Hi Pieter, just trying to mix it up a bit for you :) yes laser cutter was amazing - almost I’m tempted to switch my material for something slightly grainier.
Hi Todd, love your door card solution very jealous.... I used to Product Manage the development of Laser coders just a quick note it is worth getting proper laser glasses as the eye risk off reflective surfaces can be damaging. Also if you use a ceramic tile instead of a metal plate the laser won't be reflected..... I can see you starting to get some orders for door cards material cutting.... :0)
Wow! I never knew about that laser machine. Excellent attention to detail. I've been wondering how hard it would be to recreate a proper door card made of plastic. Something very sturdy like the 80's and 90's Honda door panels. Germans used cardboard and glue instead of plastic and screws. The door cards on my E36 M3 are horrendous!
I thought you were going to go back to a tan interior? Also that vinyl doesn't look to be quite leather grainy enough, but of course that is a personal choice or just a what you could get your hands on kinda thing.
Hi Les, I would love to return to tan, but I just don't think I will be able to do it. I would need a complete carpet set, retrim the seats, strip and redye the entire leather panels - its a lot of work and expense. Funny you mention the vinyl - the stuff I have looks better in person, but I was actually just searching for some slightly thicker material...
@@MrToddgibbs mine are in very poor shape. I was hoping you would become an expert at the laser holes for the rear. Then I could have you send me some vinyl ready to go.
Hey Jay, something like 1:10, I don’t think the make matters. I have heard that acetone is better as it doesn’t cause the cardboard to fluff-up, not that mine did.
