Wow that looked like a ton of work. And all those OEM Porsche parts couldn't have come cheap. My hat's off to the people who can afford this kind of restoration.
A year ago... Nice restoration from inside and out. The time and $$$ well spent putting a awesome car back on the road. I had a 71 914 after high school... Rebuilt the engine and body where the battery ate out the suspension, painted it red. Fun car I miss driving it.
I had a 914 almost 50 years ago. That was an amazing fun little ride. This is an amazing piece of metal artwork in this restoration. Even the color was the same color of my 72. But, the flared funders ruin the body lines. The original 914's did not have those fender pop outs. Those completely ruin the body lines and nulls the restoration back to factory roll out. Other wise great job.
@@pyroboobysmith359 I was referring my 914 specifically and drawing that comparison. The stock 6 did not have flared fenders unless it was the custom GT-6. Otherwise all 914' s 6 without the GT option had no fender flares. They were a very limited order and the GT was set up for racing. Fender Flares did not come standard but special order. Also if you will look at the finished restoration the owner went with black rubber bumpers for this designates the years of 69-72. Chrome bumpers was not applied until '73 and later. I still think that the fender flares look like a add on from The Pep Boys auto body shop. If you look real close with your reading glasses, you will see that this car had NO FENDER FLARES prior to restoration while still in a heap in the grass and weeds. Car looks great, but definitely not an original restoration. Amazing how I have to bring knowledge to the uninformed.
I had a friend who rebuilt a couple of these, I neeed a front suspension, he took me to the farm there was 3-4 there that were in better condition than this one. What are they worth in same condition as yours ? Might be 3-4
I absolutely, hate your choice of music. It, was shut off at 1:20. So, if you added any dialog, it was thoroughly wasted on me. However you’ll need to decide between parting out your “Teen,” vs restoring the car.
I am looking to begin a 914 project. Can you give me any information on locating parts (body panels, etc.). Websites, catalogs, etc.? Thank you in advance.
Restoration Design out of Canada is your source for replacement panels. Back when I was rebuilding these 914’s, the companies were Automotion, Tweeks, Pelican Parts (great guys still around). Brad Meyer made a stiffening kit for the chassis. There are several 914 groups on the internet.
