I've owned this Porsche 911 for 51 Years. My 1973 Porsche 911T Targa that I'm the original owner of. I'm fortunate to have been able to keep it this long. In this vid I go into all the details and changes that I've made to the car over the years and the many stories that go along with it. Richard and I then take her out for a spin as she is still my favorite car to drive.
Enjoy!

Cars of that vintage that have been modified are often a dog's breakfast. This one has been done with care and attention to the car's origins. Spectacular!

Some people just deserve cars they own! Is it a fate or a God's will but they clearly do! This guy is one of them. That Porsche is well taken care of! Best of wishes for both owner and car to make a lot of safe miles. As for a video crew and host, don't worry, people will eventually caught on your stuff and you will dominate YT one day. I have a 981 since 2015, it is the first and last car I ever bought, and living in these times of the switch to electrical blabla, and seeing how I only have maybe 15-20 years to live, I will keep it forever and drive into the sunset so to speak :) I hate those stories where people traded in their fave car to finance the next one, only to regret it later.... all the cars I could buy from hereon will be shittier, more bland.

I think I might have seen this very Targa parked on the Coast Highway in Laguna Beach about 48 years ago. Walking north about 100 feet south of the White House it was parked at the curb with the top off and it looked as good as a slice of tiramisu to me. I never forgot the chocolate Targa. It inspired me enough to be the happy owner of an 87 Targa now for 31 years. Great video, I love what Richard has done with his!

I have a '73 911T Targa (green) that I inherited from my Dad. Its been in our family since 1975. Mine's a survivor. Had an engine fire and sat, non-functional, all this time (about 40 years). I just had the engine rebuilt and fired it up for the first time last year. She runs beautifully. So much fun to drive! It definitely doesn't look anywhere as nice as yours. It's faded and scratched and a little rusty (like me, honestly) but its mine, and I've been waiting 40 years to drive it. I'll never give it up! Do I wish I had the $30-$50k to bring it back to it's original beauty? Sure. But for now, I'm happy to have it at all. There's nothing like them. Thank you for sharing yours with us!

Must be referring to that spring/dampered bumper with concertina side rubber moulds, similar to what Volvo did for their one year produced 850 mark 1.
@Richardsdelegance
@Richardsdelegance 27 дней назад
Hey @sonicstep - actually, there is no spring dampening feature inside the rubber bumpers, they're solid rubber - meant to collapse a bit if they were to be hit. As mentioned in the video, the '73 911 bumpers, was the only year they used that style, because the 1974 911's had to meet different DOT standards - if I misunderstood your question - please let me know - CheeRS

Wished I could own a Porsche of my own. However, in my country, imported cars are the most expensive. I could only own a Toyota Corolla based on my own finances. Perhaps, I could sell my Corolla here and buy a Porsche in the US. There is no 400% tax placed on cars in the US and there's definitely no Certificate of Entitlement required in the US. What a way to control car ownership in my country. So cool, the Porsche even comes with a Certificate of Authenticity.
@Richardsdelegance
@Richardsdelegance 22 дня назад
Hello @silverhawk911 - and that 's wild that you pay such a high tax on imported cars, a Toyota Corolla though is a style that has been around for years and a good economical car without a lot of service required, if well maintained. But she is certainly not a Porsche - depending on your finances and the availability for servicing a Porsche in your Country - I like the idea of making the trade. @ericcindycrowder7482 24 дня назад
Um…911 does not use a “timing belt” obviously all 911 use chains to drive the two cams (1 cam per bank on this vehicle). The belt in that tool kit was either for the fan/alternator, or maybe it would have been for the mechanical injection pump if this car had mechanical injection which it didn’t because its a CIS/K-jet engine. So the belt is probably the fan/alternator belt.
@Richardsdelegance

Hey @ericcindycrowder7482 - you are correct, our bad - because the belt is for the CIS alternator and not the timing belt. Thanks for correction - CheeRS

Hey @smiles1151 - good point - I did not save the original motor - my bad!! It had 115,000 and a leaker, so back then it wasn't worth rebuilding and keeping it. Especially after the modification - the engine would have not been appropriate for fender flares with big wheels and tires, but I get your point. No lose for the long hoods thought - I've got and original '73 S Coupe, MFI and all in silver and a '73 911 E sunroof original with MFI in black, but she is a 2.7L RS specked motor - so, long hoods are still my passion - CheeRS
