@@elite4124 but the carrera S is better for me i am not Forced with the lowered 10mm suspension (pasm) ( I used to own 911.1 turbo s and it was not comfortable for me) you are forced with that suspension 10mm , am I right?

I like it but I still hate the new tail lights and back end. The 2017-2019 tail lights/back end was way sexier and I wish this car had that. It would be perfect then
The base Carrera is now very compelling. Joe Achilles got 3.54 second for a 0-60 sprint which is quicker than previous generation GT3's and when you add a slightly more 'daily friendly' suspension, you might as well save a ton of cash on the higher models IMHO.
I think Porsche opted for a smaller steering wheel since that’s actually how you want it in a track car that’s not F1. And that’s the reason you can’t see the outer display portions quite as well. Despite what most manufacturers tell you, a “dented” steering wheel (or a rectangular one for that matter) is not better on the track. F1 is a different story but F1 drivers never need to re-grip the steering wheel for cornering (forgive my english please). You want a small steering wheel that’s round so it can glide through your hands. Dented steering wheels look sporty but perform worse on the track I bet. I don’t know though, I’ve only driven round steering wheels on the track.
I literally cringed when watching that, it yielded like a plastic panel in a cheap washing machine. This tells me all I need to know about interior "quality" in new Porches.
Brilliant review! Thanks for the awesome cinematic shots as well. I have a Carrara white 992 gts on order, cannot wait for delivery next year. This is the actual sweet spot of the line up, and with two backseats it ticks all the boxes. I have pdcc optioned as well so looking forward to the smoother ride effects.
I also ticked PDCC but have now removed. From what I understand from a bit of research outside the dealership - it’s an almost negligible difference given the lowered chassis and stiffer suspension of this model (arguably on the 992’s in general) and more worthwhile with the cayenne / panamera etc
I have PDCC optioned in my build as well but deleted the stiffer helper springs. What interior did you option? I’m on the fence about the chalk/red GTS interior packages and matte carbon.
@@TuvingtonD do not select regular Pasm by deleting the helper springs option as this will give you an increased ride height which will make the 911 look bad. The lower the more sporty it looks. Ask me how I know. To answer your question about the interior, I went with standard Interior with leather/race tex, and selected seat ventilation (leather seat centers). No leather on the dash. Save yer money.
@@CB-oq7tr I have yet to confirm the ride once I receive the car. But I did have a 992 c2s without the 10 mm drop and over bumps especially on an intersection when turning it was very very bumby that the chassis was wobbly. Therefore I chose pdcc. Ask me how I know. These options are there for a reason.
Thx for review. I switched my 991.2 Turbo S cab for 992.1 GTS manual/glass roof top. Easy… tts was fast in straight line, beautiful, etc… not that engaging though in 99.9% of my driving conditions. A manual gearbox, clutch, rev matching/heel-toe stuff just makes the driving so much more fun and alive… every round-about is an opportunity to attack, down shift, rev match and go!! Fun as heck.Then i havent even mentioned the Burmester sound…YOLO.
Too bad they are going for huge dealer markups here in the states and you cannot get an allocation for a new one. I’ve gone to 3 dealers and they all said getting an allocation on a new 911 is impossible so I’d have to look at the used market. I understand since they all had a laundry list of customers that purchased multiple Porsche vehicles from each dealer waiting for an allocation and this would be my first Porsche. One dealer even mentioned starting with a used Cayman to build a relationship with the dealer, which over time could eventually get you a 911 allocation. A Used 2018 GTS that had 2 previous owners recently sold for $185K at my local Porsche dealer. A 2020 used base Model that I test drove was going for $115K, I just can’t pull the trigger on that. Porsche is king and I’m in the market, I’m just having trouble coming to terms with the reality of the 911 and even the Cayman marketplace.
The packages Porsche offers on these vehicles, drives me insane! I will own one, but it will definitely be used. To buy one at over a 100grand, and it not have simple features such as heated seats? Would be to much of a frustration for me.
@@romanvice That's a big consolation lol 😆. I like them but the lack of standard equipment at those prices is a deal breaker. At least for now. I can afford one with a few options. Not ready for another vehicle yet, bought a car last year. Maybe in a couple years will take another look?
I LOVE the 992 generation of the 911 but it always bothers me looking at the digital gauge cluster. It looks like the screens have a bezel of a mid-2000s TV....
Yellow GTS coupe, manual, red leather 14 way, glass roof, 5lug black wheels, steel brakes... LETS GO! It'll last longer then that "bum-ass" R8 & without the track, who needs carbon ceramic?
lovely car great review but i don't think it should be that expensive quality is not really all there. look at 4:06 when he pushes those buttons everything moves, i know that sound a bit nitpicking but for that money those things just cant be happening.
Most people who see this video don't care about the Audi R8. No need to you bring your thoughts of it here. Porsche 911 have the own category and is not comparable to anything!
these redundant reviews are getting really boring - you want a regular Carrera with a manual and a tune or them making a Carrera T with the powertrain of the Boxster 4.0 GTS with the 6 speed manual that no-one is buying .....
Well, you can't get a manual gearbox on the regular Carrera, and they won't be putting the 4.0 litre engine in the Carrera T! So maybe the GTS is the one to get after all. Haha
Everything that you said was correct! I was debating to buy this Porsche or the 2019 R8 V10 but I went with the R8 because the previous owner has upgraded the interior a lot and the steering wheel in carbon fibre. All in all, both are great cars but the R8 has won the looks category in my opinion.
If you take it on a road trip and get an unrepairable flat, you will be staying in a motel room for two days waiting for a new tire to show up. Not even the Porsche dealer keeps them in stock. Been there done that.
@@TuvingtonD It was my buddy's car and we never took it again on another road trip. We use the Subaru now with a full size spare in the back. Porsche is only good for going around the block. If you get stuck with an unrepairable flat in a remote area on a Saturday night you are so screwed.
@@davidowen2859 It took two hours because they had the tire in stock and the shop was open. What happens when the tire is not in stock and it's closed? You will be waiting.
@@bigmacdaddy1234 As I said not the case in the UK. Plenty of tyre companies 24/7. Never had a problem. Had to call out a tyre company for assistance 3 times over past 30 years. I suppose ultimately if it couldn't be sorted the car would be recovered not great but as long as no one dies no worries. Possibly different in US but we are a small country. Hard to be more than 20 miles from a garage.
The ride and interior road noise are a surprise. My McLaren 600LT Spider rides so much better and I honestly believe that it is so much quieter inside when on the motorway.
@@TuvingtonD I once owned a new 570S in 2017. Both cars have been 100% reliable but the 570 suffered from the famous corrosion issue. In between then I owned a 991.2 Turbo, fast but bland, then a new Vantage. Great GT car but not a supercar and a bit lively when pushed hard. I loaned it to JayEmm on Cars for his RU-vid review. 600LT Spider is easily the best car I’ve ever driven.
How about a manual 992 Carrera...oh wait..Porsche won't let you buy their flagship sports car with a manual gearbox, unless you spend spend spend....as if Porsche isn't profitable enough! Just bring us a manual Carrera you stingy bastards!
