Porsche 911 GT3: Full Road Review - Carfection 

If anybody ever deserved a GT3 its this man right here.

The main thing I want to get out of a car review is: how does it feel to drive? That's why I give this video 10/10. Well done!

All these car bloggers buying GT3s like Shmee make a video or two and then they forget about it. Because it’s about blogging shit, boasting about doing miles in their expensive cars and pressing the upshift paddle. This one video from carfection had so much love and passion for cars and this one in particular!

That sound... That sound of atmospheric flat 6 breathing and screaming at 9000rpm... It is something to die for

I just purchased this exact car. It now resides in New Zealand. Its now done 40,000km (prior owner in nz used it as a daily, open road driving). Its my first gt3, but let’s just say I’m a happy camper.

The way you feel about the GT3, I feel the same for my Boxster...just not to the extreme of the GT3. The GT3 is on a league of its own. My Boxster’s handling, steering feel, and sound of the naturally aspirated flat six give me goosebumps on twisty backroads. All car guys need to own a Porsche once in their lives, and it didn’t have to be a GT3!

Another extremely well crafted video. And of course the car is absolutely fabulous as well.

I owned a 1st gen Boxster S - and before I never understood the “goosebumps inducing” flat 6 sound - Porsche fans are talking about. Well - after I owned it I know - and I want it back in my life. And the best and probably most extreme variation is the 911 GT3. The video is just stunning. Better than anything what huge budgets are producing these days. Kudos to Carfection and Henry - to pull this off. The only problem is, that youtube is just giving the option to simply thumb up this video. I want to thumb it up 10 times.

My PDK 991.2 daily driver is a blast on snowy roads at -25C (you read it right, with Sottozero’s obviously). It’s also spot on at the track at +28C with the Cup 2’s. It all about the feel, and there is a ton in the GT3, full stop. PS Have faith everyone, my first car was an AMC Pacer 38 years ago!!.

Just watched this again - superb review and very accurate. I’ve put over 10,000 km on one... however the sport button is for rev matching etc - the sport suspension button is on the red side of the gear lever

I gotta be honest here- This Brit is very articulate without being too posh in his explanation, I like how Henry is very involved and emerged into the drivi g experience, I’m American. And frankly will admit The Brit’s do the best motoring reviews. Thanks Henry. Keep up the great work from USA!

Dear Henry and the Carfection Team, The GT3 has been my dream car as long as I can remember. I am one of the lucky ones, I picked up my manual 991.2 GT3 a few weeks ago. You have summed it up perfectly, its all Glorious and now its my daily driver. So good, possibly one of the last analogue giants. Thanks for a fantastic review, Ive watched it so many times. Keep up the good work. Engine sound is 10 times better IRL but for me the stand out is the handling with the 4 wheel steer. :)

I must say Mr. Catchpole, you have become my favorite automotive journalist. This video and the one with the McLaren ( at this moment I don’t recall the model) in Scotland ( again unsure, sorry) are two of my favorite videos of all time. What you do different, is that when I watch your videos I really get the emotion, the feeling that I have experienced it too. The McLaren video I felt was the most artistic videos I have ever seen. Many thanks for this brilliant review Henry ! As a blessed owner of both the GT4 and the GT3 manual I find your comments and assessments spot-on, and would add, that there are minimal differences between the 2 gear boxes. Where the GT4 gearbox is extremely "classical" (that is: no helpers from the control units, except auto blip when in Sport), the GT3 gearbox is gently supported by a few "hidden feet", which allow you to stay on the gas while shifting. Upwards and downwards, that is. The car will give the gas pedal a subtle nudge, so you will land in the right rev range, when the next lower or higher gear is engaged. If you start understanding, appreciating and using this (slightly counterintuitive) capability, you are finally lost to the car, and can't stop driving it.

I have just come back from doing 1000 miles around Scotland in the same manual GT3 ...all types of tarmac road conditions.. the one thing that stands out by far the most is the SUSPENSION .. astonishing.. it tapped out around twice ! Fantastic alrounder!

For a car so crazy, with Henry talking and the editing I feel so relaxed after watching this.. 10/10

I was greatly blessed to be given the chance to have a long drive in it, except its a PDK on steel brakes. I realised just a few kilometres in, the connection with the car is beyond any other car, not even the other wonderful cars I had driven. This GT3 syncs with your intentions, and executes the movements with fluidity and finesse that always leaves me admiring! Nirvana!

I want one! My first real Porsche experience was a drive in a clients 2014 911 turbo S.. a phenomenal car. So comfortable and sedate just cruising around.. but get on a B road and woah! The client tossed me the keys and said I could have a shot but as a total fanny I declined in case I curbed a wheel or did something stupid that would probably bankrupt me... I regret not driving it, but that one drive got me hooked on Porsche’s. One day I’ll own one! One day... Great content gents 👍🏻

Awesome review but I'd never have this car in anything other than the PDK, the difference in 0-100 is huge between the two. The chasis and steering is enough to give you plenty of involvement without the need of a stick.

So another winner, from the opening ten seconds of this VT intro you just know its going to be mega... Fortunately you had a subject matter that could match it. Mr HC personal love of this car really came through and says a lot. All the modern electronics are just killing cars of feel, in doing so removing the love and making them sterile in a manner it no longer matters which make you drive. Software is being used to smudge the things they didn't really get right cheaply.

I have been Alpine skiing since I was eight. That journey started fifty three years ago. And now, people ask me about skiing equipment all the time. So I tell them, the best skiing equipment doesn't remind you that you using it. In other words, you forget about it because in inclement weather you're comfortable and can concentrate at the task at hand. Pretty much sums up my own feelings about this car. Beyond the quite frankly amazing experience of hitting that 9,000rpm redline, the level of engagement and feedback you get from driving the GT3 is unlike anything else I've driven. I purchase my 2019 gt3 this week and this video just made me so much more excited:-) this guy has the best car reviews I think on the internet. Live his filming and you can tell he spends a lot of time and puts a lot of energy into his content. Bravo!

I've been watching you from time to time since last year but now, after this vid i'm confident in saying that you've become the best car channel on youtube. Ideal combination of in-depth specs and review of a car as a tool to make man happy. All this with great photos in beautiful landscapes, good sound and montage quality. Chapeau bas.

I had the opportunity to drive one in Las Vegas on a track and fully agree that it is a very special car. I will never forget that experience.

Something to add that wasn't said; the 339 ft.lbs. happens 200 rpm earlier than in the 991.1 GT3 RS's 4L.

Just a note. The pdk has a sequential manual mode in the stick ala rally car, if you feel bored or uninvolved just use it instead of the paddles, it's quite a LOT of fun.

At 13:13 that upshift with that little gap in the gears I find so nice to listen to, when you just engage in the clutch and get back on the gas immediately. But it only sounds great when you hear it from a distance. 13:13 that distance.

When this video was launched, I was still waiting for my GT3 Touring. Three years had passed, I had a chance to run a 991 GT3 Touring together with a 991.2 GT3 RS for 12 months, I ended up selling the GT3 RS, and kept the GT3 Touring. The Touring is simply more engaging more of the time, thanks mostly to the manual gearbox and more usable suspension set up. It's exactly what this video is all about.

having driven one at PECLA, i IMMEDIATELY fell in love with the GT3...

I just purchased a 991.1 GT3. All the reviews of that car center on no manual, rear steering, electric steering, etc...It was the revolution from the 997 and, sadly, all the reviews were about the new features people feared. Now that they are all accepted, pdk included, its about how amazing the .2 is. I would love to see a review of the .1 where the focus wasn't on whether to accept the new features that make it perform as well as it does.

Wow.. great video... The engine note is beautiful.... Mr Henry is just loving to rev up through each of the available gears .... And who wouldn't !! After all it's a GT3 with a MANUAL !!! I wish I could lay my eyes on one in real life.....

I love how there's no extra crap over the steering wheel. All the buttons are moved away to the center console, I love this design.
