Do you know how long I’ve been searching for a video like this? I want the same fabspeed platform and setup so I’ve been wondering what it actually sounds like thanks for the hard work
Nice video. Did you have to remove the x-pipe/cats and mufflers before swapping the headers? Or can the headers be replaced with all the other exhaust components on the car?
You can use the headers with the stock set up if you want. They will fit! I just bought the X pipe first to eliminate the cats. I live in FL so they don't smog check cars here. But if you put on an X pipe to eliminate the cats you could swap it back to get your car checked every year. It is easy to put on and take off fast.
Ordered headers and free flow cats from Soul…,I like the C2II wheels on the 997 in gunmetal on the darker 997’s, but your right the 997 Turbo and lobster forks do look better on the 996
nice video, I also do the same set up on my 997.1 C2S , which replace stock system to cargraphic header and xpipe and exhaust full set, which is used, also change the fabspeed intake and gt3 throttle body. The sound is surprisingly good but I just dont know how many horse power could incrase on this setting , as I didn't put my car on dyno.
You just spent 5 minutes explaining you’re worried about snapping a bolt. Then you say “ ok going to use my impact wrench” I almost cried!!!! Haha. Next time spray then the night before and use a ratchet. I have these. I came across this video since my passenger side snapped. Going to remove and weld.
No I have not dune an ECU tune yet. I am debating on weather to do it or not. I would like to dine a dyno near me first and run it on this set up first.
I have been looking for a place close to me that I can do some pulls on a Dyno and possibly swap out parts to see the gains or loss. I agree some of these things may lower HP.
Good luck with your search, if you can add a little more money and find a 996 turbo that is even better. I knew the original owner of my car and it was spotless for the money, so I went for it.
I did not notice any power gain, but it did add a more hollow sound and made the exhaust a little louder. It may add more power that would show on a dyno but like I said I can’t feel any more power.
Headers, X pipe, supercup muffles, tips, carbon fiber intake all total new is about $5,850.00 ya crazy I know! I probably paid all together $1000.00 searching for them used and I had to fix the intake. For the age of my car I wasn’t about to drop $6k on parts for it.
@@surftribe2404 - thats the quote i have from fabspeed on my 1999 996 - and i'm thinking the same way not speding too much - on a 1999 since i'm gonna sell it anyway, knowing i would not be able to get all the money i put in. - don't you agree?
@@M40753 I agree if you are going to sell it. If I had bought this car new or only a year or two old I would buy the new stuff. But Fabspeed is well made and I was able to clean up the used parts I bought to look almost new.
I'm not 100% sure I bought them used, I was told they were Fabspeed but they don't look like it to me. They came with the Fabspeed Maxflow mufflers I have not put on the car yet to try. I have the supercup mufflers on the car in this video. To be honest they look like the ones sold on ebay! They are stainless steel for sure because I hade to polish them up before I put them on.
Nice job man!! I was thinking on changing all that on my 996 /1999 also wow!! sound great !! but im afraid im not gaining any HP and i have to do a tuning on car after Mods - but great sound tho!! thanks for the video man! it make no sense to chance the muffler if you don't change the headers, correct? Mahalos- Bubba!
You don’t have to do a tune on the car after these mods for the car to run good but if you did it will give you a little more power. I did not do any tune to the car so far. If you want a better sound, then you can change the just the mufflers and it will open up the sound and a better flow of the exhaust. From what I hear from some Porsche mechanics is the stock headers are not to bad. It did sound even better when I put the headers on.
@@surftribe2404- thank you man for the info!! I will do more research !! but i know i will go ahead and get all like what you have on your car -- I have the K&N intake now -- but i change that i think to the fabspeed. Mahalos- bubba!!
Yes and no. I have a daily driver so when I drive the 996 I drive it like it was built to be driven, RPS over 6k so no drone if I had to drive in traffic all the time at 35 mph and low rpm's then ya it is has some. On the highway after about 30 minutes at a steady 80 mph it is a little annoying to some but it doesn’t bother me.
Great job ! & sounds amazing ! Im about to change the headers on my 996 also, i just purchased RD headers, cant wait to put them in and see whats the result. Aloha - Bubba
I’m not 100% sure I was told they were Fabspeed but they do not have the logo on them and they don’t look like the Fabspeed ones on online. I bought them used off a race 996 with the Fabspeed Supercup mufflers. They look more like ones from Racing Dynamics or IPE Headers
