This gives me hope James! Your dream car, attitude and goals are EXACTLY the same as mine. I’ve dreamed of 911/12 ownership for 50+ years and if I someday find myself with an SC like this I’ll feel the wait was worth it. And it sounds like like you’ve taught your daughter well.
My 996 is at Sonderwerks as we speak... like Disneyland for any Porschefile!!! Wish I had this gentleman's budget, maybe on the next one. Yet another great video, thanks for sharing
This is one of the gals who love Porsches and watches. I enjoy your videos and love seeing different people's cars spotlighted. Thanks for taking the time to share!
Thanks for the support. These interviews are really fun to do and the stories are fascinating. I have received some messages from a few people local to me who want to be featured so more to come 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Sweet, i have a 83 SC Slate blue with blue leather interior too! I have thought of selling it a couple of times but when driving it i always regret and it still in my garage :-) And yes, all my 4 kids are allowed to use it as well.
Good examples of air cooled Porsches really hold their values. Excellent examples keep growing in value. The thing with Porsche, miles don’t effect their values as much as Ferraris.
Lovely colour scheme of the rose gold on the blue. Great to see that the car has patina, plenty of miles and is being driven 👏 Winter here in the UK now so I have garaged my 70's 911 until mid-March or very early April when the local country lanes will be drier and mud free. Really looking forward to hitting the road in the car again next Spring, and when the long Summer evenings kick in I am going to be out until 9 in the evening just driving about and enjoying the empty roads ☺️
Great video and a great car, the owner has a vision and he has executed it perfectly. A great driver car that you can have fun with and not worry about hurting it or it's value. I have always wanted an SC era 911 so when I finally make the move from my 2002 this would be just what I will be looking for.
A short-shift kit is a very simple and effective modification I would recommend. It does not cost much and is installed in only an hour or two (the gear adjustment is the fiddliest part as I recall). I installed it in my 1982 SC, and found it to be a great upgrade to the 915 gearbox. With new synchro rings as well you will effectively have a ‘new’ gearbox.
Hi Chad. Are you from South Georgia area like 45 minutes from Valdosta? I didn't want to divulge where but if so my mechanic introduced us via email couple of years ago. I think we share same mechanic....Tiger? Your name just looks familiar!
Will. In your video description make sure to use 3 #. For instance #porsche #aircooled. Stuff like that. Google pulls from it. You’ll get more views. Great stuff.
Just wish they were worth more. Every other 911 has taken off basically -- even 912s --, but people will dump $40-50k into these in just overhauls and restorations and they're only commanding $50-70k. SCs just can't seem to really get going in the hottest Porsche market in history
Air cooled Porsche tax; $40k+ for a bruised SC w 240k ... unreal. Then again I have six figures in a beat up longhood! Old Porsches are just different good and bad!
I think $40K for a solid driver SC with extensive motor work that has been documented is a safe number. I am thinking he could get that back out of it.
@@Rennthusiast Slate Blue Metallic was available in 1983 and 1984 only; it is a toned down colour after the bright colours of the 70's. My '83 SC is Slate Blue Metallic. Some times I find it a bit boring and then at other times, in a different light, it is beautiful. Are you familiar with the site www.rennbow.org?
Love older Porsches. Like this car. Great color paint. The upgraded interior is HORRENDOUS - why do Porsche owners love LSD inspired inserts? Give it some Olin coilovers and keep rolling down the road.
You're $40k into an SC that will still need a trans and engine rebuild to the tune of $7-8K for the trans and $15-20K for the engine, and still only be a $40K car.
@@Rennthusiast Ahh, that makes sense. I have watched my SC drop 30-40% in value since I bought it 3 years ago, and after a fresh rebuild of the horrid 915 trans. Now I have broken head studs to fix... Nothing like spending C8 Vette money on a 40 year old Beatle
Wow. I am not aware of that depreciation dynamic at all. It’s obviously gonna be based on how much you paid for the car before finding out it needed expensive maintenance work done. Based on what I’ve seen, SC’s seem to be going for mid-30’s - mid-40’s depending on condition, rarity of color, mileage and available documentation. Cars that have had the head studs replaced, pop off valve installed (debate around whether this is needed or not) and chain tensioner upgrades are, I believe, the ones you want. I started off looking at SC’s when I found my 3.2. I still want to own an SC one day.
Chris Hughes I don’t have enough details about your specific case to weigh in, but I’m sorry to hear you’re upside down. These are great cars, though, so perhaps you can find a way to save money on the repairs then just drive the hell out of it!
@@immi505 ah it’s yours? $40k is much more palatable. I love the idea that the paints not perfect but the bodies sound and so are the mechanicals and it gets driven. That’s what I want to do.
