In todays video I finally get the Porsche 944 Turbo to make full boost. I was able to accomplish this by replacing both the diverter valve as well as the cycling valve. In the video I go over a bit of the technical aspect of how these 2 parts work and how I was able to determine why I felt the need to replace them. It makes you wonder how many people are driving round on low boost and average suspension!

Probably a lot more than we think honestly, I’ve mentioned it a few times but the car felt quick to me, way before I ever felt it at full boost, so I’m sure lots of people still think it’s a quick little car and they’re missing out like I was haha

Get yourself a Lindsey Racing boost enhancer. 15 minutes to install. Doesn't give you any more boost, but brings it on much earlier (less turbo lag) and smoother by delaying the wastegate's opening until it actually needs to open. Read somewhere that Porsche intentionally caused this effect so the 951 wouldn't be as close to a 930.

I’ve been told the same about Porsche doing that and was about to comment that but saw yours

Interesting, would be a fun mod to add to the list, I’ll have to do more research!

@@Anthony_B I put it on my '86 Turbo and it's like a different car. Boost comes on more gradually from a lower RPM instead of all at once.

LOL Great video Anthony....and.....that's my wine box gauge cluster!! I tossed it together one night when i had all the gauges on hand. I wanted a quick, temporary and easy to view set up to see how my car was performing. This is my first 944 so i wasn't sure what i should be seeing. I didn't trust the stock "BAR" boost gauge or the current 3 BAR FP regulator in the car. I have the same 3 gauges(2x AutoMeter 1x Innovate WB02) on my supercharged 928 and they have been invaluable in helping me trouble shoot issues over time. With FP, Boost PSI and AFR i have a pretty good grasp on where my car is at now.. I'm now in the process of finding a permeant home in the car for them. Just installed a LR 3 inch exhaust last weekend..

I was hoping you’d find the video one day haha, but I really was happy that you posted it, gave me a good baseline to shoot for! I have one more gauge to install soon, hoping to get a better idea on what the car is doing like yourself! Gonna need to see a clip soon on Facebook!

i just replaced my diverter valve too and that woke it up a lot. I also placed an order for a maf kit so that should help a lot with driveability and low rpm torque

Nice! Are you getting around the same 9/10/11 lbs of boost? Also is it pretty regular in the higher rpm’s of all gears, mine seems to only really want to hit peak boost in 3rd/4th gear, sometimes in 2nd but not always

@@Anthony_B yeah i’m pretty sure that’s normal. I’m no expert but i think that’s what a electric boost controller is good for. consistent boost in all gears.

I'm guessing you have a 86-87, things are just different enough on my 89 to make figuring out some of my vacuum routing annoying to figure out, everything online is for earlier cars. i have 2 banjo bolts on the intake mani where you removed that one, and the venturi is different

Mine was an 88, not sure how much they differed from year to year sadly

Was the low boost issues ever got fixed?

Once I replaced the parts in this video I had proper boost most of the time, I’d still occasionally not hit boost but I never figured out why it wasn’t working 100% consistent
