Any generation of Porsche 911 is a prime candidate to be investment royalty on the used market, and the 993 generation is easily one of the most visually distinct generations of the Stuttgart icon ever.
With its soft and rounded styling hiding an excellent sports car platform, with both tank-like engineering quality and phenomenal performance for its time, its not too much of a stretch to say that you can easily use one of these Porsche 993's both as a daily driver and future proof investment all at the same time...

Thanks for this. I've a 1996 993 C2 iris blue metallic, 66,000 miles, 6-speed manny tranny, varioram, LSD. No CEL, no oil leaks. Multi-show full-concours winner. I do my own maintenance. I'm never selling it.

God that left side driving, I'm pulling right into the damn van. I was like 'look out' :) Great video. 1996 993 cab owner here. It's such a fun car and so drivable. I sue it as my daily right now.

The 993 & 964 Carrera 4 are the ultimate sports cars. Throw a supercharger on them and it has everything!

I had a 993, now have a 964. I agree, as time goes on these cars seem to age so gracefully. Not so modern as to be filled with video screens, but modern enough to be reasonably fast and safe. They’re also the perfect size, whereas the newer ones are large - losing some of the immediacy.

Yeah I featured a 991 Targa more recently and they’re much larger now. To some benefit, but definitely moving away from the signature nimble size of the 911 shape

The 993 in Tiptronic is a lovely car.... In the US, we got Tiptronic S in the 993 which revised the software and added +/- buttons on the steering wheel, pre-paddle shifters. At the time, it was a revolutionary device that made the 911 a more livable car on the road; however, it was also largely misunderstood by enthusiasts. If you know how to work/actuate the system it's very engaging, reliable, consistent and fun to drive alternative to the manual box. Shifts are lightning quick, and in the real world, where the rubber meets the road- It'll go down the road rivaling its manual counterpart- again, this is a 35 year-old design- and for it's time, it was ahead of it's time. Much more than an automatic.

We have the Tip S in Europe too, it’s just that the Tip is up until 1994 and becomes Tip S from 1995.

Bought a 1996 993 Carrera in 2020. Iris blue, manual, hardback sports seats, sunroof, aircon. Been looking for that exact spec for years. Finally found a bloke near Doncaster who was flogging a 90% finished 'project' car. Negotiated a good price and drove it home. Probably spent the thick end of 10K on it since then (mechanical and cosmetic) but absolutely love it. Never going to sell it. Been all over the place in it with the missus and little dog since then (Skeggy/Cornwall/Devon/Dorset) since then and even she doesn't mind it (result!). Just bought a 1986 BMW 635CSi (1 owner!!!) for our next little trips. Cheers from a (bloody wet) Otford, Kent.

Great video, I agree with most of it aside from the Tiptronic which I feel tarnishes the 911 experience. Also the AC is a bit lethargic for those in warmer climates. Thanks a lot.

I thought I've seen this video before. Nice one though. My friend has a 964 tiptronic and it's very much misunderstood box. Works great in manual mode. 964 and 993 tips are MUCH cheaper than the manuals and these can be great (relative) bargains. 964's and 993's are always expensive but these are less pricey. Cheers, great channel. I also love the Jag content.

How’s the tiptronic? I’m finding it so tiresome to drive a manual transmission car nowadays as I’m growing older (im having leg pains from constant clutch brakes) so considering getting an automatic classic sports car.

I’d say very good, especially for its time, and a better alternative to a stricter auto-only sports car setup
