The Porsche 912 is a sports car that was manufactured by Porsche of Germany between 1965 and 1969 as their entry-level model. The 912 is a nimble-handling compact performance four-seat vehicle, delivering 90 SAE horsepower at 5800 rpm.[2] It is capable of up to 30 miles per US gallon (7.8 L/100 km; 36 mpg-imp) fuel economy. This combination is possible because of a high-efficiency petrol engine, low weight, and low drag. A variant of the Type 911, one of the most famous and successful sports cars of all time, the Type 912 initially outsold the 911, boosting the manufacturer's total production until success of the 911 was assured.

What a trip down memory lane! The very first car I ever bought for myself was a '66 912. Not as nice as this one, but pretty nice-and affordable back in the mid-eighties. Nice to see the script "912" and three gauge dash of the early models. Like most everyone who had a sports car as a kid...what I wouldn't do to have that car back now! Thanks for a great video!

That's funny. This video is made for someone who knows what a 912 is all about already, and who would just enjoy seeing and hearing a nice one. In other words, "Me". I will always have a place in my heart for the 912, having spent many years with a 68. I still miss that car... Thanks for the vid!

Great great car, underrated during many years, 'til recently is catching the attention it always deserved. Very balanced due to the lower weight of the 4 pot engine, nimble to the SWB chassis, a joy to drive.

That difference in weight was very noticeable. They are a joy to drive in canyons where you don't need the extra power of the six anyways. The 912 is far more forgiving than the 911. Having owned a 912 for many years helped me learn the unique handling traits of the 911 later. The 912 is much easier to keep under control when driving aggressively.

Brought back memories: back in the 90s, I was attending a conference in Orlando, when I saw signs posted around town that there was a car auction going on at the same time. I played hooky one day to see what cars were available, and they had a pretty little white 912 that I fell in love with. I think they were asking for about 25k for it. I've been kicking myself ever since for passing it up.

+SuperCarClassics - Europe's leading Classic Car Channel! ...well, I did even worse: when I was in college, I was driving to my night job one afternoon and spotted a beautiful little blue coupe for sale at a gas station. The design was so striking, I had to stop and ask about the price. The guy showed it to me -- it had a speedometer in kilos, and the engine was missing. But it was still so gorgeous, I wanted to use it for a coffee table, if nothing else. I left, getting back on my way to work. Next day, the car was gone. The guy at the gas station said someone bought it and said he planned to put a Chevy 327 in it. And the car? It was a BMW 507.

+Kathleen Bergeron 25k for a 912 in the 90's would have been a terrible deal. That's 911 SC money. The time to buy a 912 was about 2000-2010. You could pick up a prime example for 10k

Oh Kathleen! The 507 is the holy grail of collectibles. The only one that I have seen in real life was in a museum in Munich. When I was a kid my dad wanted to buy a Packard V16 with a blown motor that had been formerly owned by Clark Gable for 500 dollars, but my mom wouldn't let him.

brought one of these in the 1980s off a mate who was a car dealer , red one , drove it around thinking i was the nuts , as my car before was a triumph spitfire. ....... im afraid that when it started to go wrong lost patience, and swapped it for a 1968 pillerless coupe merc with my mate , and that was worse , but god i wish i still had it now , if fact wish i had them all🤩. in those days it wasnt about money , it was fun with your , pals , and women , great times
