nfR9Mjm8sAY.htmlsi=cJHbqLQsuOFi3_HO The watch is an Oris Big Crown bought new in around 2003 with my first bit of cash from selling cars. Probably because Oris sponsored Audi's Le Mans effort and seemed like a cool less obvious Swiss watchmaker.
Thanks Jon. Splitter is doing OK actually. That reminds me, one of these was going through BCA auctions. When GT4 is new, dealer fits splitter pre-delivery, they never get shipped with it on as risk of damage is too high on transporters etc. You can guess what happens when a used one gets shipped to auction. Totally smashed splittler and bumper as it was driven on and off truck - such a shame
What a beautiful journey in one of the best cars in existence... You are a happy man, Andrew 🙂! It has been such a good decision to trade in Your automatic GTS for a manual GT 4!!! A Porsche GT- car is always special and much more desirable than the "ordinary" models. This GT 4 is it worth to always be kept in mint condition and to never be sold again! Nice that You have visited Austria... i hope that You have enjoyed my native country and keep it in good memory! 🙂 Best regards!🖖
@@volkswizard Oh Yes... if You keep aside the political situation, Austria has much to offer! If You avoid the big cities and stay at the rural areas, You will find amazing landscapes, nice people and various cultural and gastronomic heritage! You are welcome anytime! 😃
Very much enjoying these travel videos. Have done many, but not all, of those destinations over the years. Dropping in and out of Switzerland/Italy in the mountains is familiar and reminds me of all the nonsense being peddled about 'borders' in 2016 (apologies for the politics).
